one of the best ever song writer, honest, loving, true hearted man . Will miss your kind rest in peace my brother, great voice great individualgreat musician. sincerely Rod Aspen
My father was a huge John Denver fan but the mainstream missed the power of Denver;s lyrics - sadly. There is so much beauty in the "rain and fire" in the US nature. Perhaps no-one can express that musically as well as John Denver :-)
I remember seeing one of John Denver's first appearances on the Tonight Show with Johnny Carson. My husband worked nights and he'd get home just before the show started and we saw John; Johnny Carson said that John Denver was someone to keep an eye on because he would be going places. He was amazing. Loved him then, the first time we saw him.
Thank you for your kind words. It is nice to be able to communicate with another real JD fan. I am sorry to hear you never got to one of his concerts.
I only got to see him in concert once. That was in Dublin back in 1977. He was amazing! I have fond memories of that evening to this day. I regret not being able to see him again.
I've just been reading your information page and all the great stuff you've got there about John Denver. I love him too, I was always a fan, but when he died I couldn't bear to listen to his music without starting to bawl. But when my father passed away 3 years ago, his music was such a comfort, I've been listening to it continuously since, it still comforts me. I'm in my 60's, a few years younger than he would be...unfortunately, we were never able to see any of his concerts. Wish we did.
Indeed it must have been. I was coming out of my teens when JD began to rock the world. I had never seen his BBC show in 1973 - I don't seem to know why - and I didn't discover him until he released Annie's Song.

thanks for posting this and thank god for the bbc, where they seemed to appreciate our 70's songwriters more than we did.
