12 people died. 2 reuters journalist COUSE THE FUCKING SOLDIER CAN'T MATCH THE DIFERENCE BETWEEN AN RPG AND A VIDEO CAMERA. & A CELL PHONE AND A AK-47... AND THIS IS THE "AMERICAN HERO"
@orlandothx Mostly because they were 10,000 feet up in the air on an AC-130, relying on thermal cameras to pick out civilians from infidels. But yes, it doesn't make sense killing innocent civilians, and that judgement error cost some of the people involved their jobs and lives.
In many countries (Venezuela, the Middle East) politicians say that video games and some films are DIRECTLY designed by US government officials with an explicit agenda. We say that this is a baseless criticism, but after seeing the wikileaked Collateral Murder video, I can see why they'd think the burden of proof is on us.
In truth, the situation is much more complex and deep than Chavez would like it to be.
Hey SIRTONY tell that to the enemy..so what if they laugh and put a bullet in your chest? I think they is no way out.. war is war ..I dont need to be on a war to understand a nature of life..but that the way it is..peace
I'm a bit underwhelmed by this montage. By no mean I want to diminish your achievement for appearing on YouTube Play. I just feel you're assuming that since we witness war from afar and do not react to it, we are desensitized to it. Playing Call of Duty is barely different from playing Cops and Robber as kids. I have met my share of soldiers (some even gamers) that have returned from Afghanistan with PTSD. Nothing can desensitize you to the real thing.
@BlinkingBulbStudios I think his point is that we, people whose only knowledge of war is what we see in these grainy infrared cameras and in Call of Duty are becoming desensitized to the horror that war is.
I can't say I agree entirely, though... with all of the real footage, I flinched whenever I heard a gunshot. And those 40 seconds with the guy crawling around...
@TiberiusCelsus1 I guess it depends on your education. It's probable that kids that aren't aware of what's going on in Iraq and Afghanistan and who's only knowledge of war is through video games might be somewhat desensitized, but I don't think that situation can last very long. Eventually, they've got to learn about it.
@BlinkingBulbStudios I'm not sure. A lot of my friends are really getting a video game mentality to war, even the ones who know people over there. One of my friends cheered during the sniper scene in Hurt Locker (and any news story involving a sniper shooting). Another talks about how wonderful it must be to get /paid/ to kill "Muslim terrorist sons of bitches".
I hope this changes soon. There's something disturbing about the thought of future leaders and servicemen enjoying war too much.
@TiberiusCelsus1 Then it might be that I'm giving too much credit to the American educational system. I could also be the fact that living in Québec, we simply have a different mentality about war. See, as a nation that was conquered and colonized by the English, for every war England was involved in, we had to fight for them, whether we wanted or not. So, we're kind of more aware of the horrors of war because we're more inclined to be weary when our country goes to war.
@rebelliouspixels You can somewhat easily distinguish between the audio from the real footage and the audio from the game. The former has relatively a bit of static, and the quality of the audio is bad, and the latter is of much higher quality, and has a simple "over-the-radio" filter to mimic static you would normally hear. To answer your question, though, the audio from the game didn't record gamers playing it, it's just voice actors playing the role of the gunner.
There are a lot of comments on here on the denial that video games incite violence. I actually think that it might be the other way around - the way we glorify and dehumanize war may perhaps make people more likely to play out violence in their recreational time. Whether or not this affects an individual and our society as a whole is not for me to say.

dude, all the answers you seek are there if you read my statement. if you want to know more than what I wrote about I will gladly respond as best i can
It's funny because Call of Duty 4 seems to take an anti-war approach in it's campaign
because you know, everyone pretty much dies on your side too and in the campaign, the US involvement in the middle east pretty much causes a nuke to go off and the death of 30,000 people
...the number one accomplishment in numbers for humanity is Killing each other ...WAR civil unrest...and man made deseases in the FAST food desruction of world health...and the numbing of the mind that Violent Video games do NOTHING...This film proves in the tone of the voices...this is no big deal killing each other in the name of ANYTHING that makes you believe they MUST DIE...Planet EARTH is a Quarentined planet...in the Galaxy ...Untill we stop killing eachother.
@SIRTONY "this is no big deal killing each other in the name of ANYTHING that makes you believe they MUST DIE" --- People think that it's easy to kill another human being. It's not. It's never easy. The only way to be able to do it is detach yourself from the situation. Those gunners aren't killing human beings, they're killing "targets", otherwise they would never be able to cope with it. Only some mentally unstable soldiers actually "enjoy" killing.
Desensitised to violence from a video game is bollocks! I play modern warfare, I shoot computer generated people and I think "yeah that head shot looked awesome" I don't like shooting people in the head in real life and do not find mindless violence funny. The soldiers in the Wikileaks video are not proof of video games being bad for anyone, or desensitising people they are proof that the Army's Legal System doesn't work, that's all. Video games are just games, stop blaming them for stupid shit.
@therealjamesgardner I don't think violent games turn people into insane murderers.
But the problem is that insane murderers like to play violent games. So the connection between violence and gaming is there, people just interpret it incorrectly.
The part from 1:50 is totally scary. Seeing those men walking, how the crosshair is focussing on them and then the explosion that kills them within a second is just too much. Imagine you would be one of them... That is so unhuman.
@FabulousMrWeed actually pushing a button and incineratering everything that is miles away from you is actually very human. the ´barbaric´ or bestial way would be tearing their throats out with your teeth
It's strange how killing humans can be done with such little regard to their humanity. I guess we all deal with death differently. I both respect and pity our armed forces and other countries armed forces as well for what they see and hear on the battlefield.

Is that mixed with in-game audio or recordings of the gamers as they play the game? Sounds like some gamers play audio in there too...
