Great performance of the Focus band as allways. I saw them at the Dutch Hammond Tonewheel club. Amazing. Love the sound of the hammond XB3. Thanks for sharing.
The thing I like about this band, is that they do not sound like anything else around at the moment. They are one of a kind and I hope they stay that way. Blinding stuff.
This bass player rangs from Focus via Miles Davis to Plant-Page, experimental jazz and the unevitable dutch "glass of bubbling rosé..." kind-of-playing...THERE it is :outstanding pure EXPERTISE! For us to enjoy on yutub for free! Simple fact!
I absolutely LOVE the way Niels stands aside and lets Bobby take the stage - these four beautiful guys show true respect for each other that brings a tear to my eye. Sublime.
What a superb band. Many thanks Thijs, Pierre, Niels & Bobby for the wonderful gig on Saturday 12th October at The Regent Centre, Christchurch, Dorset. The live atmosphere was magic, as was also the music. We are hoping to catch you all on Tour again, in the UK, very soon.
There's nothing quite like a Hammond B3 and a leslie. By the way, has anyone noticed that the riff at 1:32 is just like the bassline from Miles Davis's "It's about that time"?
Enjoyable - Thijs Van Leer great, but the bassist somehow misses the point and the guitarist really lacks feel. Loved the band ever since the early 70s as a teenager and really looking forward to seeing them live in December.
I saw them in BajaProg festival Mexico, and the guitar player seemed to lack feel, but was amazingly quick and skilled. He literally left my jaw open in amazment.
It's old, yes, but still good, smooth and incredibly tight. Great bass player and well the other guys are veterans, which makes me wonder, if it would be better to have a new yougn crew all around, writing new oringinals instead of the old Focuse. Were are the new young bands, like PRR?
Actually, "Harem Scarem" was the follow-up single to the very successful "Sylvia". Interestingly, Niels' guitar-playing here reminds one a bit more of Hendrix in some ways than Akkerman (must be that Strat sound and use of the 'whammy bar'.
In early 1974 this was the Focus single that failed to follow up the success of "Hocus Pocus" and signaled the downward slide of the band. The drumming (Pierre van der Linden) on this live version is much more exciting than that of the original studio version (with Colin Allen). I miss van Leer's falsetto---should've quit smoking, old boy!
What year was this recorded?

So rare when the spirit of a band can change and stay so compelling...
May be the only time it is okay to me to keep the same name even though a core founder is gone...
Thank you for posting, thank you all in advance for giving at least one other human a listen to this band!!!
Love...

Yes they heard miles davis....I believe too.
It never matters what style you're in, when you dig it , you want to know it all... from Brassens to Muse and the Yettocome!

see the other`s guitarist was played with focus.... and this one sucks
Focusbro 3 years ago
He doesn't suck, he's just not Focus enough. He looks like he's trying to play from sheet music, not from his heart. :)

yeah, think so too.
but technically that dude does quite well, i saw them yesterday in my home town.
