This game feels epic in a way very few games have every managed to equal... You feel personally responsible for every single soul that you carry across the galaxy, protecting them, taking them back to their home... You spit with a genuine loathing at those who try to stop and murder you, feel a real desperation and concern. This is brilliance which is seldom seen. I don't know how to render it in any formula, but they got it right; we're all crying out for the story to continue.
yeah the hiigara kinda got what was coming with the vaygar.... they knew the threat was increasing but left their allies and the rest of the galaxy to fend for themselves..... I wonder what happened to the taiidani republic?
@kevinherbert Yeah it must be, i also thought of that the second time i played the game. So typical homeworld, very few words to desrcibe and sometimes no words at all just music and scenes to let yourself judge what might happen or have.
I like this plot more than Homeworld2 since you play as disposed refugees. In HW2 it comes out that you're murderous warmongers that got what they deserved...I lost sympathy during that game
Homeworld... I can't get this game out of my mind. This game is really legendary, and the story... the story man! EPIC! I get goosebumps everytime I play this game.
If you haven't tried it, you should. This game is really, really one of the best storyline-games ever. Atmospheric music and so on. I simply love this game.
This game should be remembered for ever. The producers are very bright and new just how grabbing this plot would be, I love it. Even though its old, I've never played HWII and I'm buying it today> So fyi, but on another note, this is one of the most moving scenes in the whole game, wonderful plot and I love the concept of salvage corvettes, wonderful! Love cpt Elson, too. Hey anyone who watches this video message me bout your favorite level and why, thanks.
mine is probably garden of kadesh cuz i can salvage a lot of swarmers and i like to salvage ships that u cant get in multi player just to make a collection
I could never salvage more than a handful of swarmers, since they were too fast and would outrun the salvage corvettes even when out of fuel. I did grab a few from the last mothership, those that were just sitting still. They weren't particularly useful, since they run out of fuel really fast, but i think i used them to finish Karos Graweyards mission pretty quickly.
I also grabbed an ungodly number of multibeam frigates from Kadesh, which made the rest of the game pretty easy :) Good times...
i managed to salvage about 13 of em and docked em in my mothership cuz they were rare and i like to capture ships u cant build and make a collection of em but not use em to fight i just eep em docked
yea, i like to do that as well :) tried to salvage every unique ship in the game, took me awhile to realize that Turanic raiders' carrier and strike craft aren't salvageable.
normally i wouldn't use the swarmers in combat, but nothing else could survive the trip to the relay and dock, so i sent a couple, otherwise i'd have to send the whole fleet.
i also like how they got black coloring on that mission for some reason :)
and multibeam frigates were just too good to not use in combat :p
@ertyqwer yeah i was surprised how easy it was to capture them! I was able to get...10? Idk but it was somewhere close to 10. Yeah those things are pretty close to pricless in the game.
theaznfish is right, the ancient Higarian empire werent such a nice group of people they burned and killed enitre populations and worlds. But Homeworld Lore states that it is unclear who started the war, as both sides were bribing the galactic council over a fued of territory, but i do believe Higarians took the first agressive initative.
The Hiigaran and Taiidan always had conflict, but when the Hiigarans discovered the second hyperspace core they were the first to attack as they built Sajuuk's Wriath, hyperspaced past all heavily fortified Taiidan borders and struck their homeworlds with overwhelming force.
Remember what the Bentusi said in Homeworld 2
"...the second core came to your ancestors. In their blindness, they became as the Vaygr are now and a great war consumed them also."
higarans in the past were bad-->exiled they forgot their past and found they had to discover their homeworld->in the way they got to know that they were exiled for a reason and by someone(taiidan)->they recovered the homeworld with the help of the galactic council(they hiperspace in the end sequence)->Vaygr strike hiigara in search for the cores->Hiigara dodges most attack fleet away from Hiigara by making them follow->Pride of hiigara recovers 3 cores and saves the planet with sajuuk
this is the entire homeworld saga (excluding cataclysm of course as it is an "expansion" and u get to play with the somtaaw) ~this is resumed therefore misses some important gaps, like the keepers....go adding!!!!
The hiigaran people had already been removed from their homeworld before they found the second core. As I understand it, the Hiigarans held a vast empire in the galactic core. Such a vast empire could only be taken down by another vast empire, which means it was either a territorial fued that had lasted for a long time, or the taiidan came out of nowhere and crushed the hiigaran.
They were exiled though for good reason. Their ancestors started a great war which in their defeat led them to exile. I feel so sad for the Bentusi though, they were the most prominent race in the game and in HWII they only had one ship left.
I was very moved by this cutscene. Can't help but feeling terrible for the Hiigarians. Being rushed into exile like that and losing all they had accomplished.
You see where the kadesh start from in this video. I would assume that the ships that split off from the main group are what become the kadesh. the kushan are what is left of that main fleet that lands on kharak.
The Kushan in this game turn out to be the Hiigarans (you can play as the Taiidanii, who have slightly different ships and designs, but the story is otherwise the same).
Homeworld 2 assumes that it was the Kushan who were the exiled, hence why it may seem confusing.
I would almost argue that when Captain Elson shows up in the final stage, that was the best (though not neccesariy a cutscene). The rush I still get from that particular scene in final battle is amazing. Its like arguing over which amazing point in an amazing game was best though. Everything just was amazing about this game.
yeah and i think there couldnt be any main characters except Karan sajet and emperor and Bentusi. others would be only some nameles pilots and captains who would die in combat most likely.
All my capital ships were around the Bentusi ship during this cutscene, and I kept worrying that it would smash half of them every time it moved. I hate it when that happens in HW. I've lost way too many destroyers to Taiiden carriers and Kadeshi motherships that way...

Considering the intro in Cataclysm, and the fall of the Emperor, i am pretty certain they have replaced the Imperials.

the taiidani has control of some space, and enough of a military to annoy the Hiigarans
thats why they jumped to help the Vaykr
