  • *puked . Oh and my mom is a fashion designer so shes got models over almost every month-so yeah, that's quite depressing

  • I'm 14 and I think I'm developing anorexia...I'm at home right now with a low blood pressure, the school nurse sent me home because I piled my breakfast. Almost everyone in my family is asking me if I'm on a diet (I said yes) and they told me to keep going because its working...

  • I liked the entire thing except one thing. I don't think background pictures of Arlington Cemetery are really appropriate. I think there are better cemetery pictures to represent your cause than military tombstones. Other than that, great job :)

  • Yo no sé muy bien lo que pone porque el inglés no lo entiendo muy bien, pero me gustó el video, creo que algo largo, pero el cambio de música es bueno. El mensaje creo que es el adecuado para las personas que tienen desorden alimenticio. Saludos.

  • paula a. had an eating disorder? whoa.

  • There is a big problem with so-called 'celebrities' They mirror the mind-numbing, obsurd and pretentious world of the fashion industry. They often wear the latest fashions that are modelled by clearly malnourished, wafer-thin models. We have to start looking at the people responsible for promoting 'size zero' as a desirable concept. It is not.

Ladies, I know you all want to look your best and be beautiful. Eating little is not the answer.

  • i suffer from BOTH anorexia and bulimia....and im just a 12 yr old girl...

    ):

  • this is scary. I have a friend whos anerixic. I will show her this.

  • i have anorexia a severe case & was just released form the hospital after a month my weight was 87 & i am 5ft 4 it is a h--- of a thing to try to recover from. this last time i was in the icu & almost died may god bless all of you dealing with this you do have relaspses but this time was my worst

  • I'd like to compliment the upload, but you haven't been on YouTube in 8 months. Hope you are all right. My daughter suffers from an eating disorder. It's harder to beat than heroin or nicotine. She's down to 72 lbs. and her major organs are showing signs of failing. For anyone who has the "oh, just go eat a sandwich" mentality, you know NOTHING about the disorder and I'd suggest you get your facts straight before commenting about something you don't understand.

  • ugh, this is so sad, during school i have done a few projects on anorexia and its a terrible illness.

    this was well done

  • Very good and confronting video...

  • The media and all the "girly" magazines projects an image to men. Women want to look like the models and look good for their men. Well I say the hell with that. Just be healthy. Keep the weight under control for being healthy only. Tell the men to kiss your butt!

  • So sad! Why do people sacrifice their life to be thin? It's not worth it!

  • anorexia is a mental illness, they don't just decide to wither away you know....:(

  • so scary!

  • this video is increadible. really, the best eating dissorder vid ive seen on youtube. 5 stars, hands down.

  • I'd just like to point out that not all of those celebrities mentioned have actually suffered from an eating disorder, for example Jessica Alba. Other than that, touching video.

  • my god.... :S

  • Heart-breaking, chilling, and haunting. Excellent video. Why is it so hard for all of us to treat ourselves with more kindness and less condemption?

  • my sister loves her songs

  • A sobering look at this terrible disease, and the need to recognize and for early treatment overcome it.

  • 2 other famous women suffered from anorexia the same time as Karen. They were Cathy Rigby (gymnastics champion) and Cherry Boone O'Neill (daughter of Pat Boone, who used to perform with her father and sisters on different t.v. shows).

  • that revised version on 1:17 scared the holy crap out of me (no offense)

  • omg no shit i almost screamed! ahh

  • I dont mean to sound like a douche or anything but i had scary nihtmares from that

  • I am one of the few men that have suffered from anorexia in the past. It truly is a debilitating disease, and it never totally goes away. Those thoughts will always be in my head. But I learn to control them. My lowest weight was around 118 plbs and I am 6'1. I am now a healthier 187 plbs

  • excellent video very sad but shocking at the same time, very thought provoking

  • Great warning video! It lead me to tears...

  • yeah this is a creepy yet needed to be done this way including showing these ladies over the toilet. I mean this is creepy. and the sad thing is karen got into that mess because some stage producer told her to lose ten pounds and she was barely 102 pounds at the time and she went for it and it was downhill from there. I wonder how that man feels now?

  • AnselAdam, thanks 4 posting these videos..i really appreciated what yoou've done, inshaAllah i hope that this video would awaken those with eating disorders, life is beautiful,Allah gave to us so let's live it to the fullest!assalamu'alaikum!

  • I was just watching this video up close on my Laptop....And that picture of Karen how she looked before she died, brought a schock feeling through my body!It was a horror death-mask!My God...poor Karen..and no one could help her...She was so beautiful..brings up the alltime famous 3letter-word:WHY???

  • Now day everybody should be thin, look at al the MTV video s, Young girls and boys getting the whole wrong idea how life should be, i think thats why the youth thinks that the ar fat.. but we must do something about that

  • I have to admit, I was a bit freaked out when the video switched from a healthy Karen Carpenter to what eventually became of her.

  • she looks so different, it so shockin!

  • I wish I would have been near Karen to help that sweet pea! I am still memorized by her music!

  • very good video...

i think you could add that eliana ramos, sister of lusiel, died too of anorexia.

but other than that it is amazing.

  • but also very movin of course and i feel verd sad for karen carpenter coz i keep on prromisin myself i will neva let myself go that far

  • very moving video, esp karen carpenter, wish she was still here and someone had helped her earlier.

  • ok i dont think u need to change relli anythin, but coz i ave anorexia which sometimes switches on and off, i found it quite depressin and sad, especially on dead peepz bit and now im startin to wish i hadnt seen all of it, coz i feel relli bad and sad now, uh geez and to improve i wuld just not do so many pics, coz ater a while u may start to feel queasy and for me very emotional

  • I miss her voice, yet her true voice was to help make others aware of the pain and suffering that so many of us have and do endure, I am thankful for the gifts she gave us. The video was clear that we as a society place too much importance on appearance. Ladies love yourself period!

  • How about adding to the end.. and hose who are still fighting? There are still alot of people fighting.

  • Yes, I'm probably too harsh and rough around the edges. I was going to put that, but I wanted this not to be an inspirational video but a motivation video. The ending is very subtle and not nice. It is saying, "Don't let yourself get too frail to fight." Is that wrong?

  • honestly, i liked it

very diffrent, and had a lot of facts

  • 3:13 isnt very shocking to me

  • Thanks! The point was Helga Brathen was near Karen's age and although not in the spotlight anymore like Karen, her anorexia still plagued her.

  • well...that does make sense

  • I liked this clip. It worked well and was very factual. Although i never knew that Japan was also had the highest death rates towards he death of eating disords alsong with the USA. Can i ask you where you that fact from?

  • Thanks for your comments! Eating disorders in Japan ballooned 10-fold between 1980 and 1998. It is now in second place with the USA in total numbers, but death rate by capita is twice that of USA. See NationMaster dot com.

  • np:)

  • Still one of my favs.

  • Hang in there!

  • I found the use of music and the video itself very powerful indeed. Thankyou for posting this.

  • your video is very good. i just have a few critisim. i agree the music does get very very repetitive. and i found it almost to long, i find movies that are really powerful dont go overboard on the length. it was good though, i have an ED and i found it not insulting, a little sad but it also made me angry at myself. i dont know. but you did well.

  • >> i have an ED and i found it not insulting << Great! This is what I wanted to hear. Repetitive... yeah, making it and listening to it over and over got very old. Maybe I'll swap one of her other songs out in parts.

  • good video! but the song's a little bit repetitive =]

  • Point well taken, thanks!

  • anorexia is such a terrible illness it breaks my heart to see it happen to a young woman who still has a whole life ahead of her but dies from it this is a wonderful video to get it out to the world about anorexia

  • Thank you! It happens to 'real' people.

  • wow your vids are so well made ho do you do them so well

  • Thank you much!

  • audrey hepburn did not have an eating disorder.

  • Audrey Hepburn is what pro-Anna sites point to as slender without an eating disorder. She never admitted an eating disorder but her yoyo weight and depression cause the experts to think differently. You can decide. She was 5' 7" and dropped to 94 lbs at one point. (42.6 kilograms)

  • i suffer from an ed. you did a wonderful job on this. one day i hope i can get away from this mess..but as of right now..i'm stuck. again, great job.

  • Keep trying... we'll keep praying! Good luck.

  • what is the song? please

    think you

  • We've Only Just Begun

  • beautiful.

  • Thanks!

  • beautiful vidéo!! it is so true!

BRAVO (sorry i don't speak very well english, I'm french).

  • I certainly understand BRAVO... Thank you very much!

  • Really good pics. And so many sad stories. the picture of the chinesse girl (I guess...) was really shocking.

    It is sad.

How can they hurt theirselves so much just for look "beautiful"?

  • I had enough stories to fill a couple more hours. These weren't necessarily the best/worst but shows somewhat a range of people. Nuxk, why do I feel that I'm the only one not going to a recital? With you, dabiribd and ryanstewartmusic, I feel like I need to buy a piano. Like I told Ben (dabiribd), I barely mastered how to play the radio in my car. You guys all sound great!

  • this made me sad! as a younge teenager i too almost got that bad but thanks to the love of my mother i got over it. when i see those images it makes me think of what could have happend to me i think perhaps the names of the celebrityies sould stay up for longer to show that they dont actualy look good they look like theyre dying

  • Good point about the names, and thanks for the feedback! I had a hard time deciding if it should be a "blur" with a few recognizable names or allow ones to be read one by one. So I did something stupid and did an in-between. That part of the video does bug me and slow it down on the next vid (besides adding many more names).

  • That's a great comment! For you young folks, parents are your rock. Make no mistake about that. And even when you're much older, as well. If you need their help, tell them. Sometimes adults need to be woken up that you may not be going through life as smoothly as they had when they were young.

  • Wow, this is so sad. thank you for bringing such attention to it. You went to a lot of work to put this together. I commend you for that. I hope this will move someone with an eating disorder to get help. Who knows you may be saving lives!

    Cheers to you,

    Ryan

  • I hope so in my own little way. Every drop counts, I think, and I hope some will be on the edge where this vid turns the light bulb on in their head or has them at least wonder where the light switch is located.

  • When I watch this movie, I take fatty as a compliment! lol

  • Yeah, being perfect is perfectly impossible. - I would attribute that quote to someone but since I just made it up, it's probably just nonsense, LOL. Anyway, I think being left or right of center is just fine. It's when you got to the far edges and stay there for any length of time do you get in trouble.

  • Amazing video. Thank you for posting it. I was well put together.

  • And thank you for your nice comments!

  • its just so scary to see these pictures.

  • Yes, some are unbelievable.

  • Amazing video! Excellently put together, the song was perfect, and the bibliography at the end was a nice touch. =)

  • Thanks raven! And thanks as well for your video post. It is great and I like the quote from Bill Cosby. I also like how it draws you into the end. Thanks for sharing!

  • OMG! AWESOME video. Thanks

  • Well, thank you, dabiribd! I'm going to consider your post, your autograph, and clearly it will be very valuable in the near future. Folks, if you are ready to be amazed, and I mean REALLY amazed, take a look at dabiribd's videos. He is an astounding talent!

  • This is the best and moist indepth one i have studied for an assignnment! Its like i said to another ana movie "This is what Hitler did to the Jews, Gypsies, disabled and different. They didnt have a choice - starving to death was one of the "nicer ways to die". But ana sufferers do, they should think themselves lucky that there's chocolate, butter, bread and pasta availble to Them."

Thanks for trying, you have done a great job and im sure your efforts have been appreacated.

    Lydia

    xxx

  • Thanks for your comments vicaragechick! What they see and what we see are two different things, I'm afraid. As far as the "nicer ways to die." When I worked in a hospital the staff had a dark humor slogan of, "The safest place to die is in a hospital."

  • great video, great job!

  • Thanks Isabella! I'm glad you liked it.

  • This is a great video, probably the best ive seen so far on youtube about anorexia...and i have seen alot. Great job.

  • Thank you for your kind comment and taking the time to respond!

  • Hi I'm sorry that I offended you with my Karen Carpenter video and the facts that I got wrong. The point of me making the video wasn't to discuss eating disorders or a singers death but to put a song really fast on the record player and dance around. Anyway I did not get any of my facts from this video because I was not aware of this videos existence until you left your comment so no worries. Oh and please don't kick my ass :-)

  • LOL! Nope I wasn't offended but scared that my video encouraged you and you saw it after I made my first post on you and your friends video. And yes, you looked really funny dancing around real fast... you did that well. I wasn't being real factual either... I wasn't going to kick your ass, but wring your neck instead :)

  • Oh good I feel much better now

  • This video's shock effect would only work on the healthy mind. To the mind plagued with an eating disorder the images of all the thin people would only serve to inspire them.

  • You might be right. I tend to think truth is the best medicine and this video is intended to present the unhidden facts. For those that beat this disease the truth without preaching is what slowly gave them strength. Many treat these patients with kid gloves as though they are too fragile where in fact it is the disease that blocks the truth which makes them fragile. So there is a fine line that no one has yet found in my opinion... nor have I. Thanks for your comment!

  • This is the best video I have ever seen so far in addressing this dreadful painful disorder. Please get it as far into every School and youth Club and every place who will display it. Doctors waiting rooms. But wonderful as it is unless there are people prepared to help no shock tactics will be of use. Thankyou so much for all the time and effort you have put in creating this video

  • I didn't plan on responding to every comment but now that I started I don't want to leave you out Jessyca. I really appreciate you taking the time to post and your comments mean a lot. If anyone wants to learn what this world "could be," check out this fine lady's site. If I had a nickel for everyone I met of your quality, I'd have five cents.
