Nice video! My friend here in Denver calls it his reverse poach. Some people say you can watch the server to see which way the net man is really going, but I think that's asking a little too much to process in the split second you have to react! Any thoughts?
@10smike Hey Mike. No question that the server can move too early to cover up behind their net partner and tip off that a poach is just about to happen.
Very tough however for the returner to visually lock on the server instead of the incoming ba;;.
yea ive been trying the fake poach strategy lately, and i find that its really difficult to get the timing of when to poach down, especially if u play with different partners , or ur partner varies the speed of his serve allot. if ur partner is serving really slow, u might end up faking too early, and if their serving fast, then u might not get enough time to cover back
Hi Brent, I've been in this situation before, where I'll be the server's partner, and hug more of the center line, just as my partner would hit the serve, making the receiver think he's got a perfect shot down the line, but just at the last moment, I'll move back to my right ( if I were in the same point as you show here ) and catch the receiver by surprise, as I'm now right there, and angle the volley away and sharply to my left. It work so well with club players I played with. Good or bad ?
@FrostyTheBeerMan Really good play... It's a variation of this video. The game is to keep the returner guessing as to what you're going to do, where you're going to be, etc. Good feedback FTMB...
good example poaching. keep up the good work!

@millionairejh That's right. Fake poaching takes a lot of practice to develop the timing.
