  • I also tried your flat dish method for sprouting. I got the same reults as you although one problem I found is the berries that are still in the water don't sprout as much as the ones that are sittng higher. It's like the berries need to be wet but not too wet in order to sprout better. I had to lift off only the ones that sprouted the most and left the under-sprouted ones to go for another day then put them in a different tray. Thanks!

  • @fetymann

use a paper towel and spay them twice a day. Do not soak them thought. If you think the paper towel gets too wheat well then, skip a spay.

Watch them. These berries have to have a drain system, just as they naturally get from the ground. They will touch the sky!!!

  • thanks, my operation is on hold atm because apparently gnats LOVE to live in my organic soil that I'm using. AND I'm having a problem with mold. I heard about the only way to solve that (besides grapefruit seed extract) is to have a fan running constantly to keep mold spores from settling.

  • I soak them covered for 12 hours then rinse every AM and PM. After the first soak they are not covered with water- just damp. Yes they sit in the dish - which I cover losely. They have to be able to breath but yet not dry out. Once the tails get about as long as the wheat berry itself you put them in a larger tray to grow on your choice of medium.

  • I did cover the wheatberries completely for about 12 hours then rinse. After that I rinse AM and PM and cover well but leave a little room for air they need but not so loose that they dry out. Thats where you need to experiment with what works for your climate and situation. You will find out what works. Don't be discouraged if you ruin a batch or 2 figuring it out.

  • when you said "After that I rinse AM and PM and cover well..." does that mean they aren't submerged anymore? like just left to be wet sitting in the bare casserole dish? How long do you leave them sit to sprout before you but them on the soil? also, do you rinse them a 2nd or 3rd time? I've read that it's best to rinse them thoroughly the first time then soak for quite a while then rinse again then sprout. We need specifics here! thanks!

  • Do you sprout the seeds underneath a layer of water? Or do you soak them first for 8 hours and than keep them well moist in your flat dish? I'm still trying to figure out what the exact steps are. I watch your videos but also see a lot of other ways to sprout the seeds. What works best for you?

  • @ZennidGalid

Just layer a long piece of paper towel. Give your berries a good initial rinsing. Spread them out onto the paper towel, use your kitchen counter, and spread them out evenly. You will see results in 6 hours!

Lighting: cover them during the day if the sunlight is too bright. cover them with paper towel.

You will see wheat grass in 4 days, so if you want to make bread in you dehydrator before then, just almost until they start into grass is when you make your cracker snacks.
