  • I have a lot of respect for you. I have been on that mountain many times but have never even thought of walking up it! You are awesome!!! God Bless You!

  • I read about your run, and about the two gentleman who met you at Currahee when you left the memorial on the wild Bill Guarnere forum. Hopefully the museum did retrieve it. My daughter is 17, she runs track and cross country, it was a special day to have her with me on the run. Many people throughout the world seem to have forgotten what American soldiers did, even many Americans. There seems to be a lot of hate for Americans now.

  • My daughter and I ran it last week, we looked for the memorial you left for Major Winters, but sadly it is gone. I ran it again yesterday and someone has left another memorial to him on top, maybe this one will be left alone. Your story is an inspiration to me. Thanks for the respect you have given to American soldiers.

  • @14chaos2

Thanks for the nice words. How did you know about the memerial I left for Winters?

There is a chance it was retrieved by the Toccoa Museum (Stephens County Historical Museum in Toccoa.)

How old is your daughter? I've hiked Currahee during the summer (too hot) with my 16 year old son.

The respect is always there. We owe them big-time, overhere in Holland and in fact in Europe.

    rgds.

  • Great video. Just finished Beyond Band of Brothers . I hope to do this mountain this summer. Might not run the whole way, but I will make it, and be thinking of all those heroes the whole time. Just also learned Major Winters died last month. Steve/OHIO

  • @Brookside975

Good luck, but beware of the Georgian Summer Heat !It might just be too hot to actually run Currahee.

    Take along lots of water....

  • I go 400 pounds right now (28 stone). But October 2012, I too will run Currahee, in a similar, life-affirming celebration of triumph over disease.

Thank you much Flores for this beautiful compilation. Bravo good sir.

  • Good stuff Flores. Came across this by accident. Did you put a link to this on the WBG site? Gotta say, I think that was quite a way to travel just to go for a jog.

    maddevon

  • I ran this mountain too and let me tell you it's no easy run.

  • i live in toccoa and i love the video. many of the people who live her forget about the history of currhee and the men who trained there as you can tell from the littering and graffiti on the rocks. im sure if you have been reading the stories and learning more ab the soldiers who trained there then you have already seen the movie Band of Brothers but if you haven't you should watch it . once again grate video and story

  • @turpin03 my grandaddy i think was in the currhee miltary camp up there

  • i hope i get to visit toccoa, georgia some day.

  • @69chrger if u do ur gonna love it thats where i live and i go up and down that mountain every year and plus its not far from where i live :D
