  • J'aurai tellement aimer vivre a l'époque de Gainsbourg. TU NOUS MANQUE REVIENS!!!!!

  • Merci Gainsbourg, merci France Gall !

  • j adore l eurovision

  • ... this is a bit from my youth ... thanks to this song France Gall and the upload to bradchalk.

  • @milansv1 Bonjour, Serge. Merci d'aimer cette chanson.

  • Jak, ja tęsknię ,za tym miejscem czasowym.Trudne do zrozumienia.

  • classic French beauty and - yes! - the eyes have it!

  • classic

  • I remembered this music was used in a TV commercial of Mitsubishi Motors back in 80's in Japan. Even right now, I heard this music in other Japanese TV commercial.

This is one of my favorite musics.

  • no karaoke here live orchestra

  • cute!!

  • She is so beautiful !

Merci :)

  • Everything about France Gal is divinel

  • Could someone please post the lyrics in French or English? c:

  • she looks like alizee just with blond hear lol

  • i´ts a great song, and today , it seems fine. A good experience.

  • @renemill: I would say that the word is innocence… Beauty, joy and sex appeal comes from here innocence.

  • It is for the first time I see this video and hear this song. WOW !!! I have no words to describe the feelings...

@renemill: It is everything you said, but some more. I would say that the innocence is the word. From that innocence it comes the sex appeal, joy, beauty… She is amazingly innocent and beautiful. The song helps here to be like that, as well. Good music, good people...

  • Merci

  • she's not only gorgeous...a little innocent too

  • 可愛い〜love(´・ω・`)ナンダポ

  • sexiest smile and mouth EVAR!!! ^^

  • sienna miller XD

  • Is France a hard language to learn?

  • @Belton155 yes :s

  • @Belton155 french you mean? hell yeah there are like 11 past tences and a lot of "exeption" verbs, which mean that they don't follow usual verb patterns and need to be learned on their own, even many french people can't speak french properly or use tences adequately!

  • @Belton155 No i learnt it in 2/3 years (perfetly) and now i am learning english ^^.

  • arcade fire covered this song.

  • Gang of Fourstar! So Sick!

  • gosh she was a real hottie back then, and she was still a hottie in the 80s

  • She looked gorgeous in a bikini! Song was mostly flat.

  • One of the better Eurovision songs along with Ding-A-Dong.

  • gainsbourg forever

  • Sounds a lot like the OP to sailor moon in japanese.

  • @keyinregulus3

Actually, more like the Japanese Wedding Peach opening, than the Japanese Sailor Moon opening. In fact, I think it is safe to go so far as to say that the Wedding Peach opening song is an adaptation of this song.

  • Hey, it's Sienna Miller :D

  • Man patinka ši daina. I like this song.

    TRES BIEN.

  • She looks shockingly like Sienna Miller

  • Is this the girl that Godard and Chantel Goya were spoofing in' Masculin féminin: 15 faits précis' ? He made a vicious parody of Bergman's great 'The Silence' in that same movie, showing nothing is sacred with that man!

I'm a little green on my French Pop Chanteuses, so excuse me if I'm wrong.

  • Ice picks in the ears would be more pleasurable,

  • what a great song.. so sixties

  • there´s some kind of magic in her eyes,in her smile,in her face,in her voice...there´s a lot of sex appeal in this girl...ain´t she really gorgeous?...i can´t find this sort of beauty in nowadays pop singers...i can´t stop playing this video again and again...lovely...no words...

  • @renemill

    Feeling the same here!

  • @renemill ...yeah, I agree...I think its that little scratchy edge to her voice that gives the impression of a young girl, when they do a close up you can see she's really gorgeous -there's a lot of hot looking pop stars these days but none seem to have her particular "look" or that "sexy yet cute" edge to her voice.

  • @renemill

You find the innocence hot in her face, not the sex appeal. That's the reason you don't find in todays popsingers, there innocence is taken away from them a long time ago.

  • she is cute as a button. I want.

  • Pour moi cette chanson répresente une epoque.

  • She is gorgeous and a great song

  • genial france

    tu nous manque

  • thank u very much habbocea!!!

  • O.O..the sailor moon opening sounds like this..lmao

  • @xSasuNaruAmutox Go watch the Sugar Sugar Rune! Op. This and the sugar sugar rune op. sound almost identical.

  • @tohruyukisprincess

    Wedding Peach, too ;)

  • @xSasuNaruAmutox

do you have listened to the Wedding Peach Opening? :D

  • @xSasuNaruAmutox

    No it doesn't?

  • @BelfastAtheist

yeah it does..not the whole song, but 0:00-0:13 does

  • trop bi1

  • o.O this is the Backround music from Wedding peach opening 2 =0

  • Poopy.

  • beautiful melody, beautiful vocals; of course Gainsbourg was basically calling her his 'wind-up doll', and she sang these mocking lyrics without understanding them at the time. As I understand, she gets it now, and refuses to discuss the subject. Pauvre France - comme je l'adore

  • Luxembourg!!!

It's due to Luxembourg Serge Gainsbourg (the composer of this song) had his real breakthrough by sending this song to the ESC 1965!

    Luxembourg!!!

  • lol i'm german and i only understand "puppe aus wachs"(pouppew de sire)!

but i love this song and can't stop watching. can anybody here please translate the lyrics(text) in english or german?please!!!!!

  • @MickeyMouse12100 :o a german ;o i'm a belgian when are you gonna come by and visite us again like u did in 1940 we miss you!!:p

  • @piellamp lol what do you mean??? 1940 I weren't even BORN! and i've never been to belgien!

    P.S.:Naja was solls ;)

  • @MickeyMouse12100 I am a doll of wax A doll of sawdust My heart is etched in my songs Doll of wax doll of sawdust Am I better am I worse Than a mannequin I see the bright side of life Doll of wax doll of sawdust My records are a mirror Where anyone can see me I'm everywhere at once
  • @MickeyMouse12100 Smashed in a thousand shards of voice Around me I hear laugh Rag dolls Those that dance to my songs Doll of wax doll of sawdust They let themselves be seduced For a yes for a name** Love is not just in songs Doll of wax doll of sawdust Alone sometimes I sigh I ask myself what good Singing about love this way without reason Without knowing anything about boys I'm nothing but a doll of wax Only a doll of sawdust
  • class !

  • This song is featured in the spy novel, "The Tourist."

  • @Luchino

    That's what brought me here.

Having read comments for the hidden meanings in these lyrics (on another YouTube thread for a cover of this song) I think that the protagonist of "The Tourist" liked this song because the lyrics apply somewhat to either to the bad psychological condition he is in, or the bad situation he is in, or both, at the beginning of the novel. I think the author used the song to tell us more about the protagonist's psyche.

  • @RuleOfRoseMysteries It could also show his otherness, as an American. There aren't too many Americans who are into European pop music of the 1960's. It fleshes out his personality as a character in the book. Obviously he is open to cultures other than the one he was born into.

  • @Luchino

Yes, I think that author Olen Steinhauer used it richly with many shades: During Milo's torture, Milo sings a bit of it, which I assumed at first was just holding on to thoughts of his little daughter (who he had influenced, and worked with, to perform the song in the school competition). I'm sure it was that to some degree. But Milo could also be trying to dissociate from the (painful) physical state to being as if a mere doll of wax/bran/sound etc. as well.

    Glad there's a sequel.

  • @RuleOfRoseMysteries Have you tried Steinhauer's 5 related novels about a police commissioner in some unnamed East European country from 1948 until it throws off Communism? It starts with "Bridge of Sighs."

  • @Luchino

As a matter of fact, I'll be starting "Bridge of Sighs" in just a few hours (listening to it as an audiobook).

  • She looks so much like Sienna Miller in this vid!

  • she still alive ?

  • @piellamp yup she is 62

  • this song is absolute classic.. very catchy!

Thank you Gainsbourg for this song!

Superbe !

  • Je t'aime, mon cherie!

    Gruß aus Deutschland!

  • remember her she was the person of the time...Bravo Belle Jour !

  • Wow, it's amazing! I love it! :-)

  • Only a modern person would see a beautiful blonde in a a baby doll dress and not think its about sex appeal.

  • @Porpentein uh, what?

  • @scrapeape He means to say that at that time a woman in a doll's dress was a way of depicting sex or sensuality...a bit like japanese mangas showing school girls in mini skirts...

P.S Betty Boop the Walt Disney cartoon wearing a miniskirt back in the 1930's was considered to be a highly sensual and "depraving" figure at that time....You should see things in their "time context"...society was more conservative then and any clothes showing a woman as a "play thing" directly related to sex...

  • @Varoonmg I understand all of that, but that's not what he was saying.

He said that modern people don't see a beautiful blond woman in a short dress and think "sex", which is a ridiculous statement.

As for baby doll dresses, specifically, we recently had Baby Spice present that look, and the idea behind it, to a whole new generation.
