i know that result too difficult for people who don't practice this art think that this is real boxing, but i practice shaolin kung fu since i was 13...now i'm 19, and i can surely tell u that is right to call it boxing; this is only a technique, similar to a dance o something else, but all of this "flowery moves" hide itself a powerful tecnique;but in the period when mao tse tung was in charge,it was forbidden to practice martial arts,so the monks tried to hide in this dances their tecniques.
you are relating it to what westerners refer to when they say boxing. Also not a dance, you are not seeing the application of the movements you are simply watching it as a whole.
I'm not relating it, that's why I say this has nothing to do with western boxing. The word Box describes the western discipline of two guys punching each other.
This video is neither restricted to punches, nor it involves two guys fighting. It's one man doing very beautiful moves alone, that's the most similar to a dance there is.
I don't say he can't beat the crap out of anyone with his ton bnei quan, probably he can, but what I say is THIS video doesn't show boxing, it shows a dance.
@petruza <-- probally a boxer with no knowledge of martial arts and or understanding of developing skill. Im sure the boxers are not cats or anything But WHY DO THEY MAKE SOUNDS With the MOUTH when they are punching its nothing more then them singing boxing Is nothing more then Singing...
Too flowery IMO. Shaolin style's specialty is in its weapons usage. It's physical combat forms are way too flowery. But then again, if a monk ever entered a ring he/she COULD prove me wrong. But it has yet to happen.
too flowery right try hurting there iron body and you won't be saying that

Respecttfully I think this shouldn't be called boxing. It's a beautiful dance, but nothing farther than boxing.

the word boxing has more meanings than what you think. and quan is often translated as boxing, it´s not a mistranslation.

In Cantonese, we call it "Kuen" aka "Fist" and can also be translated as "boxing".

its their vow that prevents them from entering a ring (togheter with the boudist beliefs ;-)
