I currently have a XPS 1530 with a Sigmatel high def audio codec driver (Stereo mix isn't available with that driver) I noticed on the dell website that they recommend a SIGMATEL STAC 92XX C-Major HD Audio driver. Does anyone know if this will give me stereo mix?

This worked for me, but I had to uninstall my current sound driver and restart the computer. Before running the file, right click it and select "Properties". Click the compatibility tab and make sure that it is compatible to run with Windows XP. Then run the program and restart the computer after it installs. Stereo mix showed up under "Recording Devices" and I enabled it and set it as the default. Now I am able to record what's playing on the computer! Thank you so much for your help!

its easy to fix, go to dell's website, search "driver", enter your service tag (its explained to you how to do) and it will give you a list of drivers. select to download the sigmatel audio driver, and install, restart your computer, and your finished! you now have sound again

I've managed to get this to work before - but have wiped my HardDrive and lost it. Now when I go to the Dell link you provided i just get a dot application dowload that Windows does not recognize!!!

well you have to buy something to back up the computer mambe about 50 dollers its worth it thogh in case your computer gets out of date than you have to back it up or no sound you can back it up.

Hmmm.....try to see if u can just use audacity while gaming....U could match the audio up after. Im pretty sure if u google ur problem, a software will come up. TeamOmniecient on youtube do it for combat arms =D

in bottom right corner of computer screen there is an icon that says safely remove hardware. click on it and remove the one on top. that worked for me. hope it works for u!

Haha, if you have a sigmatel card... and your comp is on the compatibility list, than blame Dell if you have a problem with it. This worked flawlessly with my laptop.

I have no problem now, I don't have stigmatel, so I just downloaded VAC(Virtual Audio Cable) and that works fine.
