What I want to know is: How can you fire buckshot or even birdshot through a silencer without destroying the silencer? Slugs I understand, bullets in a silenced pistol I understand, but wouldn't buckshot splay out and through the silencer itself after leaving the barrel?

@grimslider When you point your shotgun you are aiming, unless you are not looking down the shotgun with your eyes. If you are not, you are not going to hit anything. Not everyone shoots with both eyes open, I know people who do it both ways, even with rifles and scopes. By the way, only a blind amateur puts a scope on a shotgun, it's a short distance weapon, you don't need a scope. The bottom line is, if you aren't aiming with your shotgun, you aren't going to be very accurate.

blowback operated *-automatic rifles, *-automatic pistols (with a slide, for chambering, cocking, cycling), will have more of an up and down recoil..

if you held a single shot rifle with no moving parts, upside down.. it'd move backwards every time..

@Itachiman231 Don't listen to this russell guy. Its simple physics...the recoil ALWAYS goes straight back. The only reason the muzzle of a shouldered firearm rises is because it is at the top of your body, against your shoulder...thus the easiest place for the energy to transfer is directly back and upwards(because your body will rock back). Its the same as if you gripped a pistol with a standard grip but held it sideways with the top of the slide at the 9 o'clock position....

But in any events, the expanding gas that the suppressor is slowing down also degrade the suppressor. I believe the life of a suppressor is a few hundreds rounds; shorter with rapid and automatic fire.

Moderating shotguns isnt pointless at all, and its never going to be entirely silent, just far less intrusive. Any shotgun is damn loud, and its a rolling boom rather than the sharp crack from a Rifle, its very intrusive at night when out shooting.

What is being shot here are subsonic carts, less powder less muzzle velocity, whilst a moderator will make a difference, a supersonic 'standard' cart will still be very loud, there is no way of making the supersonic crack of the projectile quieter.
