Do keep in mind that this is a demo. The completed version may end up sounding much better than this (also, if it doesn't right away, they may tweak it down the line so that it does)
It's pretty hard to here her, but the song is still pretty interesting. I do agree with @CrystalxKyuubi the english language is hard to replicate digitally, so it's really hard to understand. There was a part I couldn't hardly understand even though I was reading the lyrics.
Will they chill out with Miku. I mean dang Vocaloid 3 is out now ad they want to keep her going. I really wish they'd pay Nee attention to the other vocaloids.
I think it would be nice to see an English Rin and Len in progress. In fact, I'd probably like it more than Miku. Not just because I don't like Miku, its just that.. Miku gets too much. She is the most famous Vocaloid, is thought to be the first by many fans that only just started to like Vocaloid, and she has 6 appends. :| It'd be nice for the other Vocaloids to get attention (like Gachapoid or Kiyoteru or Yuki. Remember them?)I don't mind if people disagree, I'm just stating my honest opinion.
Guys. This is not understandable because it's /not done/. Listen carefully. She's not using as many english phonemes as she should. "look" uses the "oo" phoneme, as in "room". "mirror" uses the "ee" phoneme, as in "knee". It's obvious this is an /unfinished demo/. Therefore, we can't judge how well it is going to be yet. They probably were just rushed to get an English demo out before V3 came out.
This song is still getting perfected while we comment. 70% of it is done. By spring her English will be better. Remember that the person who is behind her voice is learning English. Its not that easy being her.
I understand that Saki Fujita had to learn how to pronounce English syllables properly to record the voicebank, but this just sounds like someone made it with her Japanese one. I really don't see much of a difference, if there is one. :|
That's not true. The problem with English voicebanks is that there's a LOT more syllables, and in many voicebanks they're slurred, making it difficult to create a clear vocal track.
If the music overpowers the vocal track, that's just bad mixing (e.g. bad/no compression paired with bad/no equalization).
I suppose that if one haven't worked with an English voicebank one wouldn't be able to tell the difference though.
@Dojan5 I know that. English was my second language and I had to learn everything in a year because I was going to kinder garden and it is extremely difficult. I play an instrument so I can see when something is being slurred and I know how English is one of the Hardest languages to learn (or even the hardest) because the phonemes are different and their are so many sounds. I know like 'phy" sounds like "ff" and thtat want makes everything difficult. I wish the bad mixing would be fixed.
Regardless though, I don't think I'd be able to understand it without looking at the lyrics. The accent is too heavy, it doesn't sound like Fujita has put any work into making it sound English at all.
Maybe the targeted demographic is Japan and not the rest of the world though, in which case it's a bit more understandable.
The music overpowers the voice a bit...I like the way Oliver is going so far, I can't wait till he comes out, his English is way more understandable and has the best character for an English Vocaloid so far :D
Hm...dang, I feel stupid for being unable to hear and understand Miku over the music without the lyrics. Her previous English demo sounded a lot more clearer to me. >.>
Dang,Hatsune Miku keeps getting better in every new generation of Vocaloid,as far as the english goes, which is really hard for Vocaloids to make out,it went pretty good, pretty sure soon the full potential of her voice will be realized
You speak English, English IS one of the hardest languages one will ever learned.. The sounds are not simple, the phonemes are harder than other languages. I'm bilingual, Spanish is my first language, I had so much trouble back then, I'm not like 20, I'm 13, Enlglish phonemes aren't like other languages. People who speak Spanish, can learn French easier because the phonemes are almost exact. English is complicated for programs. Even on translate alot of things are not pronouced right.
Now my question, is this going to be like an append english because they've already appended Miku, or is it stepping back from Append and making it plain old Miku?
@Shigglywiggly I think is just gonna be a plain english Miku becuase, Crypton said they have no plans for english appends of Miku. But they are considering it for the future.
The music is just over powering her voice-- the English is actually pretty easy to pick out and acutally hear-- you just really have to pay attention and listen for the vocals and not the music itself.
I can understand 95% of what she is saying. There are a few mispronounced vowels here and there, but it's certaintly more clearer than Luka. And English is not too complicated for vocaloids, otherwise why would there be Leon, lola, Sweet Ann, and the other english vocaloids?
@MsLittleanimator Actually English is very complicated for Vocaloids which is why there aren't as many as there are Japanese vocaloids since it takes a lot of hard work to put into it and it doesn't even sound all that understandable. The problem is all the different sounds the English language has, and it's so much harder to make them sing than say do a text to speech thing where you can record the full words.
@MsLittleanimator I never said or thought you weren't supporting them. I just thought it was odd you mentioned English isn't too complicated for Vocaloids when it clearly is. There really isn't any need for you to feel attacked and be rude towards me.
@gaticaeitan The only difference between the two languages is the amount of samples need to recreate their languages. The English can sound understandable but it depends on the user; plus you can pick out faults better in languages you speak than ones you don't. All Vocaloids have trouble with being clear, that's why subtitles go with a lot of their songs. Though it's mostly only the English listeners that complain about the clarity.
I think Vocaloids that come with two different language voicebanks come out quieter because it isn't their naitive language. And there is nothing to blame for that. For example, Luka's English comes out much quieter than her Japanese (stronger than Miku's because her voice provider knows compentent English). And SeeU, her Japanese differers from her Korean.
Amazing, but I still could barely understand it without looking at the lyrics. I don't think the problem lies in the Vocaloids, but the English language itself. Languages like Spanish and Japanese are way more clear cut in pronunciation, but we have so many sounds, exceptions, etc... It's difficult to reproduce digitally.
@CrystalxKyuubi Well kind of, yes the English language is hard to reproduce digitally, but all languages have their problems. Plus most of the issues can be corrected manually.
But clarity is a problem all Vocaloids struggle with. That's why most songs have the lyrics. Also languages you speak fluently you can find errors with better than languages don't.
It also depends on the producer. If they don't speak English than it can only be so good.
Overall, I'd say people not used to the Japanese accent will not understand very well. Listening to Luka over and over again helps. XD The problem with this song is the music, really; it's too loud. I find that it's easier to understand, especially in Luka's case, if the music doesn't overpower the voice. Tempo is also a factor. :3
@yoruyumechan I beg to differ, I was hooping this would be better because I know Miku will sell because she is Miku alone. This is not good... I hope people don't judge the engine on her entirely. :-/
Not too shabby when you follow along with the lyrics. She is a tad quiet though, sounds like a whisper-ish Append. I'd say it's much better than the old demo (one with Kaito Append) and once a real English producer, like Circus-P, gets ahold of her, I'm sure we'll be able to see the full potential of this voicebank.
by hearing her R pronunciation, it shows that this is the real English Miku...
it's very good to developing her, but unfortunately, I think Luka is still the best Japanese-English vocaloid......
