  • Are you people idiots? Horses always stand as a prey animal it is a precaution, so immediately after waking after surgery they hop up, if youve ever had surgery you know, your quite dizzy and numb after, so they put them in a small padded area for them to recover in, once he can stand theyll take him back to a stall were the vet can monitor him

  • That poor horse.. I understand that the horse is in therapy but wont a stall work? o_O

  • This is a stall, it's a padded stall so if the horse is injured or just getting up from surgery they won't hid hard wooden walls or rails and hurt themselves. It's not a long-term thing, just like human recovery rooms after surgery, everything to keep us from ripping out our stitches until we're sane again!

  • I'm sorry but he looked drunk the way he was swaying! Lol he's like wtf?!

  • @PasoFinoLover21 Its cause he is waking up from sleepy drugs. The pads help them not injure themselves worse.

  • @CowgirlGoneJumper oooh...haha i still think he looked drunk. lol but thanks for tthe explenation :) (i dont think hes drunk, he just looks like it)

  • The horse just looks Around like WHERE IS MY BOOZE hahah

  • what is a knock down box?

  • @classicbreyerhorses it's for when horses are sedated. the whole area is padded so they don't hurt themselves while waking up. If the walls weren't solid, the chaos of the outside world can be overwhelming and can put them in a panic, especially for a prey animal like a horse.

  • @LitleDusk oh

  • what is a knock down box?

  • Not putting a horse in special care after being sedated would be cruel...this is for the horses own safety, some of them get pretty stumbley and thrash around a lot when they come to.

  • @BlackValleyRequiem Yeah. like Ruffian did. Why didn't they do that for her? (Just curious, not hating or anything.)

  • @NicoleAndBandit

they couldnt prevent ruffian from doing what she did, when she woke up she thought she was still running the race and started galloping while laying down, then she re injured her leg

  • @wildfire0858 Actually they could have - they often wake horses with broken legs up suspended in pools now so that if they thrash the risk of re-injury is much less.

  • @AkimaDoll 0.o that cool i did not know that, well in ruffians case, im sure they did not have that ability back then

  • People this isn't cruel, if you want to see ad comment on cruel go to "what happens when you don't put a drugged horse in a knock down box" it's called a knock down box because when a horse falls hence the "knock down" part because of it's wobbly legs. I have been riding horses for 14 1/2 years I would know what the hell was cruel to a horse or not...jeez start reading books people.

  • @sagemakayla Look, it's no different than when a human comes out anesthesia; I was put under general once and upon coming out of it I was thrashing around and I'm a fairly large man; imagine a HORSE being like that!

Once I became cognizant of what I was doing, I stopped but I could have easily injured some of the medical personnel along with myself; that's why they do this with horses; they don't leave them in there indefinitely.

    I can't get over all the incredible dumb-asses out there . . .

  • as a vet tech student the padded recovery boxes are very important to horses coming out of anesthesia (i would have liked it more if he had the padded helmet on but w/e) they wake up very violently as a natural instinct of fight or flight .. if he was in a normal stall the injuries he could have caused himself would have been catastrophic

  • I thought they used recovery pools now???

  • ... some people don't get this is the way horses recover. in a padded box so the horse don't injure themselves more!

  • was ist denn das für ein scheiss

  • @endorandme

Also, denke vorher wenigstens ZWEIMAL darüber nach bevor du etwas beschimpst!!!

  • It's truely amazing how many idiots out there never read titles/descriptions or just dont care enough to see reasoning behind what is being done and think they are the expert on whatever they are watching. If people would take five extra seconds to actually stop and try to understand something maybe there would be less hate...

  • Bless :') I love how confused he looks! He's like "Woah.. Woah... WOAH." :') Haha :)

  • AS THE TAKER OF THIS VIDEO CAN I PLEASE CLEAR SOMETHING UP.

THIS HORSE HAD JUST HAD A KISSING SPINE OPERATION AS WAS RECOVERING FROM A GENERAL ANAESTHETIA IN A PADDED BOX AS WHEN HORSES WAKE UP FROM BEING PUT OUT THEY THRASH AROUND AND CAN INJURE THEMSELVES. AS SOON AS THE HORSE WAS AWAKE HE WAS MOVED TO A NORMAL STABLE BUT THIS STALL WAS FOR HIS SAFETY! IDIOTS!

  • Wow, really, doesn't people read the title??

Its VERY clearly explain that its an padded recovery stall that the horse is in because it has been sedated so it will not hurt itself when waking up!

As soon its awake it will be put in a normal stall...

Seriously people read the information before going all bitchy about a video on youtube!!

  • why must the horse in there because what it has is the normal need not water as pure and where is the door please reply your sarah snow

  • @sarah86327

    1) That didn't make a word of sense.

    2) It's been put in there to keep it safe. If a hospital let you get up and run around and whack into hard things when you woke up from anesthetics, you would probably end up breaking your leg. Just like this horse.

  • @sarah86327 the door is probably off screen=] this horse is okay and it's not in water

  • i can't tell from the video, is the box padded?

  • @RachaelDavis11 You do realize it just woke up from anesthesia right? Are you suggesting that they drag the horse out into a field to recover where it could hurt itself?

  • @RachaelDavis11 if the horse doesnt go in there it could break its bones and have to be put to sleep. it just woke up from anesthesia. it will come out of there soon, dont worry. it keeps the horse healthy, and happy! :D

  • Aww he's cute he's like AWWW everthing is blue, woahhhh

I hope he get's better. what was he in for? Cute horsey.

  • I don't know what it is but I don't think it's animalcruelty.

Most stables are smaller, and I think these walls are made of something soft.

But what is wrong with the horse?

  • @Ipodmoeilijk Probably just went through surgery or something that required anesthesia. Much safer than a stall for waking up from it.

  • @Ipodmoeilijk its just recovering form sergery or somthing. not a huge deal.hes just in the box while he is wakeing up. incase he gets scared and feraks he is less likely to furt him self. :)

  • Lol I need one of these for myself when I wake up in the morning! Haha

  • hä was bring das das das da so drin steht?!

  • It'd be so weird so wake up surounded by light blue squishy walls >.< but i understand :)

  • i wish i could be put in a room like that so i can go crazy

  • omg shut up! @kielow1313 didnt know! lay of! u cant just explain nicely with out saying something harsh!?! how do think he/she feels now?! he/she was basicaly saying that they dont like mean things being done 2 animals! gosh! and 1 person already explained what it was so shut up!

  • how do they put them down in the hole thing

  • if you know what happened to ruffian you'd know that this is a good idea(as well as the swimming pools)

  • It's for the horse's safety. Sometimes as the horse is coming into consciousness after surgery, they can kick or lash out as they're trying to get up and could hurt themselves hitting a hard wall or floor. Horses are very strong and heavy and stumbling and falling back down could result in... well, more surgery.

  • There are more dislike because there are some amount of stupid people that havent got a clue about horses and just wanna stir shit up!!

the best way is to leave him on a hard surface< wake up ye clowns this here is the safest way!! thats why people spend money on thses things!!

  • @kielow1313 It's called a knockdown/recovery room. The confined space and padded infrastructure help to prevent the horse from injuring itself whilst under and recovering from the effects of a general anaesthetic.

  • @kaeso100 ohhhh i thought they were bein mental retards

  • @kielow1313 you ovbiously don't know what your talking about. first its not a corral, its a padded stall that the horses are put in after coming out of surgery. second, its not dangerous its safe for the horse so he doesn't injure himself while waking up.

    Get your facts straight.

  • @crazywatergirl923 well maybe you should.anywayz sorry maybe its not a corral but as far as im concerned you dont know anything about horses

  • @kielow1313 and how would you know that? why else would I be watching video's with horses in them if I don't know anything about them. that makes sense

  • @kielow1313 lol she obviously knows more than you!

  • @kielow1313 omg just shut your face you dont know anything about horses. you just a stupid wanna be horse freak but all you are is a freak! your dumb dont leave comments when you dont know shiz about the horses

  • @horsedream12

Hahaha wow... You don't know anything about horses and my names Horsedream so I know!!

  • @grands1am ok what ever i know more than you

  • @horsedream12

    But only about horses. :)

  • @kielow1313 you havent a clue have you!! would you rather he get up on concrete!!!

  • @kielow1313 how is this cruel??

coming round in a small stable were it could injure itself would be cruel,

in a padded recovery stall the horse can come round in a safe enviroment in peace and quiet

and b4 u give me that shit that i dont know wat im talking about i worked in an equine vets so i think i kno wat im talking about

  • @equestrianchick92: I agree! My friends horse had to be put in one after her ingury

  • why are there more dislikes on here? oh I know why, it's because people that do not know a thing about horses think this is cruel. they are in there to recover from the anesthetic, putting them into a regular stall is crueler because they can just re-injure themselves

  • u are crazy people!!!

  • To the idiots, Imagine, you just came from surgery and the anesthetic hasn't completely worn off yet. Obviously, you'd want to lie down on a soft comfy bed. Sadly human and horse anatomy are different hence the comfy box.

PS: I don't like the color though...of the box not the horse.

  • why are there 300K+ views on this video???

  • i hate puttign horses in these they lok so confuised but i know its beter for them and they cant hurt them selves.

but yet again im a sucker when it comes to horses

  • poor horse :/ how could you ? ;o

  • @emmyjossy they did it so it wouldnt kill its self ?? when they wake up they can fall and if they fall they can hurt themselves.. and if u knew anything about horses u would understand that that that place is the safest till its fully awake

  • @emmyjossy ... did you even read the other comments? Think before you speak

  • @emmyjossy Know the facts first. :-)

  • @emmyjossy dude, how could you? If the horse woke up in a regular stall they could hurt themselves.... really look stuff up before commenting.

  • whats a knock down box ? like what is it used for.

  • @jessica13100 A knock down box is used o that a horse can wake up sefely from the anethestesia. Like if a horse was put in a stall then it could get bedding in the wound or the horse could hit its head and have internal bleeding.

  • I've seen several horses come up from anesthesia, and it is not really a calm nor a coordinated situation. They are quite wobbly and disoriented, a well-padded, dimly lit room is much easier for them to deal with.

  • How is this Torture?

  • @MissPreshpony How is this torture? When the horse is waken from anesthesia they are very wobbly and disoriented like said before. In a regular stall they might get injured because of the hard sides and floor. This room is made special so that the horses do not become injured. This is better for the horse so this is not torture.

  • @MissPreshpony It's just a box that prevents injury while they are waking up from surgery, honey. She'll be taken out in several minutes

  • @MissPreshpony

This horse was in here after surgery. it is incase it falls it will have a soft landing. dont comment if you dont know

  • @HorsecrazyMare People comment that dont know so they can find out...duh :)

  • Thanx for sharing I've never heard of a knock down box b4

  • It's like being in a room full of pillows, but if they put the horse in a reguler stall, its like putting them in a stall surrounded by cement

  • Even in a padded room horses will find a way to get themselves hurt

  • @LudwigAshley At least it's safer than a hard, wooden stall.

  • wie kommt das pferd dort wieder raus?! oO

  • I do admit it is small but i know its for therapy and te proffesional horse therapist know better than ANY of us

  • I'd go INSANE if they locked me up like that! I'd run and run and run around that thing, kicking, striking, anything!! (no i probably wouldn't be the best horse, then again, its hard to come by a horse who every one agrees is the best in ther herd.) But yes, I'd be raising hell in that box!

  • i dont know if this is the same box i know about. but it looked like he was staggering a little. most of the time they use these boxes for horses that are coming out of anesthesia. they use these boxes in case he falls down, or hits a wall. it is padded so he wont hurt himself. they make the walls so high so it blocks out most sound, and so he wont get spooked at anything. they dont leave them in here all day, most of the time, they only leave them in there for an hour.

  • the horse was drugged. They do this so they dont hurt themselves when they stand up. its no where in his head to run and buck

  • @breyerbabe99 if you were in that box its becuase you would be able to stand right away from the drugs. So if you were kickin gyou would be on the ground thrashing trying to get up

  • @breyerbabe99 I highly doubt you would if you're recovering from a strong sleep drug.

  • @Kralisticat4 i would after i recovered from it xD (please stop taking me so literally lol) (why so serious?)

  • @breyerbabe99 Haha I'm not serious trust me, I don't even remember watching this!

  • @breyerbabe99 you apparentyl no nothing about horses

  • @breyerbabe99 No you obviously know nothing about horses. If you were put in this box it was because you were put on a sleep drug. And you obviously are a person that likes to brag about what she knows. And there are people that know alot more about horses then you and there called trainers or large animal vetrinarians. :)

  • that knock down box is all padded and safe they wouldnt of put it in there if it wasnt safe. i no that therpy n it very good all top racehorses go there

  • @RIOTEMOATW If you dad must also shoe horses, he must not be a very good vet ;)

  • @playinginamist lol! He'd rather do all things poorly than one thing well.

  • @RIOTEMOATW a stall is a box...and can't you tell that it's HUGE?

  • Very good! :-)

But too much people, they no have any idea!

  • you guys that horse it in there to protect its self from harm while its healing.

  • Its there for therapy its one hundred percent uncruel so no need to worry his fine

  • @GingerHottie123 Cruel would be putting it in a regular stall, where it could fall and seriously get hurt. The stall is for horses that have been drugged for medical reasons. When they wake, they are groggy and can't stand well. There is a high risk for them falling. This stall is padded, so if it does fall, the horse won't get hurt. Its for safety.

  • Not Cruel At All

  • This is not cruel, have someone seen the movie "The horse whisperer"? The horse in that movie are in a box like that, but not in a same type of model.

  • get a life

  • Comment removed

  • @DaU9

    retard

  • Do you even know what's going on here? That's a padded box where horses recover from anesthesia hense it's so so groggy.

  • @DaU9 How exactly is it "cruel"?

Would you prefer that the horse was left loose in a stable to recover from its OP and possibly risk breaking its neck or legs while waking up? Or would you prefer the horse to not have an OP at all and probably suffer?

  • que hacen mirando ahi ?vallan a ayudar

  • No entiendes el ingles? Es un box para despertar despues de una operacion, no se puede pegar en ningun sitio, es todo de goma. :-)

  • @drevista To show you what a horse recovering from anesthesia looks like when they are put in a recover box :)

  • if it wasnt for these special room a lont more horse would brake the legs or worst there necks when there come round from some times life saving ops the ppl who are slating it clearly have nothing to do with horse or should clerely be aloud any where near them!!!!! to all those ppl who understand how imprtant it is for a safe place for the horse to recover in nice to meet you!! all those jerks who dont can get lost!! any ways the horse is put back into a nice normal stable once its back on feet

  • there made of rubber. I went to an equetirian hostpital myself. It was soooo cool!

  • The horse is still waking up after being put to sleep for surgery or some procedure. The pen the horse is in keeps it safe from harmimg it's self.

Educate yourselves before you start calling something cruel that you clearly know nothing about.

  • o my goodness. you people that sayin all the crap about this being cruel are being silly.. if your horse had an operation and the vet said put him in a big blue box because it will help him recover you are obviously going to do what the vet says... so get a life and stop your slabberin the person here was only following the vets instructions.. who was looking out for the welfare of the horse.. fair enough it may be boring for it but its not like its living there for weeks :)

  • god most of you people have no idea what you are talking about! my horse had to recover in one of those and SHE IS JUST FINE!!!!!

  • It can barely keep its feet under it because it has most recently been asleep on the operating table. This video shows a well put together induction and recovery area and a nice smooth recovery from GA.

  • @ArabianGirl23

Yes because a horse is healthy when it goes into a therapy center. Yes, because every horse that is put in that box is perfectly fine and is just there to chill and can obviously walk. Your ignorance is shameful. Really.

A horse who is in a therapy center and is in one of those boxes is usually recovering from anesthesia. When a horse wakes up from anesthesia they usually thrash about and are put in these boxes so they don't hurt themselves. It's not a bunch of bullshit.

  • that horse is recovering from a general anesthesia. the box prevents the horse from injuring itself. the only shameful thing here is your ignorance.

  • @ArabianGirl23 Wow. Learn bout horses, before u comment bull crap. IT'S FOR IT'S SAFTEY WHEN IT WAKES UP DUMBY! THEY PUT THE HORSE ASLEEP SO THEY CAN OPERATE.

  • @Maccaranahorse Actually she is kinda right a horse can be in the box and try to stand up then fall back down and land on its leg the wrong way. :)

  • HORSE ISN'T A TOY! PPL!

  • The horse is recovering from general anaesthesia moron.

  • To all the people who are OMZ THIS IZ SO EVIL! Shove it, you apparently have no idea what your talking about.

  • Is this recovering?

I think it make a horse in a bad mood

  • well no not really. if it didnt recover in a padded room it could break its legs or other bones and then it would probs need to be put to sleep so yeah...

  • kool...

  • they ovbiously no what their doing! and no when we get surgery were stuck in a bed for weeks!!

  • i was only in the hospital for one night and i had a operation

  • its pretty much the same after we have surgery, we're confined to a freakin bed.. we feel the same way they feel about it probably, but its for the best

  • This room is made special for after a horse has surgery so they don't hurt themselves. It is all padded for their safety as horses fight the drugs when they come out of them and can hurt themselves.

  • @Number2Plus12 Idiot.

  • Its for their safety... if they left the horse in a regular stall they could get shaving or dust in their incision... and when they wake up they are very wobbly and it would be unsafe to be in a hard wooden stall...

  • Dude...its a room thats specially made with padding all over it. They put horses in it to allow them to wake up from and anthestesia (i know i spelled that wrong lol). If they were put into a regular stall, they might fall and injure themselves. After they are all waken up again they are taken out.

  • @broodmare25 ur right, i remember barbaro was put into a pool after his sugery

  • they need to let the horse wake up in an enclosed, padded area so that if the freak out, they're less likely to hurt themselves or someone else.

  • think about being drunk so drunk you cant function now imagine if you will weighting the same as a horse you stumbling to the toilet could bumping in to something maby break a lamp a horse breaks buildings and the like i had a azteca/spanish norman x warlander/fox trotter gelding that was around 1654 lbs that we had to box the secound time cus he hurt him self standing up after being knocked out for vet work

  • Yeah, it looked really terrified... (sarcasm)

  • They put horses in a "pool" thing so they can recover from a surgery or something.

  • I'm sure that the trained vetrinarians at therapy center are capable of doing their jobs.

  • a knock down box is where the horses go to wake up out of surgury or wht ever they have been knocked out for. it is padded and secure so they dont hurt themselves when they wake up, as they are very stressed.

  • very smart

  • they also get the injuction that puts them to sleep just bfore the sergary. It is called a knok-down box as they just fall to the ground after the injection, a bit like they have just been knoked out with a brick.

  • Didn't know a shotgun to the head was something you could recover from.

Guess you learn something new everyday...

  • Excuse me?

  • was that horse in a pool??? wats a knock down box??? lol im confused

  • i love how ppl who know nothing about horses try to lecture everyone on here

  • Rescue horses in Nebraska (Buffalo County, USA) need donors / adopters / good homes ASAP (references required!). Please spread the word / contact me for more info, thanks!

  • poor thing, what happend to it?

  • lol, yeah bualistic. it drives me insane!

  • Hi guys. I took this video (this is my old account) so listen up, lol.

The horse was recovering from serious colic surgery. He is the knock down box to prevent him from injuring himself. They are placed in there still under anaesthetic and tend to thrash around when they come round - hence the padded walls. Several horses have been known to have a succesful operation and then break a leg when coming round!!

So no, this isn't cruel, it's for the horses own safety.

  • its not cruel howlidayuser. its to prevent the horse from injurying its self. they place horses in here after they have come round from anasthetic so that if they fall over it wont hurt them as its all padded out. after a while they are removed from here and placed in a box.

  • The idea does seem like it could be cruel. But the idea is that there is no bedding in this so that the dust andbits of it don't get into the incision. The bedding is replaced with cushions, so the horse doesn't hurt it's self when it's dizzy after having anesthetic.

  • If it recovers "comfortably" as you say it, horses kinda tend to thrash around when they wake up from their nap the anaesthesia. You'd have to be mentally ill to not know that horses freak out in enclosed spaces. Because everyone here knows it.
