i love the original recording and i like a lot of the things he does in this live version (the whistling effects, the alternative syncopations in the vocals, etc) but i can't help but feel that the guitar solo doesn't really go anywhere. the violin solo in the original song felt much more developed and really went somewhere.

I saw Andrew at the Cane's Ballroom in Tulsa with a band. He is still awesome and loop pedals are just another tool for this very talented artist.

Howard Jones used lots of sequencers & samplers when he first toured the USA in the early '80's. He came through later with a band and was not near as impressive.

Andrew Bird is my favorite artist, but why is it that his studio recordings are so bad compared to his live stuff? His live shows are amazing, but when you here the cd tracks his voice sounds like he's mumbling and some of the songs are completely different (ahem... plasticities). His live versions are better because he gets into the music versus in a studio where you do take after take after take to get it right.
