  • I love vintage stuff

  • Muppets!!

  • This is the very first video I ever watched on YouTube!

  • I wonder what part the monsters liked more, seeing people get eaten or blown up.

  • Ga en from muppet 30 years.

  • I remember watching this on here some years ago and 00:43 scaring the daylights out of me. It still creeps me out. When you grow up not seeing muppets eat muppets I don't think you get used to it.

  • @TroyCutie679 YES. I remember watching this special as a kid and this is the only part that has been planted in my head. It is very creepy indeed.

  • The puppets on our channel still have monsters and end with explosions.

  • Does anyone know who the character is at 0:30 or what he appeared in?

  • Huh. This is wierdly depressing for me.

  • 1:20 In Soviet Russia, horn blows you.

  • @Fragglevision You made my day, thank you haha

  • as i seem to have said a while ago on this video....i think the puppets swollowing other puppets on here is too much for children. that could scare the shit out of a kid and make them reallt terrified. i got terrified just watching and i'm 18 and married.

  • Those were the days. You can´t show anything like this to nowadays lame ass kids, because they would be "traumatized by the violence"...that is why you see all the crappy kids shows they have to endure these days...

  • 15 people are obviously not related to Crazy Harry

  • i wonder if those monsters are michel bay fans

  • I'm ugly I'm ugly as sin

    But beauty's out- ugly's in

If you're ugly like me you're in good companyyyyy

THERE ARE MILLIONS OF US WHO ARE UGLY

  • How many times did kermit get eaten or blown up?

  • I remember this!! :D This is awesome, tv should be like this still!

  • This is why the Muppets are awesome.

  • I saw this on the TV when I was little and it scared the shit out of me. I ran all the way downstairs, and there was a delay so I saw the part that terrified me ALL OVER AGAIN.

  • From what I saw the only Sesame Street monsters in this video were the Two-Headed Monster and the green monster between LCM and a Frackle, right?

  • Everything is better with explosions and monster cannibalism.

  • what's the name of the blue pointy-eared monster in 0.23?

  • @spiderlime It's just a Blue Frackle.

  • the monsters eating the other puppets would have really made me sad and scared as a 6 year old when i use to watch this.

  • @FromA2mee o my I had night mares about this when I was a kid Jim Henson was messes up...

  • What an epic entrance for The Count at the tail end of the video.

  • 1:15 JAJAJAJAJA

  • Cookie Monster used to have teeth? He's kinda scary lookin' with teeth.

  • Yeah lol

  • cookie monster isn't in this...this isn't sesame street it's all from The Muppet Show

  • Yes he is, look closer at the black and white footage. Cookie Monster and Rowlf the dog actually predate Sesame Street.

  • I guess I must have blinked for that split second. I thought the person meant the yellow monster.

I do know both of them predate sesame street.

  • XOXO

  • Ah, monsterz.

  • this no sesame street this muppets

  • before Sesame Street have a black humor, a good humor, make me laugh. Today is a dumb program without grace. Good Footage :)

  • You do realize that virtually every frame of that was *not* Sesame Street. Jim Henson was working puppetry on TV for about a decade before Sesame Street, including coffee commercials involving shooting puppets with cannons. In addition, most of this is from the Muppet Show. I believe there is a grand total of one, maybe two, clips in that entire thing which were Sesame Street.

  • Jim Henson even worked (after sesame Street I think) on sci-fi shows, some quite "serious" with violence, sex and all...

But his work from the time shown in this vid was really awesome, cynical, simple but intertaining :P

  • lol

  • True. the poster should have titled it:

    Vintage Muppets 1812 Overture

  • What is this song called and where are the lyrics?

  • the song is called 1812 overture. there are no lyrics, its just an instrumental piece

  • i'm referring o the monster song.

  • The Muppets - I'm Ugly. you can find the lyrics if you search them on google

  • that is a lot of muppets....

  • Good when Kermit gets eaten. (Funny - It's not like I hate him).

  • I used to love these ..:D

  • lmao sum violent shit

  • Bravissimo~! Excellent compilation.

  • lol, if i were a muppet i'd be a huge monster with googly eyes and huge sets of teeth! i'd devour them all!!!!!! >:D

  • they are not

  • man the muppits are violent

  • go puppets!lol

  • I fucking love this XP

  • god! puppets freak me out!!!

  • The vore and the explotions were the funnist things about the muppets, if they getting eaten, they were getting blown up.

  • Yo iz dat cookie monsta at 1:10

  • this isnt sesame street XD

    but, muppets ftw

  • I bet the Sesame Street characters were appalled and offended.

  • Great stuff. An excellent Muppet montage.

  • I love that song man i ish someone would post it on youtube

  • Just exactly which monsters are at the table with Sweetums?

  • the yellow one i think is called pops and the other is DogLion

  • Am I the only one who noticed the brief clip of Ploobis and Scred from SNL on this? It was good to see them, since they're usually not mentioned in most muppet retrospectives, because they weren't a successful on SNL and only lasted the first season.

  • the one in the Jack Parr clip may have gotten the tittle of being creapy and weird, but @ 1:04, what the heck is that monster? better resemblence @1:03!

  • the jack paar show clip- that monster looks a bit creipir than past ones iv'e seen.

  • tell me about it! LOL yorick was just plain weird!

  • I totally agree xD

  • I think this is why children today are afraid of monsters eating them ..

  • no way, I grew up with this! It's awesome!

  • yeah, those monsters do look pretty intimidating......

  • if you like muppet then come on my channel i got muppet tonight episode

  • Behemoth may be just a hand puppet these days, but he still looks like he could used as a full-body monster, doesn't he? Look how big he is compared to the other monsters.

  • that is fozzie bear.

  • I haven't laughed at something by Jim Henson like I did at this clip in a LONG time

  • Originally there was just the muppets sesame street came afterwards

  • i always thought the explosions on Muppet Show was scary, but then again i was a little kid when the Muppet Show came out.

  • Monsters. Me like monsters; and explosions. Me like explosions too. Me rate five. Ha ha ha. Five stars for monsters and explosions. Two stars for monsters and three stars for explosions. Sorry, me give no stars for music.

  • Most of this was just creepy.

  • ya know which muppet moment is my favorite and very hard to find? Hugga Wugga Buggy Mugger, inwhich these wierd monsters live in this mist and this big one shoots steam at the others.

  • I love that one too, althugh I was really sad & disappointed when the "Hugga Wugga" monster (Frank Oz) lost out to the one singing "You Are My Sunshine" (Jerry Nelson)

  • dont cha think this would be too violent for children?

  • funny though...like 58 seconds :D

  • Dont cha think that you need keep that to yourself? If you say that, they'll take this off YouTube and replace it with that Barney shit!!!

  • if they aint deleting porno, they shure aint deleting this

  • You watch PORN?!!! That's kinda weird seeing as how IT'S NOT FOR CHILDREN!!

  • =.=...

  • Yeah! uh-huh!

  • great clip but this is the muppet show...not sesame street. Both by Jim henson though

  • Well there are Sesame Street characters in it, so that makes sense why it was labeled as "Sesame Street." You see the Two-Headed Monster and the Count in this one.

  • That is so violent. Especially when the big monsters ate the little monsters. They used to give me nightmares as a kid, lol.

  • Hey, does anyone know the name of the muppet at :29? I'm trying to find an old sketch with him and Kermit dressed as a woman (or some random female frog). It was from the Jack Parr/Steve Allen days. If anyone knows where I can find that clip, I'd be eternally grateful! GREAT CLIPS BTW!

  • The Muppet at :29 is named Yorick, a character from Jim Henson's original Muppet show titled "Sam and Friends". The sketch he appears in with Kermit (in drag) has Kermit lip-synching to Rosemary Clooney's "I've Grown Accustomed to Your Face" and a version is availabe on DVD on "Muppets Magic from The Ed Sullivan Show". Just check on Amazon.

  • Kermit looks like a Gecko in the B&W footage....LMAO

  • yeah he does!

  • That's because he used to be a lizard

  • how they dont show this stuff anymore?

  • watching kermit and other frogs get eaten multiple times would be so traumatizing to a child. i'm glad i saw this now and not 15 years ago!! this is really funny! haha

  • come on! what does a kid do when he got a puppet like these; he makes them bite!

  • That Shit creeps me right the fuck out now!

  • XD it was realy funny in the old times

  • kids' shows used to be so much better. the educational stuff now makes me scared for kids' brains...

  • This was some awesome shit!

  • wtf just happen????

  • his head a splode

  • ahh, the two-headed monster!

  • They got blowed up reeeel good

they was eatin a frog back in the day

  • I think the black and white clips was "Sam and freinds"

  • Some of the B&W clips were from Sam and friends...yeah, and Wilkin's Coffee commercials as well. I loved that special the Muppet's 30th that was soo cool. You got to love the calssie Muppets they were da stuff.

  • I heart Sweetums!!

  • haha! I love it. that muppet at the end that was laughing always creeped me out though. Always reminds me of a freaky deaky on the subway.

  • It looks like Rasputin, hehe!!

  • That was Crazy Harry, one of my old favorites... "Did someone say dynamite?" BOOM!

  • The classic years. Awesome. (but, psst... not sesame street)

  • that was totally awesome!!!! it brings back so many memories!! :*(

  • The Muppet Show had some violent stuff on there!

  • They should have added Fred the Dragon in this, he was a scary muppet too! :O

  • someone ought to do a video on Banned songs from Sesame Street like D is for di--- or earnie singing rubber d----y you're the one you make bedtime so much fun..sorry just in a mischievious mood.

  • Jim certainly had a thing for destroying his Muppets, didn't he?

  • Oh my god no wonder kids of the 60's ended up on drugs in the 70's...they wanted to forget those frightening muppets.

  • muppets idiot

  • muppets NOT sesame st

  • it is both if you see in the start you see big bird and the two purple monsters from sesame street

  • Sesame are Muppets. Their called the Sesame Street Muppets.

  • whoever titles this clip is an idiot. This is the Muppet show, not Sesame Street!

  • it is both if you see in the start you see big bird and the two purple monsters from sesame street

  • its muppets!

  • it is both if you see in the start you see big bird and the two purple monsters from sesame street

  • Musiclover 19: Yes, all Sesame Street characters are Muppets, but not all Muppets are from Sesame Street. Every clip used in this video is from either The Ed Sullivan Show, which predated Sesame Street, or The Muppet Show. These clips have nothing to do with Sesame Street.

Having said that, I really do enjoy this video. It's from a tribute to Jim Henson that was aired on TV quite a few years ago. It's great to see part of it again. Thanks for sharing, soylentgreen.

  • it is both if you see in the start you see big bird and the two purple monsters from sesame street

  • Yes PrimitivePuppets, you're right this is not from the Sesame Street show.

However you're wrong in that this is not from a tribute to Jim Henson. It was a celebration of the Muppets 30 years. Jim was still alive and was seen at the end of this special being handed the "bill" from Grover. Trust me I have both the Tribute to Jim after his death on DVD and this 30 years Special on VHS. It's not a tribute to Jim, it's rather to the Muppets all together.

  • Good call, Musiclover19. I should have known; I have the Jim Henson tribute as well. I just remembered seeing this special on TV but didn't remember Jim being in it. Thanks for the clarification.

  • Your very welcome PrimitivePuppets.

  • I heard that

  • I heard that

  • Really wild, Sir!

  • 1812 overture, and its muppets, not sesame street

  • Sesame Street is Muppets. There the Sesame Street Muppets. Sesame Street, Muppets and Fraggle Rock are all part of the Muppet family. I don't know why people don't get that.

  • it is both if you see in the start you see big bird and the two purple monsters from sesame street

  • what the name of the song?

  • Great clip! OMG, Proto Cookie Monster with teeth is really disturbing! And Proto Kermit was so cute and stubby!

  • i loved the muppets back then it was something that was funny until Political correctness came :P

  • This isn't Sesame Street, it's the Muppet's Show.

  • it is both if you see in the start you see big bird and the two purple monsters from sesame street

  • The Count is also at the end of the clip.

  • Muppets had a lot of freaky things, check out these two videos, the Count Of 10 from old Sesame Street, and The organized Mind with Limbo, both are scanimate, both are Jim Henson, those two are on youtube and pretty creepy stuff.

  • Hello, I'm a new member. Man I'm really happy that this Muppet clip is on here for me to wacth. I wish they would come out with Muppets: A Cecbration of 30 Years, I would totally buy it. I'm a huge Jim Henson fan.

  • Hahahah, got to love the slapstick and imagination of Jim Henson. I think this was from the special after Jim Henson's death. That Razor Monster was pretty creepy looking though.

  • think this was from the special after Jim Henson's death.

No Jim was alive during this, I remember wacthing it on tv at the very ending Jim Henson was there, being served by Grover.

  • This isn't sesame street

  • Well it does have the original prototype Cookie Monster exploding in one shot, if that counts. And a lot of the muppets in this are prototypes for ones that would be used on Sesame Street

  • Plus The Two headed Monster, he's a Sesame Street Muppet.

  • who is that muppet with the horns?

  • Which one? There's a few. The big muppet monster with horns behind Sweetums is called Doglion (due to him looking like a cross Dog/Lion). The only other monster to speak has horns and two heads, hints he's named The Two-Headed Monster, he's from Sesame Street. And the smaller Muppet with holds in front of Sweetums never really had a name, so he's know to hardcore fans as Lunchoen Counter Monster, due to him sitting on Lunchoen Counter eating everying. Hope that answer you question.

  • The Two-Headed Monster is named Frank and Stein. I read it in a Muppets book circa 1980.

  • No that's just a rumored name. They never really did have a name, just "Two-Headed Monster" that's even the package said when they were supposed to get their own action figure thought Palisades toys, before they fold. That still breaks my heart. But trust me I know my Muppets.

  • The Lunch Counter one, was that the one with Nancy Walker where Fozzy kept putting stuff on the counter (glasses, plates, etc.) and he'd eat it while they weren't looking?

  • Muppets: A Celebration of 30 Years

  • What show was this from?
