Part II: As a female, I think there needs to be far more women in EVERY PART of metal/gothic music! Not just more lead singers (although I want more of those, in BOTH the "operatic" and "thrash/growling" varieties!), but also more women who play base/lead guitars, are drummers or sythethizer keyboardists, BACKUP singers, etc! Women in metal are great, in any kind of metal, but there are some girls who really suck.

Some girls with guttural voice are fantastic like Arch Enemy or Kittie.
Many people likes these women, not because they are hot, just because they sound really good and they gave metal something different.

Now Walls of jericho, Bloodline caligraphy, Arch enemy, light this city etc. THATS METAL!!! Female bands are just like guy bands, some are good, some suck. I think it all depends on how their voices sound agiasnt the music being played.
Some women sound good wih the growling n shit. Some don't.
However, I find girls singing agianst metal background sounds beautiful like Echoes of Eternity and Within Temptation

Dude I'll give you credit on the bands you posted, right on! And I believe that chicks in a metal/goth band add an element that can only bring greatness to any group! And for your part 2 follow up you gotta put this new group outta Europe called "UnSun"...check them out and you have to add "Lacuna Coil"....dig it!!

Since most of womens voices AND their bands sound so awfully same and generic and boring, I fail to see the awesomeness of women in metal and go listen to some female soft jazz or blues instead. Fits much better, fishnets and corsets and jet black hair were never beautiful anyway.

I think women are fine as vocallists in core shit because the guys look like/sound like bitches anyways, so it doesn't matter. Keep them away from my black metal and I'm happy.

These were all great bands you mentioned, but the first metal band with woman leading it that I was introduced to was Otep. They're sick as hell. And speaking from someone in a alt/metal band with a woman vocalist, I would have to say that women definitely belong in metal.

Women in metal are great, in any kind of metal, but there are some girls who really suck.
I like bands like Draconian, Tristania, Estatic fear, Epica, Penumbra,old theatre of tragedy, the sins of thy beloved, Galadriel, etc..., who combine guttural growls voice with a female vocalist.
Some girls with guttural voice are fantastic like Arch Enemy or Kittie.
Many people likes these women, not because they are hot, just because they sound really good and they gave metal something different.

Its sad cause I dont consider half those bands metal(nightwish,angtoria, lacuna coil etc.). They are decent bands but not metal. Now Walls of jericho, Bloodline caligraphy, Arch enemy, light this city etc. THATS METAL!!! Female bands are just like guy bands, some are good, some suck. Its stupid to say, "yeah that bands great cause shes hot!" Wich is probably why bands like aforementioned lacuna coil etc. are so popular in the metal scene. Not cause they are good, just cause they are hot.
