  • i just got this board last month with an FX8120 cpu, the problem was the board wont post thats because the board was not updated to the latest bios which supports 8 core cpus of AMD, the problem was solved when i bought an old phenom which the board supports... asus should not wrote something on the box which is not true :(( now im out of budget because of the hassles :(( thumbs up so that asus could see this!!!

  • @jhonex0814 Update ur bios

  • @TruthUnbelievable i already did bro all is fine now :)

  • I am still waiting for my Rampage Extreme RMA, Great products horrible customer service

  • I for one like the color scheme on my new sabertooth 990fx

  • Very Smart mobo! I purchased this for my build, and I am very happy!

  • Apparently A BIOS Upgrade is needed to use bulldozer with amd3+ do you know anything about this and how I would go about doing this? THANKS IN ADVANCE AS ITS REALLY IMPORTANT :D @asusrog

  • jizzable, i want it NOW

  • this guy certainly knows his shizzle, ASUS give him a raise lol he's a legend

  • is this a full size ATX board?

  • Now we are waiting for new bios that supports the new AMD bulldozer. I bought SABERTOOTH 990FX and FX-8150 that do not work together.

  • @nowy80 you obviously did not do you're research. You need a AM3 CPU in the MoBo too update the bios of the MoBo before you install the FX Series.

  • @absoluteblkade3 will this bios issue ever be resolved so you can just buy an FX series with this mobo? I'm making a new build soon with 990FX and FX6100 but i don't want to shell out for an AM3 processor just to upgrade the BIOS! :S

  • @sjkreid3D for the current motherboards im afraid that's impossible. The only way that would happen is if they shipped the motherboards with updated bios already installed. Even then there's no way too tell before hand if you're getting an updated one or not. Just get a really cheap AM3 processor or In my opinion the current Phenom ll x6 1100T is the best way too go instead of getting an AM3+ CPU. Especially if you're gaming.

  • @absoluteblkade3 thanks for quick reply! Yea I might go for a Phenom II x6 instead. Here you see to know your stuff, would an AM2 scythe katana 2 fit an AM3+ socket?

  • @sjkreid3D no it would not. Only an AM3 and an AM3+ cpu will fit in the AM3+ Socket.

  • thanks

  • i cant decide on this or GIGABYTE GA-990FXA-UD5, i love my Gigabyte, but iv used ASUS in the past and they were good too, and i want all the new ASUS goodies lol

  • does it run 3way crossfire?

  • @Ardonn yes

  • He needs a bigger shirt!

  • i cant get the AISuite_II_SBT990FX_V10130_XpVistaWin7 to install any help

  • who is the idiot behind the color scheme to the sabertooth, like wtf im trying to make everything color cordinated and then i look at the one mobo i want and its shit green, shit tan, shit brown, and shit grey, who has a components with any of those colors. and even if they did where would u find lighting to match those colors. i mean jsut look at the mobo and think about how it would look if u actually got it to match all yur stuff. it would look like a giant shit. anyways this is the best mobo

  • @navyteccs Its looks great with military themed gaming PCs. I personally think it looks GREAT with the Cooler Master HAF X case. But that is just my honest opinion. Also if you pair it up with the G.Skill Sniper 1866 MHz DDR3 RAM it looks GREAT.

  • @navyteccs LMFAO. when i saw this i seriously died laughing.

  • @navyteccs that's the reason I bought this motherboard, first because its a great motherboard and then second...the military shit green looks great!! this would fit in great with any green led light or fans. fits well with green or yellow components, or you can just get your components in black.

  • @navyteccs Amber Lighting would be very good

  • 1 uses sweex

  • 1 is gay :)

  • i can put this motherboard on my tower(pc)

    height:37cm

    width:38cm

    my old motherboard

    height:22cm

    wigth:22cm

sorry this is a fucking stupid question but wanted to know :P

  • @KSDG84 yes.

  • but the software pack that comes with these boards is phenominal ... the thermal armour suite is just exceptional .... and 5 year warranty .... I really would rate this over the rampage editions ...

  • after using the P67 sabertooth in a build ... the problem I found was the shitty marvel sata 6gbs controller ... and the efi bios was flakey at times ... not booting a 2500k at 4ghz but booting at 4.2ghz ... its a great board though .... but I do understand why gigabyte are releasing efi hybrid bios's .. they say efi is not quite ready ... and i'm inclined to believe it ...

  • Expect to see the Bulldozer released this week or next ;)!

  • as much as I like Gigabyte boards, having such controll over your system and being able to fiddle arround with the fan's RPM's is great, buy dont think of it, if you are an AMD fan and are looking forward to the new Bulldozers well look no further.

  • that's nice, now where can I find the owner's manual?

  • Hello whats the difference between the Sabertooth and Formula 5 ( both 990FX ) , because im thinking to buy one of those but i dont know wich one is better overall.

  • @3dkiller since you don't know which one i better and probably don't know how to overclock, buy the cheaper one

  • @points2shopPROOF i know how to overclock i overclock since 1998,. i just want to know the difference between these 2 boards.

  • Same question as "TheOnlyDust" :)

  • Love how I can adjust the fans inside the OS (ive been looking for such an option) will these same adjustments be avaliable on the 990FX Crosshair V Formula?

  • JJ, any word on the release date for the Asus VG278H monitor?

  • Hello Sir, I just want to ask if this motherboard supports Intel's XMP on DDR3 Memories?

  • will a current AM3 processor fit in 990fx/AM3+ Board

  • @xPhoBiA1

    Yes it can.

they are selling the motherboards now, but there are no bulldozer cpu's so they are been tested with am3 cpu's

  • @xPhoBiA1 Yes it does, and its made to fit the new Bulldozer/Zambezi processors that come out later this year as well.

  • @Collecian Bulldozer? still hasn't came out lol i heard of Bulldozer in 2010 xD

  • is overclocking good on this board?

  • @hardcoreteunes

Yes the UEFI and VRM are definitely tuned for very strong OC performance. The CPU and cooling are going to be your main limiting factors. Assuming you have a solid CPU and solid cooler i would expect 3.8GHz+ OC level with a Thuban ( 6 core ) if you have a nice CPU expect 4.0GHz anything more than can be a little difficult on AMD but is possible on our board.

  • JJ knows his computer tech!!! Awesome mobo!

  • Awesome board!

  • lga 2011

  • @3clayman

no this is AM3+, LGA 2011 will be late this year

  • @Zraupp10 Can you put am3 in this?

  • @iBobDaBuildah

you can put a AM3 cpu in a AM3+ board NOT the other way around,

  • @Zraupp10

Wrong dude... The physical specification is the same. Same with pin out and such. The only difference between AM3 and am3+ is the voltage specification. The AM3+ socket requires much cleaner voltage for DRAM and NB.

  • @Overshocked

wrong? wrong? it was on AMD site! AM3 cpu can go into AM3+ Board NOT the other way around, they said they wanted to do let you put a AM3+ in a AM3 board but you will lose the fetchers of AM3+.

AMD there not the same AM3+ has ONE more pin then AM3 !!!!!

  • @Overshocked

This is actually incorrect there are other differences but due to NDA we can not fully disclose all specifics regarding the upcoming CPU. There is a physical difference to the socket. One key way to note the difference AM3 is white socket and AM3+ is black socket.

Overall TDP is same ( 95w or 125w ) this is one of the key items that allows for compatibility.

  • @Zraupp10

Actually you can put an AM3+ CPU on a 800 series motherboard. There may be potential compatibility issues for later releases but we expect full compatibility for initial launch CPUs.

Below is the link for boards that will have a bios update to enable support. Keep in mind though overall overclocking performance will be superior on 900 series boards.

  • @ASUSIlluminati

AM3+ has one more pin then AM3, there is no way you can put a AM3+ in a Am3 socket,

  • Respond to this video...

    event.asus.com/2011/mb/AM3_PLUS_Ready/

  • @iBobDaBuildah

It is fully compatible with AM3 based CPUs. The CPU used in testing was actually a AM3 CPU... AMD Phenom II X6 1055T Thuban 2.8GHz 6 x 512KB L2 Cache 6MB L3 Cache Socket AM3 125W Six-Core Desktop Processor

  • @3clayman LGA 2011, It's intel, not AMD, this video is about Sabertooth 990FX AMD!

  • Really enjoyed the video, the presentation was well done, really enjoyed it, hopping the Sandy Bridge E rampage IV comes with at least the same functionality

  • Well this good! I love the new bios, it looks like a second OS the way it operates with its color and GUI.
