  • I've been ice fishing for years and have yet to catch a cat... I'm fishing near bottom with ruby red live minnows and slay bluegill and crappie but no catfish. What do I need to change?

  • great

  • Before you fellas ask how we got Shovelheads and Blues over 20 pounds including my buddy Frnak's 58 pounder out of a 6 inch hole- we bring a chainsaw!

We mark it with four sticks with orange flags so people can see the hole and not fall through. Safety first, I hope we have another decent ice season down here this year! I'll sit out there all day and night on a bucket watching a bobber. We have a few nice ponds with slab readers and bluegills that are less easy to catch during summer.

  • look at that son of a bihihihihitch! lolol

  • That is my buddy who is the Vikes fan I am a BEARS fan!!!!!!

  • @chelios99 i ,love vikings

  • vikings suck go packers

  • um EAGLES!!!

  • go vikings!! all you who think you've caught bigger... remember this is ice fishing! Not as easy as you think. Great video guys, Minnesota rules!

  • should be called "Ice fishing little kitten", it looks to be 5-6lb tops... not at least. still, nice vid though. doesn't have to be a big fish to have a bad of laughs =)

  • thats a big basssterddddd

  • Catfish are mostly dormant in the winter right?

  • @bigDbigDbigD

Catch channels ice fishing all winter. In the hio it's the best time of year for size and quanity for channels and blue cats. Every couple years I'll get a Flathead to bite but they stay dormant untill tthe water hits 50 degrees or so. Even then there slugish.

  • I have caughten bigger I've caught one that was 57 inches and 50 lb

  • @fishing12301 Not ice fishing you didnt.

  • he's a thrasin' big basterrrrddddddddd

  • What lake was this on?

  • y do u guys use tiny rods is it like stronger or somthing?????

  • They work the best inside of the hut.

  • @chelios99 not to mention the fight is 100x better X)

  • @tuanie1 because if you use a big rod your not likely to see were the fish is if you get it also the rod is long so you will have too be standing like 6 feet away and that way you wont be able to grab the fish when you reel it in.

  • that is a cool vid...except for the purple vikings hat.

  • You tell my buddy that I am a Bears fan not a ViQueens fan lol.

  • is this near rockford?????

  • @xHowieZz No It is in the Mendota area.

  • hell thats a little catfish but then again i am from Texas where we get 60lbs all the time not a bad catch for icefishing not bad at all

  • your a big basterd

  • Scared of a little old catfish. HAHA GRAB that sucker, did you see how he slipped a finger in under the gill slot? My 5 year old would have had him up through the hole 3 runs ago! lucky he didn't break you off!

  • lol ,are u canadian?

  • fucking small

  • U call that big?

    Omg

  • id like to see a better shot of this cat.

  • nice. I saw a guy on Oneida lake in upstate NY bring a big cat through a 10" hole and it wouldn't come though. You could tell as he was pulling he was breaking ribs on the fish. I've never caught cats though the ice (never targeted them), but i have caught a few nice burbot.

  • nice farm pond in ill thats where i live and fish farm ponds. im in mid western ill

  • NICE!!

  • i kinda made my own right after i commented the vid but it sucks its a spring i got from a pen then took a metal hoop and attached it to my jiggin rod

  • where can u get those spring bober things on the tip of your rod

  • I picked them up at farm and fleet you can also get them at gander mountian they are made by frabill I believe you may be able to buy them on line at their website.

  • What bait is best when icefishing for catfish??????????

  • Shovelhead@channelcat21 I fish for cats year round open water or hard water.I live in the Ohio, Indiana, Kentucky area so there are cats a plenty. Shad works for all three, skipjack's great if it's fresh. On hardwater trips we focuse on fish high up on the vex. Channels and Largemouths around here swim a few feet from the surface to feed. Minnows live and chunked work good. Shad or creek chubs are money if you can find them. We caught several last season over 20 pounds. Be patient!!!

  • effin lame! panzy

  • catty thought the ice? wow man! its not like fish stop eating but i think your more likely to catch other fish first,no?thanks for sharing

  • the water is disgusting

  • not bad for a channel

but go for blue or flatheads if you want big cats

    i got a 25 pound flathead and my uncle got a 53

  • nice fish what lake is that i saw vikings hat so i was wondering if it was leach lake or somthing

  • It was a little farm pond in Illinois my buddy is a Vikes fan!!! lol

  • nice little setup you have there

  • thats not big at all nothing to my 24 lb blue cat
