I saw this piano at a NAMM show and I think at a PTG convention....rather impressed.
What Del didn't say(but only unintentionally as far as the mechanics in the action goes)is that there are cams which assist the return of the jack enabling the double action that the piano has.
I count myself blessed to own one of these pianos. Raising seven musical kids in densely populated Tokyo, we could never find space for a grand piano that would surpass this upright . . . let alone AFFORD one! This piano needs to come back into production! For people in crowded places like Asia's cities, it is just what the doctor ordered. FANTASTIC VALUE. ALL of Delwin and Dale Fandrich's wonderful ideas need to be fully realized and not just just left between their ears or on a drawing board!
Oops, make that "Darrell," not "Dale." (I just had to pour the last of that bottle of wine into my glass before going online to watch this video.) Anyway, whatever your name is, it's a helluva grand upright piano.
Really interesting, never seen a piano soundboard like this. Most of them only have diagonal ribs across the grain. I would like to hear one close up some day, it already sounds different in the video.
SENSAZIONALE!!

I want one too! They also cost almost the same as their grands. I wonder what the difference in bass string length is?

this is something common to 19° pianos and even before on harpsichords.

Wow this is super cool. I'll have to put this piano on my "to collect when I am rich" list.

Very Interesting!
I would love to play, and hear one in person.
How long ago is this segment?
Have you played one?
