This finale aria was originally written for a mezzo (a la Rosina in Il Barbiere) but sopranos just can't resist the role. Very interesting to hear it sung by both, here.
I don't know, but to me this aria doesn't seem to attract the high sopranos. Seems very few are hitting the high E flat- or are capable of it to end the aria. Nevertheless, it is quite a tour de force for the woman singer. It is my favorite closing aria in opera in fact. I do believe though Devia did hit the E flat in the third part. I heard a couple others who I thought were capable of it that did not try. Excellent compilation nonetheless.
It is true, not many try the higher ending. That said, I would rather hear a solid ending than a flat or unsupported high note. Swenson, Devia, Christy are the only examples I posted of the higher ending, I believe.
@coloraturafan Kudos on the Gulin. Didn't even know she had sung the part. I have a very interesting complete Donna del Lago with Kiri Te Kanawa from the late 60's at the Camden Festival in London, attempting some very adventurous fioriture.
Sans conteste possible, Montserrat CABALLE est la meilleure.

La Donna del Lago (Bianca e Falliero)
And not only, Venecian redaction of «Maometto Secondo» also uses the aria as a finale. :-)

Almost everybody take look at the top notes of the sopranos but
I really love the tremendous Horne´s chest notes there are so awesome.

Caballé absolute mistress,! Normal, it's "La Superba". Elle fait preuve d'une grande maîtrise de la vocalise avec un souffle inépuisable!

Devia and Horne are maybe the major : they sing it with such security, this is confondant !
Thank you for enabling us to compare in that brilliant aria
