  • Could well have been, it was so long ago I can't remember :-(

  • mush, mush..

    psilocybine;)

  • Every once in a while, the Spirit enters man and speaks through him. Perhaps Carl McCoy was not aware of it, but this song is one of those occasions.

  • dont be afraid

  • psilocybine mush rooms as jesus did

  • Great song but..."A Man Called Nephilim?"..."Fields of a Horse?"

  • @66777Marc O-kee-pa, a shamanistic ritual which let the mind travel apart from the body, making the person a psychonaut...

  • Can anybody remember the Nod corner in NME?

  • @DogsOfAnnwn Oh Yes. Sure it wasn't Melody Maker?

  • if this is music i'm Marshall Mathers

  • Good shit indeed...

  • Excellent indeed!!!

  • You take your radio outside on a sunny day and play this and you can feel the 'gods' it speaks of above you, like the song is calling them down once again...

  • wie krank oO

  • My fav song GREAT!! video What a great gothic vocal voice Mc Coy has got.

  • The lyrics are about Cthulhu. Ph'nglui mglw'nafh Cthulhu R'lyeh wgah'nagl fhtagn!

  • more disturbing vids please

  • Disturbing??? pfft. you wanna see a disturbing music video? Look up Khanate - Dead

  • fotn became original from this song to the others wich were made after. Before it they were immitors of Red Lorry Y Lorry , The Sisters Of Mercy, wich touches of an ugly voice. hahahaha.

  • Why the hell are people arguing about Nine Inch Nails on a Fields of the Nephilm video? It is stupid.

  • great track.great music video.there s a mystical vibe to it.

  • A question for the really old fans: what was the Goth community's general attitude toward Nephilim when the band was more current? I know that that one British magazine had quite a blast spoofing them. Does this reflect the attitude of the fa early fans at all?

  • @MithrasAtDusk Whilst the Sisters spoke for the gods, the Neph were the plebian villeins, damned to toil mercilessly in the foetid bogs and mires. The may have been ridiculed for it by some; by the rest of us they were (are) loved. Still one of the best live bands ever. At 42 I still get loss of sensation down one side of my body after being knocked unconcious at a gig by a pyramid collapsing on my head and having a stroke the next day. You just don't that quality of live events any more :)

  • shamans!!!

  • Reznor is a contemporary Mozart and he elevated industrial music to that level of technical and musicianship excellence. I was commenting on daisaigai7's post...this comment is really silly, as far as I am concerned: "...Bill Leeb of Front Line Assembly called Reznor a Nivek Ogre copy. And he was right. NIN was nothing more than a Skinny-Ministry-Neubauten copy."

  • Carl was far ahead of time with his lyrics, singing: " i knew this i-pod " on 2:19 and so on.....

    :-)

  • Brilliant Song, remember it like it was yesterday.

  • so creepy .. i love it :)

  • who cares - carl fuck everything or are we going straight back to the future

  • there is nothing like the Nephilim, when u listen to the music load & with decent speakers u can hear many things on different levels & in a theatrical way, if u close yr eyes & think of it as a stage, u can hear some things further back, others forward & they change, especialy his voice, it disapears into the distance then come forward sudenly. The is no music I havent listened to & nothing does this like the Neph, completely & totaly excelent.

  • great video,disturbing but wonderful.

  • So, so fucked up...

  • @Hammer of Pink - This is from Revelations which remains my fav album by them

    @Timfok44 - u lucky lucky lucky man !!!!!

@WolvesInferno - Thank you - love this song and am bouncing round reliving my youthful goth days !! x

  • What album is this from?

  • yikes.. I need a nightlight to sleep now.. :*(

  • Holy crap, gothic rock is one of the coolest genres ever. <3 I'm a prog rock and metalhead but l really need to get into this stuff too. :D l am new to this genre, but l'm in love with it already.

  • @HammerOfPink I'm in the same boat, my friend. I was a serious death metal elitist, but I am coming out of that and am starting to really love deathrock.

  • @psychoreneau

This is pure, classic goth rock. Nothing rockabilly, gothabilly or phsychobilly about it.

  • Brilliant

  • Very Good song!

  • still like it though good song

  • y does he sound different?

  • Wow, the video is about the Sioux Sun Dance religious cerimony. =)

  • goth days best ever .......

  • i'm 29 years old and i just discover real goth

    fuck you marilyn manson xD

  • @Oroboros525 What can I say?

I am over 40, with the same situation:)

    Otherwise , I agree!

  • @Oroboros525 Goth is gay music. I wonder why Adam "Nergal" Darski (Behemoth)hangs out with these guys. If you want to see disturbing videos, search for Behemoth's "At the left hand ov god" or Deicide's "Homage for Satan".

  • @jasonanselmo30 I listen to goth and death/black metal. Am I a middle gay ?

  • @jasonanselmo30 I wonder why Nergal isn't dead yet. It's long over-due. If you're gonna compare a blackened death band to goth (which is completely ridiculous in itself) atleast do it with something good like Belphegor or Goatwhore.

  • @Oroboros525 fyi, Marilyn Manson never considered himself as a goth.

  • Their sound was like nothing else. There will never be another Nephilim. Saw em in their last live shows a few years ago. Still sounds like nothing else :)

  • 20 seconds in:no.Bye.

  • hell yeah

  • this song has like the most amazing intro i ever heard in a song...

  • TOO Bad we can't go Back to those times!

  • ohh great.... i remember the times when i listen to fields or sisters.

    great times !

  • Met this band once - what a bunch or arrogant twats. Heads up their arse.

  • A man called Horse.

    Bloody brilliant song, as always

  • very dead can dance-esque but good

  • Comment removed

  • I don't get it

  • well, its a bit like the initiation ceremonies some native american tribes did, that could cause visions, possibly due to the excrutiating pain. So this is showing someone going on a journey through time in his initiation, and then dying, which I doubt was meant to happen.

There was a TV series in the 80's where this happened, and I can't remember the name sadly. Probably the inspiration for this vid.

  • @dorianleakey thx for the reply

  • @dorianleakey wasnt that series Horse? or possibly Kung Fu?

  • @Bryan uk666 Not kung fu, will look up horse, thanks for the reply!

  • It is called the Sun dance.

  • I saw them perform this live in 1990 as part of the Earth Inferno\Visionary Heads tour at the Mayfair in Newcastle (2 days after Elizium was released).

Sounds just as good now as it did then. It's a stunning piece of music.

'and you did suffer the curse... Livyathan'

    'Pray for me'.

  • interesting spelling choice there.

  • I've tried to go with the ancient Hebrew or just after Livatan. The pronunciation has always bothered me for some reason.

  • I see, when I first saw it I thought what a numty! then thought actually there could be a very good reason for that choice. It could be even better if Youtube would allow an ancient hebew alphebet, apart from no one knowing what the hell you were on about.

  • I've tried posting the Hebrew Livyathan but youchoob's having none of it.

  • What album is it from? Can't find this song

  • Psychonaut was released on single (7", 12", CDs and MC) only.

  • it was released as a 12" and it marked a transition in sound from Nephilim to Elizium. And its still fucking great!

  • N.B. This is the 7" version. The 12" is better

  • It's not only a single

  • Dawn razor any one? awesome album. I met Carl McCoy once in a bar in Nottingham or Bristol, can't remember which, he is a great bloke, totally unpretentious and not at all as you would expect. Articulate and clearly intelligent he gave me and my mates a hilarious insight into the music industry of the eighties, top bloke.

  • Dawnrazor is a great album, but 'The 'Nephilim' will always be my absolute favourite album, because it's the album that got me into The Nephs in the first place. I'm pretty damned envious that you met Carl. I'm sure he's a sound guy to talk to.

  • @WolvesInferno look, friend w-inferno,let me tell you sth,I personal can't say that ''this'' NEF'S album is better than the ''other'' NEF'S album. For me, from the ''burning the fields'' till ''mourn.sun'', is everything NEPHILIM. And ZOON, what can i say? other level... thank you, oh,keep talkin',you're a hunter,I;m a wolf... hehehe...

  • @timfok44 personally I think "The Nephilim" album was better that "Dawnrazor".. With opening track "Endemoniada" as a huge favv of mine. I have to brag alittle too. Met the man acouple of times. Played same festival as him and his Neph's 2 years ago. A vey laid back shum. Focused and devoted to his work. But also with a ´nice touch of sarcasm when it comes to the music industry as you said mate. A brill performer with a nice personality. I like him :-)

  • @timfok44 thanks for that anecdote! I was always curious what Carl was like off the stage. Cool to hear that he is a down to earth guy.

  • @timfok44 you are my new hero...amazing mr.mc coy...lucky bastard >;-) !

  • @timfok44 Oh? when was it you met him? I would have loved to as well, but also would probably have not had the guts to actually have a conversation.

  • i'm from portugal and i love fields of the nephilim since 1986...they are one of the great bands in the world...

the nephilim and elizium for me are the best albuns....

    regards from lisbon

  • @timfok44 very short though......

  • The singer's voice reminds me of Ian Curtis from Joy Division. Sort of sounds like early U2 as sung by him.

  • the band rammstein model theyreselves on.....me thinks........all praise the arch-drude.......julian cope.......praise be..we know the nephilim are ancestors/parents

  • i like the video been awhile since i listened to fields love there stuff

  • this song stirs my soul and the images(video) capture my thoughts....pray now!

  • this is one of best fields songs ever

  • Glad you like it. If you want some of it PM me. Plus more like it !

  • now THIS is gothic rock. not the stuff you hear inside hot topic. i love how fields has evolved over the years. Starting out as Gothic country music and becoming Gothic metal. Carl McCoy is a genius.

  • You mean industrial metal with gothic rock, my friend.

  • Does anyone know if they still live in Stevenage?

  • me recuerda mucho a un tema de Simple Minds o me lo parece :) ,pero esta gente es mu buena

  • I saw the Nephilim play three times in the late 80's it was a very powerful experience! why bother fighting over labels the real fans of the nephilim will know you dont need to put them in a box the music speaks for its self unlike this watered down piss excuse they call alternative today! This is deeply occult/spirtual work not whinning boyband in black bullshit!

  • Comment removed

  • This sums it up.

  • Thank you for putting it into clear Perspective for everyone. All this crap today that Losers are calling Gothic is incredibly Moronic. Goth was a spiritual Movement not a genre of Music Per Say.. Anyways Peace and thank Goodness some out there have their heads on straight ! Peace

  • can someone post lyrics or send them pm ? , thanks in adavnce....this tune is timeless as with most or all of their music.

  • I have an occult book titled "Liber Null & Psychonaut",I wonder if that's were they got that name from.

  • Have it too :) I wonder..

  • It is. The book by Peter J Carroll. Big influence on Carl.

  • I think fairport convention were the tru goth

  • It is goth. And these guys starting making music in the early 80's, before the Cult & long before Marilyn Manson. Gotta luv Carl McCoy.

  • @harleygal24 A tad late I know but WTF? the Nephilim is not just the band's name, its part of their RELIGION. If I've said it once tonight I've said it 10 times.... Look up Aleister Crowley and John Dee.

    Blessed be.

  • @BusiLittleBee - Yeah, you are late, but better late than never. I know the name Nephilim is part of their religion. I did my research when I first discovered the band. As for Crowley & Dee, that's old news to me. Carl McCoy is a genius; he grew up with a Mother who was a Jehovah's Witness. He later learned about Christianity, & the rest is history.

  • Maybe early Cult... Love and prior. However Neph took it to a much higher conceptual level.

  • Two guitars: one clean, one dirty. You never go wrong with that combo.

  • it's beautiful!!

    i love it

    ^ ^

  • Sadly, and maybe graciously enough...people don't play bass like that or speak like that anymore in music. Hear the words and feel the reverberation....

  • Good times. Fucking emos and Marylin Mansun have tainted my memories of goth.

  • its goth. its just not your goth. this kinda comment usually comes from bauhaus and souixsie fans. am i right?

either way, dont need you arrogant little arse trying to start a p*ssing contest about who's gother than who. its more than a little juvenile.

  • it was goth when i was a goth. That is all i know. Marylin Mansun are not goth, but their fans seem to adopt a watered down more cartoonish version of the goth uniform.

  • not entirely sure why your citing manson, but sure why not. it is goth, in that it is the metal/vaguely industrial form of goth popular amongst younger goths. the music aint what makes the goth in real terms. goth aint one specific thing thats the same all the time, much like how iron maiden and metallica are totally different but both are metal bands. and, might i add, you are doing the exact same "gother than thou" tripe the bahblah guy did, and uniform? please.....that aside fotn rock :)

  • its not goth dude.

    are you kidding me

    dont label this band

    its way beyond "goth"

  • never stop being arrogant dude, just never stop. it really doesnt matter what fanboys think something is, so i hope you have fun tilting at windmills. o/

  • @crushthevicar What does emo and MM has to do with Goth? Marilyn Manson is aa poser Industrialist and Emo is still a pussy ass scene thats still trying to be ecepted the hardcore scene matter or fact every scene in rock n roll hahahahahaha XD

  • @666deathghost MM is no poser, he is an artist, he many not be considered goth music, but he is more goth than anyone who claims to be a goth. he lives the goth lifestyle.

  • @RyZombie619 WTF YOU SAID!!?? MM GOTH!!!??? I feel slapping the shit out of you with a Sister of Mercy CD!! Matter or fact stop trying to be goth cause u just failed...

  • @666deathghost Did I say I was goth? Did I say his music was goth? I feel like slapping the shit out of you with a Christian Death CD, in fact, make that their CD Catastrophe Ballet! Oh and by the way, judging by your name you think goths always have to be obsessed with death and evil, there is more to goth than just being a creepy looking person with a wannabe creepy name. If you actually come out and say you are goth, well, then you are arent. So grow up junior.

  • @RyZombie619 First of all new Christian Death is fucking trash second you want to come at me about my user name well check out your RyZOMBIE!!! and your one to talk about creepy names you fag. And no one said goths are always obsessed with death and evil I like Extreme Metal thats all and I never claimed goth either you baby bat. So fuck u good luck goth boy or what ever you want to call your self. Marilyn Manson goth..... Fuck u poser. BTW I never ever what to even consider myself goth.

  • @666deathghost first off, you fail to understand that is not new Christian Death you moron, some fan you are. Second, ryzombie is not a creepy name, you are a drama queen and have issues. Calling me a poser? For what? What makes me a poser you loser. So you assume i am a poser cuz i said i liked Marilyn Manson, is it wrong to listen to Marilyn Manson. You have some serious issues if you think that you can act like this and calling me a fag? What is your deal? You are ignorant and prejudice

  • @666deathghost Baby bat? what the hell? you get mad at me because you think i am trying to be a goth and call me a poser and tell me i have failed at being a goth when i never said i was a goth and you sit on your ass and then say you were never trying to be a goth? yeah you make a lot of sense. go read your twilight books and listen to your cute little metal bands, you have proved your age and immaturity. calling me a poser?anyone who calls anyone a poser is an idiot, that word is overused

  • @666deathghost in fact quit trying to act like a tough metal head, you are some uneducated fool who is trying to act tough, go listen to your cave man music and leave me alone you ass hole

  • @RyZombie619 R u still butthurt that you're still sending me your little love comments aw thats so sweet LOL!!!:-D

  • @666deathghost what ever man, never said i was goth, just i like mansons old stuff, his both is really good , read it, later...

  • @crushthevicar Why even bring Mansuck's name up lol...lol

  • @crushthevicar well,i love deathrock era...im just 16 but im trying to search and find out new music....my fav kinds are gothic and dark wave.Manson is an awesome artist,he seems to be a freak but he is talented.also MM working on industrial ;)

  • @giwtzi

Manson and Industrial? Hahahahhh. He plays Rock and Metal, that's all. Wake up, guy. Industrial isn't a Rock genre.

  • @daisaigai7 well,in industrial u r able to hear sound come from undustries such machines and etc, if u listen carefully to MM u can hear them too :)

  • @giwtzi

i guess you are too young for this. industrial was a late 1970s thing. the genre is over 30 years old. believe me. there is no releationship to the music of MM.

  • @daisaigai7 so,maybe u r right... could u tell me some bands to listen to? im not intrested in industrial but i love to find out new music for me

  • @daisaigai7 MM definitely came from industrial, trent reznor produced/shaped the early MM stuff and there are lots of industrial influences throughout his body of work, see skinny puppy

  • @freakysteve668

MM is a kind of Alternative Metal. Does it sound like NIN? Never. Furthermore, NIN isn't an Industrial group. NIN was a Rock group with Electro-Industrial and EBM influences. That's all. Bill Leeb of Front Line Assembly called Reznor a Nivek Ogre copy. And he was right. NIN was nothing more than a Skinny-Ministry-Neubauten copy. But it's over now. NIN's last Industrial Rock album was The Downward Spiral. Later releases are only a mixture of Electronica and Alternative Rock.

  • Comment removed

  • @daisaigai7 The words 'electronica and alternative rock' are no longer even part of the NIN vernacular. Trent has singularly changed the face of the music industry. The digital media used in NIN live shows is pure art. And Trent Reznor hs NEVER EVER painted a silly little black mask on his face like some starved for talent individuals....this is the 21st century.

  • @morningglorify NIN/Trent Reznor is my favourite artist of all time...doesn't make this any less good

  • @Ullish1989 Trent is the (Radio) commercial version of Eminem....Trent has never once engineered his own sounds...but he's crafty...enough to attract the weak of mind with fire works.

  • @daisaigai7 Spare me the discrediting of Trent Reznor.

  • ...still fokkin amazin..

only the live track tops this .

    -----listen 2 the bass line....

  • =////

  • It´s my favourite Fields of The Nephilim song.Since ..i don´t know ...but for a very long time until now :D

  • Hali! Kemény:)

Meglepődtem a sok filmeden, még nem láttam őket, én is itt vagyok már:)

  • "Pray now ..."

    Gives me the goosebumps!!!

  • I love this video.

  • wow this vid is fucking amazing. this is exactly what my dreams are like. strange dark psychedelic and insane. i wish i could live in my dreams, and, this video LOL

  • Wow!?!?

My Soul Bows to Your Soul

  • smb

  • You like The Flaming Lips, right? They were THE worst live act I have ever seen. ( I have been to a lot of shows by both signed and unsigned bands) . " SHE WEARS VA-A-AAA-SE-LIIIINE," There is no point in arguing about taste but compare a concert between FOTN and The Flaming Lips. Now compare lyrics. Again, like who you will that's your choice.

  • FYI? Sounds like you think you're doing us a favor or something. If you prefer the Flaming Lips to FOTN, that's fine in itself. Even if you were to post some stupid, inane, trollish comment like "omg these guys gay Flaming Lips own their fag limey asses" -- even that would be preferable to what you have posted. Sorry? FYI? Guys? Do you realize how inconsequential and meaningless your opinion is? And you politely try to "educate" us about your superior musical tastes? GO FUCK YOURSELF.

  • I love you. You sum up our thoughts entirely. If only all the other retards on youtbe would take notice of this....

  • They played this last nightin London, the first time I've seen them play it. It was, of course, fucking superb....

  • Snap. Saw them at Hull City Hall in 87. Seeing them them this weekend for the first time since. Feel very old.

  • Still love this tune.

  • Love this song. Saw them back in 87 at Hull City Hall and they were excellent

  • Shamanic. Ritualistic. Alchemical. Mythic. Nobody - but nobody - does it like the Nephs. Or would have the cool nerve to. Brilliant.

  • I met Carl back in 1991, had a beer with him where the Neph used to record.

    Bloody good egg he was/is

  • As a witch, seeing this vid is great because The Nephs really know about thier tribalism and thier beliefs are reflected in thier music.
