Another enthusiastic fan. Wonderful arrangement and IMO this 2006 recording of Not Quite Yet is a better performance than the version on their Old School : New Lessons CD 2005. Better solos all round Bobs really rocks!

I saw Bob Mintzer perform at Highland High School in Arizona today. He came for a jazz competition.

I tell you, it is one thing to see Bob Mintzer on Youtube. It is another to see him live.

If you see him live, you will swear to Jesus Christ that you will listen to his songs...

I actaully got to meet Bob in Fort Wayne for a Jazz contest a couple weeks after this performance, we played computer and he gave our band complements on our playing.

As a a piano & sax player, I think there is too much piano solo in the arrangement, even though it is excellent. A big band is about horns, use them more in the arangement.

Someone above stated tenor player overplay. could never be the case :)

@martyg374 NO WAY.... This is What a Jazz Band is Truly about ... whats the point of only saying half of what you need to say.... I could listen to both of these guys solo all day. A True Jazz Band is about getting Jazz players together a playing great music

I just got the cd in the mail. Old School New Lessons. It has some YellowJackets, Kurt Elling singing My One and Only Love. Mintzer's writing - and playing - is truly timeless.

Wow, Bob Mintzer is great! I met him when I was eight when my dad who's a 40-year long professional musician introduced me to him. Back then he was 36 and now, he's even better which I didn't think capable! Truly Coltrane-esque

I guess none of us are getting any younger. As far as Bob's playing goes, he has a gift for playing just what the music calls for...and no more. Tenor players have a tendency to overplay, but he is rarely guilty of that.
