Doesn't the guy interviewing him look like he should be in the KKK? I bet it was awkward when the interviewer first met Marcus "Wow... I didn't realise you were a blacky".
Lol alot has to do with playing the right notes...true true...was in a rehearsal and I said that to the guitar player in reference to myself saying..."It's a beautiful song...if you play the notes right" he thought i was talking about the keyboard player...loll he still laughs about that to this day...
i have too say, i own his signature model and its great, plays really well and is very high quality and you can get many great sounds out of it. of course it will not sound EXACTLY like his bass, but its very close, my bass sounds much like the one in this video. the player is the most important thing
A pre, Sadowsky or otherwise, is really only characterized by the bands chosen to boost or cut. The pre isn't even a true blue Sadowsky pre; it was a tweaked model from another company from way back when. But even still, it's jst a pre. It's not magical. Hell, the guy probably sets it flat or pretty close to flat. Gear will only get you a little bit of the way; your playing will speak much more than any gear.
I respect this guy so much

@Bassplayer163 Why would you think that?! Because I'm bald? Because at the time I had a goatee? What a misconception if there ever was one.

Marcus Miller is one of the few persons in the universe i would like to hug while not knowing him in person.
..second would have been Bernard Edwards (R.i.p.)
True Gents from a time way back..

I have one Yamaha, one Squier... now that Marcus has mentioned it, I'd better go get a fender...
taufoofar 1 year ago
he's got a point virtually every damn bassist either plays a fender has a fender or has had one at some point

I dont know though... His bass, i mean his actual bass has Sadowky preamp in it... fender dont claim to have made a sadowsky level pre???
the other thing...
Why dont they do an A-B test with his actuall Bass and this "Signature series Bass... I know why.
Im a huge fan Of Mr. Miller but I am also aware of such things.

The original pre was a 'stars guitars preamp' It was damaged and replaced with an early bartolini preamp...
MrDaveBass 2 years ago
True, but even still, even the best preamps aren't going to make the music for you.
strongbadian4747 2 years ago
very true...there isn't anything really magical about the preamp, it really does boil down to the player
AndreTheGigante 2 years ago
I believe his original preamp was a Bartolini installed by Roger Sadowsky. At the end of the day Marcus could play any bass and sound great.
