  • What year was this recorded?

  • The drum-man is not... Pierre van der Linden ?

  • @Bertolucas He is.

  • @BlueGherkin He is.

    ... master !

  • @Bertolucas Yeeeap!

  • DL the audio from this clip at searchripgrab doht cohm.

  • It misses the piano, but otherwise, nice.

  • at 3:46 he looks like peter griffin

  • wow, this is even better than the studio version :o

  • So rare when the spirit of a band can change and stay so compelling...

May be the only time it is okay to me to keep the same name even though a core founder is gone...

Thank you for posting, thank you all in advance for giving at least one other human a listen to this band!!!

    Love...

  • LOVE THEM .. THEY GIVE SO MUCH JOY ;D great music !!!!

  • SOUNDS VERY NICE!!!

  • Stunning!

  • great

  • Great performance of the Focus band as allways. I saw them at the Dutch Hammond Tonewheel club. Amazing. Love the sound of the hammond XB3. Thanks for sharing.

  • I am going in the show of them today here in Belo Horizonte, Brazil

  • it,s my favoryte song, for ever focus ..in baja prog.mexico coming 2 times o si

  • love the sound of the Boaner amp!!

  • It's Marshall amp on BoGner cab :)

But... Yeah, the sound is great ! ;)

  • hamburger concerto is so underated

  • MUSIC

  • Those are werid looking pick ups on the bass. Any one know what kind of pick up they are and are they a standard issue model?

  • just regular single coils, idk what make

  • Thanks for the info. I have been waiting for while for someone to tell me thanks.

  • The thing I like about this band, is that they do not sound like anything else around at the moment. They are one of a kind and I hope they stay that way. Blinding stuff.

  • This bass player rangs from Focus via Miles Davis to Plant-Page, experimental jazz and the unevitable dutch "glass of bubbling rosé..." kind-of-playing...THERE it is :outstanding pure EXPERTISE! For us to enjoy on yutub for free! Simple fact!

  • Great bass solo =D

  • I absolutely LOVE the way Niels stands aside and lets Bobby take the stage - these four beautiful guys show true respect for each other that brings a tear to my eye. Sublime.

  • What a superb band. Many thanks Thijs, Pierre, Niels & Bobby for the wonderful gig on Saturday 12th October at The Regent Centre, Christchurch, Dorset. The live atmosphere was magic, as was also the music. We are hoping to catch you all on Tour again, in the UK, very soon.

P.S. Thank you for playing Sylvia.

Keep Touring and Rocking guys****for ever!!

    Sylvia, Mike, & Nathan.

  • I saw the band on monday still amaizing, great stuff

  • There's nothing quite like a Hammond B3 and a leslie. By the way, has anyone noticed that the riff at 1:32 is just like the bassline from Miles Davis's "It's about that time"?

  • Yes they heard miles davis....I believe too.

It never matters what style you're in, when you dig it , you want to know it all... from Brassens to Muse and the Yettocome!

  • He doesn't suck, he's just not Focus enough. He looks like he's trying to play from sheet music, not from his heart. :)

  • yeah, think so too.

but technically that dude does quite well, i saw them yesterday in my home town.

  • hey focusbro, Niels is one of the best guitarplayers in the world...what are you talking about. I'll guess you think you know about music right?

  • 0:30 - 0:31 cool hand slide!

  • Saw the band at Wath Upon Deane last night. Fantastic!!! New guitarist is brilliant. Thijs on top form, as were the rest of the band GREAT STUFF!

  • ROCK ON. Gotta love prog bands!

  • well just got my ticket today to see them play in april in dartford U.K, only a tiny little place and should be nice and close

  • Believe me, their new guitarist is excellent.

What a great exciting band. Great music.

  • IK WIL JULLIE TRUG OP PINKPOP!!!!!

  • Enjoyable - Thijs Van Leer great, but the bassist somehow misses the point and the guitarist really lacks feel. Loved the band ever since the early 70s as a teenager and really looking forward to seeing them live in December.

  • Nothing like Thijs on the Hammond B-3. Quite spiritual!!!

  • I want to see this live! I never saw them back in the day!

  • great music..

  • I saw them in BajaProg festival Mexico, and the guitar player seemed to lack feel, but was amazingly quick and skilled. He literally left my jaw open in amazment.

It's old, yes, but still good, smooth and incredibly tight. Great bass player and well the other guys are veterans, which makes me wonder, if it would be better to have a new yougn crew all around, writing new oringinals instead of the old Focuse. Were are the new young bands, like PRR?

  • Actually, "Harem Scarem" was the follow-up single to the very successful "Sylvia". Interestingly, Niels' guitar-playing here reminds one a bit more of Hendrix in some ways than Akkerman (must be that Strat sound and use of the 'whammy bar'.

  • hey but it was awesome...dont you think

  • In early 1974 this was the Focus single that failed to follow up the success of "Hocus Pocus" and signaled the downward slide of the band. The drumming (Pierre van der Linden) on this live version is much more exciting than that of the original studio version (with Colin Allen). I miss van Leer's falsetto---should've quit smoking, old boy!

  • Yeah, it loses something... but it also gains certain things: Niels van der Steenhoven happens to kick ass!!!

  • very true, he really is a brilliant guitarist

  • great stuff. loses something without the original lineup but hey nothing lasts forever
