I only recomend polishing stainless steel, I polished an older steel pistol and I noticed metal erosions, uneven surfaces here and there and even tiny holes. but stainless steel polishes very nice alot faster
@RemMan700 If i used that Mothers stuff & a Dremel tool to polish my blue S&W 1911 slide rails would it take off the blue finish on my gun,? Which I do not want to do.?
I'd polish my Springfield Loaded - or my Springfield Compact - BUT - I'm at the range at least once a week and carry daily, so why bother? More scratches are on the way. Betting the recipient of the 230 grain projectile will not care...
I have found that the best way to polish stainless using Mother's is to hand rub the finish using "white" Scotchbrite! The white variety is non scouring, I have used it on a car finish with soap and water to remove bugs also! The green SB would work on more severe scratches but use a little caution with the green!

@C00LHAND72 The slide had a bunch of light scratches which I used the dremel and the dremel polishing paste to get the scratches out. The dremel left swirls and I then used the mothers and polished the slide by hand. It did not take much to get that shiny finish.
hey, nice socks....j/k...clean ass gun though, but I just like the dove tail that points up instead of the one that points down...I would switch it...keep on shootin' bro!
@alenleroc God no.. The guns factory finish on the side of the slide comes with a high polish finish. Mine got a good amount of fine scratches on it which made it look bad so I polished them out. No gang banger guns for me. LOL
There's nothing wrong with having a nice flashy gun. Ignore the haters that like to stereotype everything. Hell, I'd get a Desert Eagle in titanium gold because of how durable the finish is and it looks nice. I'm neither black or a gangster wannabe. I don't even like rap/hip-hop. Anyway, great gun, man. I'm still thinking about what to get myself for when I get back to the States. It's a toss between a Glock 17 or 21, Colt 1911 and a Sig Sauer X-Six Lightweight. Peace.
that mothers polish does really work, i use it on my 38 super(high satin finish) after heavy use and i also use it on antique trumpets and on my gold and silver coin collection and it leaves them with a high polished finished, an inside out sock and a white t-shirt work really well to get a great shine(nearly a chrome finish). makes an old penny look new. i used to use silver creme but it just leaves a powdery mess when not removed too well.
Nice 1911-A1 G.I. I should get one someday. lol so mothers polish really works. I will have to try that on mine. I don't know if this sparks your interest or not. Hogue finger groove pistol grip in opinion are the cats ass when it comes to comfort. Not to mention it will make your 1911 look a little meaner too. So it has a purpose and it is practicle. lol

@COYOTE165A Yeah do not use mothers or any other polishing compound on a blued finish. It will wear through the bluing.

my girlfriend has that exact gun. hers is getting dinged up, i might go and polish it like you did yours.

shoopdawoop32 10 months ago
@shoopdawoop32 Sure you can. You have to be part of a shooters club to get a pistol in AU.
RemMan700 10 months ago
@RemMan700 true but gun laws are EXTREMELY strict. also i would have no idea where to find one. i have never seen a gun shop in hobart.
shoopdawoop32 9 months ago
@shoopdawoop32 RemMan700 is right. It's not that hard to buy handguns in Australia. Cleaver firearms sell this exact pistol for around $980.
