I will agree the Russians worked to modernize the country however, they wanted to spread their sphere of influence is totally common amongst superpowers. @zia1603 mate if we wanted to conquer afganistan we would, we were called there to support the government. at least that what our soldiers were told, so we went along that line, and we disengaged according to Geneva convention, didn't loose a single soldier while withdrawing, leaving more then a million afgans dead, and much more dispalced including u, so fk off
