Both cars are economical but at the same time, they won't bore you to death. When your driving a corolla its as entertaining as jury duty.
The Corollas from the 90s were better in terms of reliability and build quality. They were basic as ever but ran for a long time and didn't have the build hiccups the newer ones have, Hyundai and Suzuki have tighter panel gaps and overall better designs. Toyota isn't what it used to be.

I have the 09' S model, 5 speed and I've been averaging 32 in the City and 36-38MPG on the highway. I also put in a different air filter though, which may or may not have helped.

I don't like this car NOT BECAUSE IT'S A TOYOTA, but it's not the great of a car imo. The interior it's not as good as I thought. Hard plastic and bland design, my sister's 09 civic looks has a better interior than this, AND it was introduced 3 years ago. I don't care if you beg to differ, that's YOUR tastes and you like boring and kinda unsafe feeling cars. I tend to like more sporty cars, for example, BMW Infiniti, Mitsubishi, Volkswagen, maybe Saab (I have a 95 900 NG) but NOT Toyota.

I hated last generation Corolla. I rented for a day thinking that I get a comfy ride and good overall handling. However, all I got was poor performance, harsh seats, and watery handling. I did like the MPG. Thank god 1.8L is stronger (I hope) and 2.4L is a no doubt if someone wants to buy this car. Why don't they just get a 2.0L? I would rather buy Civic if I have to buy this car.

Now the market in Thailand answers the acceptance of this model with Honda civic wins the annual car sales for the first time in Thailand.(For the same segment).
i bought the 2002 corolla for my mom over 5yrs ago and not one problem with it, good car for her. It doesn't have the power, torque (pep) that I need or I'm use to with my B20Vtec but it's perfect for my Mom
What's really interesting is, one can not buy a more reliable or better built car for any amount of money than a Toyota Corolla. There are some cars that are faster, some that handle better, but none built with such high quality as Toyota, (except Lexus, another Toyota product).

Well the previous generation didnt necassarily get better gas mileage in 2008 they changed the conditions in which they tested MPG such as with more passengers and with air condiotioning fully on.
most toyotas, are very horrible drivers cars. But once you get to there sportier car section, like the IS300 or the XRS corolla, toyota can sure make some smooth handling and smooth v6 cars. I wish they would do more. But looks like they are going that way now, finally.
Why does everyone care how fast the car can reach 0-60 in? Don't most people that live in cities buy cars just to get around, it's not like your going to race with it. When I buy a car, I'm going to buy a car thats safe, reliable, and fuel efficent. The 2009 corolla looks quite cool, but its ok. I have 700 miles on my new 2008 XLE Corolla with moon roof. This is the best Corolla yet. Nice all around roadability and the best gas mileage around. The XM radio and Bluetooth are really well integrated into the panel and steering wheel. We have owned Volvos, Fords, VWs, Infinity and Studebaker.

Just buy a Suzuki SX4 Sport and don't buy Toyota or Honda. You don't have to buy from the top auto makers. Help the small ones out. Also with a Suzuki you can get automatic climate controls on A car that doesn't cost more than around $17,500. The Closest car that offers that feature is either a Ford Fusion or Honda Civic Hybrid and they both cost around $22,000.
I'll have to agree with on that, although I've never drove a honda civic. I only liked the gas efficiency of honda civic, but it rides rough for the passengers. The 09 corolla is fun to drive and very comfortable for passengers too

i bought the 2002 corolla for my mom over 5yrs ago and not one problem with it, good car for her. It doesn't have the power, torque (pep) that I need or I'm use to with my B20Vtec but it's perfect for my Mom

What's really interesting is, one can not buy a more reliable or better built car for any amount of money than a Toyota Corolla. There are some cars that are faster, some that handle better, but none built with such high quality as Toyota, (except Lexus, another Toyota product).

it last for a long time but corolla sound system is just a normal stock deck . i recommend just getting one 12' sub and 6x9 in the fronts and back.

Well the previous generation didnt necassarily get better gas mileage in 2008 they changed the conditions in which they tested MPG such as with more passengers and with air condiotioning fully on.

most toyotas, are very horrible drivers cars. But once you get to there sportier car section, like the IS300 or the XRS corolla, toyota can sure make some smooth handling and smooth v6 cars. I wish they would do more. But looks like they are going that way now, finally.

Why does everyone care how fast the car can reach 0-60 in? Don't most people that live in cities buy cars just to get around, it's not like your going to race with it. When I buy a car, I'm going to buy a car thats safe, reliable, and fuel efficent. The 2009 corolla looks quite cool, but its ok. I'd rather buy a car like corolla rather than a heavy, gas suckling, car that has many problems, and has lots of horsepower. As I said, it's not like you're going to race other cars in the streets.

I have 700 miles on my new 2008 XLE Corolla with moon roof. This is the best Corolla yet. Nice all around roadability and the best gas mileage around. The XM radio and Bluetooth are really well integrated into the panel and steering wheel. We have owned Volvos, Fords, VWs, Infinity and Studebaker.

Just buy a Suzuki SX4 Sport and don't buy Toyota or Honda. You don't have to buy from the top auto makers. Help the small ones out. Also with a Suzuki you can get automatic climate controls on A car that doesn't cost more than around $17,500. The Closest car that offers that feature is either a Ford Fusion or Honda Civic Hybrid and they both cost around $22,000.

I'll have to agree with on that, although I've never drove a honda civic. I only liked the gas efficiency of honda civic, but it rides rough for the passengers. The 09 corolla is fun to drive and very comfortable for passengers too
