  • John Denver was not a perfect man, but he more than makes up for his flaws in the absolutely beautiful music he composed and sang for us. I can hardly fathom the beauty of this spiritual man.

  • It is easy to say you love a person when it is John Denver. He was all that can be good in a person. to listen to this song produces a peace in my heart and mind.

  • absoloutley beautiful song, love it to Bits. so so Beautiful

  • Greatest. Artist. EVER. Played this song at my wedding. Grew up with him. God rest your soul John Denver.

  • This must be his most romantic and devoted song. SO beautiful, who was it for? I sometimes feel this way, but alas not responded. I enjoy singing and have saved this one up for 4 years without performing it. One day, when the feeling is right.

  • Just to touch in the night

Just to offer a prayer each day for you

Just to long for your kisses

Just to dream of your sighs ..♫

  • One of his best, a beautiful song. Sadly missed.

  • How beautiful. I came to this video because of a 'wrong' click. I was looking for 'follow me' and i ve known something i hadn t heard before. What a wonderful man.

  • I had to come back on this day to remember this wonderful, talented man that left us much to soon. The singer is silent but his songs will live on and on. What beautiful songs he gave us. I come back to listen and to see him play. I still miss him so. I was a fan from the beginning of his career.

  • remembering today

  • How good is this, so good

  • This to me is one of the most beautiful songs of love that holds no bounds. A selfless love for which we all try to subscribe to. This is a song for which the wedding march is made for. I miss you so JD! And thanks for all the beauty you have given us.

  • As we sit here on the 10th anniversary of the September 11, 2001 terrorist attacks, I can't help but think of the wonderful song John would have wrote to honor the victims, and only imagine the hundreds of wonderful songs that died with him. John is the best song writer and musician that will ever live, Rest in peace John!

  • This is one of the most beautiful love songs I've ever heard. It moves me so deeply and brings tears to my eyes. There will be no one else like John in my opinion. Miss your sweet voice always... Rest in Peace.

  • I just remember this song and it makes me remember a special person. Mel whereever you are i miss you

  • heard this song playin on the radio today...and as soon as reached home i had to google the lyrics i heard and i have found it yes! great song!

  • Just occasionally, you hear a song for the first time, & you have to stop what you are doing & listen to it completely. This is one of those moments for me...what a wonderful song, perfectly sung. What a legacy John left us, a modest, unassuming genius, with a huge heart.

  • i love this song...my husband dedicated this to me & im really happy.w/ this ,his romantic side showed up.

  • i will sing this song when i get married..

  • I've never heard this song until the love of my life dedicated it to me on 11/6. It's such a beautiful song!! I'll ALWAYS love it!! ♥

  • My all time favorite artist, and my favorite song of his. Hard to believe it's been nearly 14 years. Wanted to hare this with a friend before she gets married. I know she'll love it, too. Thanks!

  • there is only one person who embodies this song, the moon and stars have nothing on you...inanywaymarie

  • If I could describe an angel with the human form say that this is John Denver, all is heavenly in him, and his message of kindness and true love make him a heavenly messenger.

  • @redemit60 the angels are only here for a short while, to fill our lives with wonderful music.

  • @Louisefalk78 I agree.John through his songs has left us messages of love, of hope, of universal brotherhood; that come straight to the heart. Certainly was a man with his weaknesses, but his messages,

accompanied by a wonderful music, are in tune with the divine.

  • @redemit60 messages of love indeed, my boyfriend and I we have a very romantic story for leaving on a jetplane. He went to china for 5months and said when he returned: So kiss me and smile for me, tell me that you´ll wait for me. I would really really love to have other friends that loves john denver like I do. I love his work with the nature and the animals. Something I would do too If I knew that the animals were actualy helped.

  • This was our wedding song back in 1996. We still dance to it once in a while :)

  • This says everything I want to say to my woman...JoAnn...For you..I love you always

  • this song of John"s must beup there as one of the best love songs ever written, the words must mean so much to so many, and the music touches your heart strings like no other does.I can listen to this song forever and not tire

  • wow, this brought tears to my eyes. We miss you John.

  • waw I not have words, is amazing

  • This is one of the most phenomenally stunning performances by John Denver I've ever seen. He was an amazing talent and this song is so beautiful and heartfelt that it makes me cry every time I listen. You are right 503...gone way too soon. Lucky enough to have seen him twice. First time when he was unknown and couldn't fill the Eastern MI Univ. gymnasium and then again when he was huge and sold out Cobo Hall in Detroit in less than 20 minutes!

  • @mauidreamer2801 Yes! Thanks for the share. You were lucky to have seen him twice in concert!

  • Beautiful song - lovely man.

  • I actually used this as the song for the first dance with my wife in June of 2003. I also had the line "for you, all the rest of my life" inscribed inside of her wedding ring. It was a little bit of a surprise to her on both accounts. She had "you fill up my senses" placed in my band. We arent huge Denver fans and it wasnt planned- but we both used his lyrics. He had a powerful voice.

  • @Stormcat46 AMEN,,,,,To love...and John Denver

  • For you

  • Some romantic man sang for my Birthday 25 Feb.

  • @Thamy6969

Just some romantic man nice for you catch him

  • Talented beyond all reason, and gone too soon... We'll miss you and love you forever, John.

  • when ever i hear this i can't stop my self dreaming that one day when i met the other part of my heart he'll sing this song for me..

  • @coldsummerapril Wow... that's beautiful....

  • @TheIlluminatus503 yup!! it is really beautiful...

  • @coldsummerapril very nice words....and wish of yours.....I'm a drummer yet sing this song with my guitar since I have that wish too....glad he wrote it....and glad I can sing it....what a guy he was.....and actually still is! John-Hans Melcher TheQuietDrummer

  • @johnnyzing thank you..

  • @nparlee I used it at my wedding! =)

  • I think of this when I think of my Golden Retiever, Ben Sadly missed - the best friend I was ever fortunate enough to have R.I.P. 'til we meet again mate!

    Your other half

  • A Man that could write and sing such a beautiful love song had definitely known it in his life and he took it to heaven with him. God Bless John Denver

  • One of my favorite live song..,, thank you for posting

  • I can't get over this amazing song... it's "art song" and perhaps the most beautiful love song ever performed. This song says it all. I can't believe I missed this song all these years. I thought I knew every J.D. song and when I heard this yesterday for the first time I thought of my wife and how much I would miss her if she was gone. It has changed my life.

  • I wanted my uncle to sing this song to my wife at our wedding, but we couldn't find the sheet music, which surprises me given the lyrics being so perfect for a wedding. I did have the song on a CD and had it played before our vows. I actually started singing this to my wife as we stood there facing each other.

  • This was the best cut John did of this song. It's from the "wildlife concert". It's far

better than even the cut that is on the record. It has the strings that the record does

not have. One of John's very best. To know a love like this is truly special.

  • His most feeling lyrics and maybe his best vocal : exceptional song and record and performance. ( And, for the record, the 2d Mrs. Denver was not the beast bitch that she' s reputed to be.........maybe a tough and scrappy gal, but JD was no walk in the park, either : just people with their issues, like everybody else. ) RIP, JD and thank you always.

  • @nparlee No, but I will use it at my wedding this next Spring..

  • Laura my Love...you said that I am "the One"...you sent this song to me & every time I listen to it my tears flow all the way down to my chest. Sweetheart, why are you not calling when you say you will anymore? Why are you being so distant? I pray that you haven't lost your way as you said that you would never leave me...I will cherish the Love we make for as long as I have a memory...I miss you so much...a Heart needs a second chance...I miss you so much...I Love You my Endless Love

  • I had this song played at my wedding as my bride, Shellie, came down the isle....to this day I love her and will to the end of my days....Thank you John....most importantly thank you Shellie for bringing grace and peace to my life..even for the short time we were together. I will always love you....Gene

  • 2.36 just effortless

  • It is is my hope that someday, someone feels this way about me and me about him. I've had more days on this earth than John did but it seems that the chances of feeling this way aren't so very likely anymore. I hope if there is someone out there for me, that somehow we find each other and recognize it. For the person out ther who is the best and rest of my life, Merry Christmas. Mary

  • This song always chokes me up. This is a gorgeously sweet song.

  • He had the best voice ever. You can hear that in 2:35

  • What a gorgeous voice, gifted musician.

  • Thank you John for giving us this most beautiful song. You make my eyes tear with your beautiful voice. I miss you, I went to one of your concerts many years ago in the early 70's in Kalamazoo, MI., and went back the next year to see you again. Those 2 concerts are still the best concerts I have ever went to. I feel blessed to have seen you in person, I loved you then and I always will. Someday I hope to see you again....

  • this is one of my dream wedding song... tnx for posting...

  • I miss you so much. my tears dont drying, you will always in my heart . RIP John

  • Miss JD so much - first saw him when I was 17 & Sunshine on My Shoulders was the song being played on the radio. I have been blessed to have seen him 2 additonal times - wish it was more. Still hard to believe that he is gone.

His songs and philosophy of life & nature has meant so much to me.

He is up in heaven creating and singing for Him now.

One day I will get to meet you!!

  • i love this song...it touches my heart...love expressed so passionately. hope there are still men in our generation who would love their wives , girlfriends this much!!!

john, your heart is full of love... for you to put these words into a song as beautiful as this...i love you!

  • I recently heard this song for the first time and I became overwhelmed with tears. That has never happened before in such a strong way. The words are so meaningful. It's a beautiful song. Thank you John Denver.

  • @nparlee - I don't personally know of anyone who has used this song in their wedding, but I can't imagine that it's never been used before! Even though I have no wedding of my own in the foreseeable future, this is one song I know will be played at some point. I think it would be a good pre-ceremony music choice.

  • @nparlee Yes, I used this song in my wedding and it was wonderful. People were surprised that it was Jon Denver.

  • Yes. I used at my wedding 5 years ago. I can't believe he has been gone for 13 years. Thank you for your music John.

  • This is the most beautiful love song I believe. I have loved it for years. I tell my husband that I want to have it sung at my next wedding. (keep him on his toes) It is so heartfelt and can make you cry from the words. John Denver was one of my all time favorite singers/writers. I felt like I lost a friend the day he died. I still miss him and play his music often. I hope somehow he knows he made a difference in this world with his music and his wildlife support. We love you John.

  • @nparlee

In 1996, a year before John passed away, I used this song to serenade someone special to me back when I was in a college choir. When my sister got married, this was the song that I performed for them, even though the image of the scenario of my serenading my beloved lady is what I am seeing at that moment. It has been 15 years since the last time I shared this song with someone I thought that would forever. This song is more powerful today, because of the embodiment of the words.

  • My dear husband surprised me on our wedding day with this beautiful song. I sat beside him at his request at the piano and he played this for me. I didn't know he had learned to play it. What a beautiful gift.

I lost him last Spring, he passed away suddenly. I never got to say goodbye.

When I watch the video of him playing this song for me, I weep.

This is my favorite song, always.

  • @nparlee Yes I did 7-7-07 top of my playlist

  • It is hard to believe it has been 13 years Tuesday. I lost my husband that year also.

My heart is broken for the loss of my husband. I miss him so. I also miss this wonderful man, but we will keep his beautiful music alive for many years to come. He was a special man. This song brings tears to my eyes every time I hear it. I feel the emptyness inside, but remember the wonderful years my husband was by my side. So beautiful!!!

  • 13 years gone this Tuesday....it seems like it happened only yesterday. I miss the man and his music so much. Thanks for posting this.

  • Just beautiful!! Thanks so much! Best wishes, Willemina

  • My brother used this song in his wedding and it was soooo beautiful.

  • teary eyed after watching,,,,

  • --for you alone..

  • ---amazing song!

  • John Denver is one of my all time favorite singer and songwriter, I don't know what it is about him that makes me wonder everytime I listen to his songs, is it the voice, the lyrics, or the man, but one thing I'm sure of, I like the purity and simplicity that he has done on every song that he wrote. John - you truly are missed and God Bless! Thanks for the wonderful songs you have left us.

  • @nparlee

I have been a John Denver fan since I was two and am marrying the love of my life on 1-1-11...this will be the first song we dance to as man and wife...I know I'm gonna bawl like a baby...lol.

  • @lois73lane How very cool for you and your fiancee! I am a guy but love this man's music and his spirit, gentleness, kindness and sense of right and wrong. Did you know that he shouldered the debt that his former band members were willing to leave and paid it off himself? Great character!!

    Best wedding wishes!

  • Brilliant song. The words are amazing!

  • Beautiful words. John Denver was a brilliant songriter/singer.

  • just beautifull.. .thank you for posting this incredible incredible singer ...xie xie ni

  • just beautifull.. no word can describe my love of this song...

  • I miss my husband so very much. I listen to this song nearly everyday as it reminds me of my feelings for him. There is a light at the end of this tunnel, and there is an end to this nightmare...I know...somehow this song has been helping me...alot. He has a copy of the lyrics with him all the time...our way of sharing it together, even when we cannot be together...he reads, I listen.

  • I miss my husband so very much. I listen to this song nearly everyday as it reminds me of my feelings for him. There is a light at the end of this tunnel, and there is an end to this nightmare...I know...somehow this song has been helping me...alot.

  • For anyone who has not seen the John Denver story I recommend it. His music will live on forever, so heart felt and beautiful

  • This is my favourite among all of John Denver's songs... Then I think that when I hear all other songs as well.

The words are just perfect, his voice, the music, the ambience... everything is PERFECT... You don't get to see or hear these masterpieces these days. I can keep on listening to his songs time and again ....

  • This is one of my favorite love songs by John. I keep coming back to listen to it as tears roll down my cheeks. I have his cd's, but I like to see him while he is singing. It helps me remember the love that my late husband and I had. He took a part of me with him when he pass away. It is so deep, yet so beautiful as only John Denver can sing it. I miss my husband so very much. John, you are missed by so many that will keep your music alive. Thanks for a great post.

  • This song holds so many memories for me.. It says exactly how I feel about someone.. Have not used at a wedding.. but I'm thinking of it.. nparlee , you gave me a great idea.. PERFECT!!!! thank you..

  • Not all know the true meaning of Love ! I believe this man knew the meaning of true love.....only a person who knows, could have wrote this song.....then to be able to sing this song with so much feeling and emotion, truly knew the meaning of true love. What a treasure he possessed !

  • One of the most beautifull voices in America! A great singer!

  • Yes, this is a beautiful song. Somebody who I knew loves me so deeply introduced this song to me only in 2009 and it has since been one of my favorites, if not my all-time favorite romantic song. Yes, its lyrics would make it a very good wedding song. I really would want it sung to someone you have very deep, strong, and forever feelings for.

  • We had this song as a song played during our wedding ceremony as we faced each other and held hands. I had heard this song when I was much younger and knew then that I wanted it at my wedding. What are the chances that the man I married loved John Denver as much as I always have? !!! Been singing along with JD as long as I can remember!!!

  • @nparlee yes i had this song played at my wedding in 1988 when signing the marriage certificate

  • @nparlee Yes i used this song at my wedding in 1988

  • I'm using it for my wedding if that ever happens!!

  • @nparlee Yes, actually! I'm using this for the first dance at my wedding in August. :)

  • @nparlee

In fact, I knew of this song in a Christian-Jewish wedding. There was another song they played: There is love, by Paul Stookey

    Regards,

    Wendy

  • Take time to listen to this..then tell you love..it's for him.. 'smile'

  • Beautiful song... Beautiful man...I'm so glad he gifted us with his wonderful music... And I'm glad God gifted us with John...You are still greatly missed..

  • I heard John Denver play in a little coffee house called "The Main Point" way back when....I loved his music then.....I love his music still. He may be gone from our vision but our souls will always be blessed with what he saw! Life can be beautiful, life can be hard, but life is what John sung about ALWAYS. Thank you so much for sharing this and including the lyrics. I never heard this one before. God bless you!

  • Very nice song beautifully performed. Such meaning and depth of the lyrics and the performance. Thanks for posting.

  • @coronet72 Thank you for sharing. Glad that you likr it too.

    Wendy

  • 'just a word of a love song,,just the beat of my heart,,just to pledge my life,my love for you,,oh i love this song so much

  • Li'l brother and Jane,

Don't think that this is premature. I'm feeling sentimental and mushy these last few days. For You

  • Oh Johnny, we would have had the BEST time together. My Mom wanted you to sing at my wedding, only trouble is, is that I would have left with you! No one loves your music as I do. I NEVER would have cut your trees down. I love you John.

I would have protected you forever. Susie Senn

  • @willowdown55 Beautifully said willowdown of such a beautiful man. Fortunately for us the memories of his songs, his love of nature, and his gentile demeaner will never ever be forgotten. God bless you Susie Senn !

  • @dollyburd

  • MrRichardscan.. congradulations on your 50th.. You must have a wonderful wife.. Same as John Denver - Only a man with a special wife could sing like this.. This was "our" song, a special person who was once in my life..

  • Amazing Song and performance. Just finished as soloist for a friend's wedding and performed this song. There was not a dry eye in the house. Thanks John!! God be with you.

  • "just to wake up each morning, just to u by my side, just to know that ur never really far away, just to reason for living, just to say i adore, just to know that ur here in my heart to stay" for you!

  • i appreciated this song long before...but i appreciated this the most when my love one told me that this is their theme song as couple...i really love the song..especially to those who gave me this song...i will always love you...thats forever...

  • John touched my heart and soul like no other, past or present.

    Till we meet again...RIP!

  • This is possibly Mr. Denver's BEST song - I love that he wrote, sang AND played the piano on the song. Amazing. He was SO talented, and is SO missed!!!

  • Wow, he really had something special. There will never be another singer like John Denver. . ..

  • NO...NEVER, WILL THEY AGAIN.....

  • John's lyrics are so meaningful. Not many songwriters today match his human spirit in their writing. Thanks for posting

  • So beautiful and so touching. The emotion of the lyrics and the purity of his voice make for an amazing performance that has almost brought me to tears.

  • I come back to hear him sing this beautiful song so many times. It brings tears to my eyes, it is so beautiful. And, yet, it will be the anniversary of the loss of my husband next month and I feel the pain also. Rest my dear. I miss you so. I miss you John.

  • This is from The Wildlife Concert and if you are a John Denver fan, so worth buying on CD or DVD. Ironically, I have sung Annies Song at weddings, and this song at Funerals. It is difficult to sing for so many reasons.

  • lovely

  • if you can't hear the beauty in this well you can't hear

  • Did John believe and follow Buddha or Jesus? Just wanted to know.

  • Did you try to Google it? I am sure one can always finds satisfying answer there, some how.

    Regards,

    Wendy

  • He considered himself to be spiritual but not religious. He did believe in God and rarely talked of any religion except to say that more people have been killed due to religion than all wars combined!!!

  • I don't know but he was highly spiritual and I met him once at a seminar of The Hunger Project, he was committed to ending world hunger and also did a lot of self-development.

  • @rjlattis - John Denver (Henry John Deutschendorf, Jr.) often said that "he was more spiritual - than religious." His view was that religion has caused more deaths than all wars combined (TRUE) and that is far from the teachings of Jesus. He did believe in God and Jesus - and he was basically a Presbyterian in his youth and the service after his death was at his mother's Presbyterian Church in Aurora, Colorado.

  • @Earthlinked

diffently spiritual. He had something wonderful that spoke to the heart. I do believe it be of God's heart from which the words came and yet on a human level, what woman on the face of this earth, wouldn't want a man who could speak such words in such beautiful form! His poetry in song blows me away!

  • @Earthlinked : You seem to know more about the REAL Johnny D than most people. I have some very old ties to John Denver ( Deutschendorf) and family. Would you like to stay in contact? patid26@netzero.net

  • @rjlattis After reading Back Home Again, I think he was finding Christianity, but not typical forms.

  • @rjlattis he was a Christian all his life, being raised Presbyterian.

  • @rjlattis He didn't folow any organised religion as such, he had his own beliefs I believe.

  • This song is absolutely wonderful. Maybe even better than Annies Song?! It makes me cry every time I hear it. Just how I feel for my husband even after 30 years of marriage! Love and miss you John.

  • Was this John Denver's last song?

It's beautiful...hismusic is truly from the heart..

    Thank you John Denver...

  • No- "Yellowstone Coming Home" was his last "semi" recorded song that was finished just a month or so before his crash. There are versions on YT. JD wrote "For You" before he married Cassandra Delaney in '88- SURE didn't know when he wrote this how short lived the marriage would end up.
