  • i love his backhand so so much

  • roddick and his lousy approaches.

  • absoulute federer like tie-break by gasquet

  • i have highlights of the whole match in 2 videos part 1 is up now ill upload part 2 tommorow

  • gasquet! allez!

  • Remember that evening.. I lost a lot money on Roddick then... It was evening before my cousin's weeding.. There i met with my godfather , who sadly died last year , only 43-44 years old

  • QF????

  • Roddick was playing rubbishly.

  • no i mean gasquet played very good

  • GASQUET...

my FAVOURITE TENNIS PLAYER, HIS STYLE AND PERSONLITY.

BEST BACKHAND ALL OVER THE WORLD

  • Oh yeah! I remember this match! It was so amazing!

Gasquet had made an incredible amount of passing shot. Very good playing.

I hope, after all he's been through, he will come back better and stronger! Welcome back on the court, Richie!! ;)

Sorry for bad english, I'm french!!

  • my FAVOURITE TENNIS PLAYER, HIS STYLE AND PERSONLITY.

BEST BACKHAND ALL OVER THE WORLD

  • your english was good ;)

  • i just cant understand how a player like gasquet who's got pretty flawless technique on every shot in the book (volley, backhand, serve) can have so generic and unreliable forehand

  • people who have as much talent as gasquet think they dont need work hard because it comes naturally, but the people who dont, work their ass off and therefor have more drive and will to win!

  • Imho gasquet gets a lot of money without even tryin... I guess that's fine with him.

  • @federerownz Spot on! Likewise Safin, Nalbandian, maybe Haas but he's had injury problems every year and that's probably due to his horrible luck. But yeah, that seems to be tendency in sport doesn't it, if you have success early on, you can take that for granted and think that everything will come easy in life, but it actually becomes harder. Talented guys have pieces of the puzzle ahead of them, it's just a matter of putting them all together. Fed connected it in 2003..Gasquet=20??, never?

  • can someone plsss explain to me why gasquet won the match even at the end roddick had two sets and gasquet had 2 sets? it was on scoreboard

  • Gasquet didn't win the match at the end of the vid, he just won the 4th set. The video title does read "4th set highlights", right? :)

Gotta love that last backhand. Just beautifully done.

  • richard actually won this match against andy :-) it was a five set match... but yeah this is the 4th set highlights, as someone has said :-) hope that clears you up :-)

  • 2:49-2:51 was nadal-like forehand

reason: heaps of topspin, just hit the line, and an absolute ripper of a shit

  • meant to say "shot*" sorry :( :(

  • OMFG WTF Roddick.

why approach mid -court balls to gasquet's backhand. why.

  • Gasquets beautiful to watch when hes playing his best :D

  • Gasquet strengths:

    -great overhead

    -world class volleys

    -effortless court movement

    -world class penetrating flat backhand

    could improve:

-needs to drive through his forehands opposed to half motion finish for gratuitous topspin

-more leg bend on his service motion to win additional cheap points

I love this guy to death!

  • Needs to improve his mental strength and stamina too. Its painful watching him fall apart on court

  • no offense here, but you forgot to point out the most crucial issues with gasquet, which is that he lack´s the proper competitive intensity, self-belief and fighting spirit to win, he can be so dull emotionally, spiritually on the court..you never get the impression, that he really want´s it that bad, that´s his biggest downfall, unfortunately! and his fitness can be an issue in long matches..as brad gilbert well say´s ``no mind, no game´´

  • I was merely referring to the technical aspects of Gasquet's game as your pts are excellent & do not conflict with my opinions since it is in reference to his mental toughness.

  • sure, I respect your opinion, it´s just a shame that someone with that amount of talent, doesn´t really seem to show the heart, spirit and hunger to win as well..he just doesn´t seem to have much of a competitive nature..technically he´s better than most player´s.

  • Totally understood. It is very frustrating watching him play @ times but those flashes of brilliance can be very mesmerizing, lol.

  • he´s got brilliant shotmaking especially on that backhand, no doubt about it.

  • Gasquet can be an awesome player sometimes !

    But he is inconsistent.

  • hope he'll enjoy more tennis now that he was so close to see his career end.

Allez richard, just play for pleasure of tennis ,you're just irresistible when you are like that

    good luck!

  • hopefully it will shake his ass up, the drug charge was probably a blessing in disguise, maybe he will change his attitude, step up and man up, or maybe hell just remain a choker..

  • Gasquet has SO much potential, his playing style is just beautiful.

I'm really disappointed at the prospect of a 2 year ban :(

  • dude gasquet is awesome! his backhand is the best in tennis at least the best one handed without a doubt nizzle diizzle

  • The verdict was made public today. His ban is over, he's free to compete now, WOOHOO!

  • gasquet/s backhand is just amazing generates a lot of power and great angles all the time

  • Gasquet... So much talent...

Look at how effortlessly he generates racket speed. Insane.

  • is he? i thought i just saw gaskit givin him a pasting!!

  • drug addict

  • I love Gasquets buggy whip shot(follow through on right shoulder) its effin wicked looking!

  • roddick is so good

  • Lmao, Ricky's a druggie

  • no, he just kissed a girl.

yeah right but good on him, what a player

  • gasquet is good just 2 bad he tested positive on cocaine

  • I really appreciate these highlights, but would love to see the 3rd set ones as well!

  • Gasquet could definitely beat Nadal on grass...please lift the ban. Fyi, that's how you hit a backhand Mr. Roddick

  • show me the fucking cocaine

  • fuck u - he's innocent!!

  • no he fucking is not

  • gasquet - such a talent yet still has not played close to his ability.... love his backhand mimicks henin's and mauremso's on the women's side......

  • This entire match was just winner after winner for both guys. Awesome match.

  • what happened to the 3rd and 5th set videos? bring them back! please!

  • awesome match from richard, so bad he lost to murrray in 08, he could have beaten nadal, maybe.

  • insane backhands

  • no HD?

  • yes HQ

  • whats HQ?

  • Andy looked really slow in this match. He took his foot off the gas and Richard caught fire. Simple as that.

  • no high resolution...

  • hahaha gasquets backhand = pure sex

  • I remember preparing for the CPA Exam and watching this match. I watched the first two sets thinking Roddick had it. I turned off the TV and went back to studying...90 minutes later I turn the TV back on to see Gasquet fall to his knees after winning match point. True Story :)

  • roddick is suck a lil fag he thinks hes the best damn player and gasquet was freakin making him look like a joke! in the long run gasquet is gonna have a better career then fagdick.

  • Gasquet and Murray should be top five. Murray is now but Gasquet should be up there with him!

  • But sadly,he will never be

  • Roddick, four finals in Grand Slam...

  • Roddick = Rod + Dick

  • jado+relv=jadorelv

    ...

    no dick

  • that fuckin shit made no sense

  • nOOb

  • he will become the best player in the world some day...he is my favorite player ! but roddick is a little noob.powerfull server and nothing more. he doesnt run to catch the drops.

  • a well executed drop shot is usually unreachable..like some of the ones done here.

  • EPIC BACKHAND

  • Richard Gasquet = Baby Federer

  • Safina + Sharapova = Djokovic in a good day.

  • Dick + pussy= baby

  • This was an epic match.

  • thats how you play a tie-break......

  • Lol 2:52.

  • richard finally showed some heart..

  • that backhand on set point is just crazy!!! and the scream is sexy ;) I want him to play more like that he's just like Amelie needs time to realize what a classy champion he can be ...

  • *that forehand follow thru

  • wow i never knew gasquet used the forehand follow thru so much. i like the way he does it its cool

  • aaaahhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhh

  • backhand at setpoint is ridiculous

  • Listen to the sound of Gasquet's screaming forehand at 02.50. Can a shot be more cleanly struck than that?

  • i was there! waheey, gasquet was awesome, especially off the backhand side...so many winners struck down the line.

  • serve u retard

  • that last backhand by gasquet, the speed behind him said 96 mph. is that the speed for the last serve? or for his backhand?

  • grrrrr ahhhhhhhhh

  • la classe Richard!

  • How didnt Roddick get more games by taking advantage of Gasquets second serve?

  • Great backhand!

  • gasquet needs to return the 2nd serve more like he did at 2:01..that was unbelievable..

  • is it just me or does gasquet have a strange looking forehand?

  • yup one the best !!he hooks it !!kinda i would say 1/2 way nadals forehand not quite thoguh!!pretty sweet huh??

  • its just that he uses a continental grip or something very close. like his backhand, it's incredibly stylish. and FedererTKing what are you talking about? i can see how you made a reference to nadal, with all the strange positions gasquets forehand finishes in, but nadal uses something like an extreme western to richards continental

  • There's no way that's a continental, no pro has used that for a topspin forehand since McEnroe. Gasquet uses a semi-western on the forehand and a modified eastern for his backhand.

  • ive since realized that its a different grip, but it is absolutely not a semi-western. close, but more eastern. and that backhand is just awesome

  • Roddick should've been more aggressive from the baseline and he would've won this match. He forced Gasquet to make the low-percentage backhand down the line but that shot is Gasquet's bread and butter so he couldn't miss. Unfortunately for Roddick, Gasquet is also superb at crosscourt passing shots.

Roddick was too passive in his play, he should've dictated the points with his superior firepower off the baseline.

  • he wasn't passive but Gasquet was the one managed to read Roddick's serve and went Federer on Andy's ass and brought Roddick at the net and passed him!

  • Yeah but Roddick's no Edberg at the net. He made all the wrong approach shots. Anyway, full credit to Richard (who is my favorite player) for taking advantage of Roddick's poor tactics.

  • yes he is and never will be an Edberg;boy was Edberg a joy to watch.

As for Gasquet;seems like Richard's been paying attention at how Roger brings the American in and then passes him at will.Brilliant!

  • Not much Roddick could have done against Gasquet in this form. The talent this kid has is incredible and at the end of the day, when playing at their best, he is the better player.

  • I agree, but it seem´s weird that andy doesn´t hit winners on his forehand so easily these day´s,not like in the past,I don´t know, maybe he´s trying to put more emphasis on control rather than power..gasquet got so agressive with all those winners, it reminded me of federer when he hit 45winners on roddick at the Aus.Open in 2007..andy must reavaluate his approach..

  • it's impossible for roddick to deal with gasquet on the baseline with this backhand! the only thing that he can hang on is his serve!

  • The GREATEST MATCH OF THE YEAR !

  • 3:32 amazing... gasquet the best

  • omg what a freakin return on 2:07

  • wow when i see play like that, i cant see why he cant trouble any of the top 3 players

  • you have to fell sorry for roddick because he was up to sets and break of serve in the the third set and then qasquet just started hitting winners from everywhere

  • What a backhand on set point !!! lol

  • "the best backhand in the world " !! Yes I agree ;) !! Gasquet is the best !!

  • the best backhand in the world

  • too good....hope he keeps it up this way...:X da match...

  • the backhan on set point was unbelievable!

  • thanks for the upload! i love the "arrggh..." at the end of the set from richard. i've never seen him so fired up...LOVE IT!

  • no kidding he was playing even better there then when he beat Federer in 2005;this guys is going to be fantastic in the future, just fantastic.

  • what a match! Gasquet played incredible!
