it feels the same to me... and your right, Lexus are VERY reliable. espically when they randomly accelerate off of a cliff. and the reason why? because when people want a luxury car they want something special, not a Toyota with leather wood, and chrome.

@jwatwater I have driven both the GX470 in the states and own a 2006 Land Cruiser 120 series here in Europe and other than the obvious exterior design differences, the interior is almost the same. The only real big differences are the greater use of wood, small dual center armrest, electric adjustable sterring wheel and premium mark levison sound system in the lexus. The only thing I don't like about the LC in compariosn to the lexus is the sterring wheel isnt electronic. It is a great SUV.

@jwatwater If you think this is a rebadged Toyota, you've never driven both to compare. It might be based on the same car, but it is lightyears different. 4runner feels like a bumpy truck and the interior feel economy. GX470 is quiet and smooth like a real Lexus. Feels like any real luxury car. Plus the interior is nicer than in my 2003 Mercedes S class.

@normalais actually, my aunt has a Lexus, and my mom has a fully optioned 4Runner (wood, leather, etc) and theyre both pretty much the same. dont get me wrong theyre nice, but no. and I need your drug dealers number if you think a Lexus is nicer than a Mercedes. Lexus are VERY nice, but not when it's the same as a $15k less Toyota...

@jwatwater Its not the same. They feel very different on the road. And yeah, Lexus is on the Mercedes level. Except much more reliable. Besides, what's wrong with Lexus basing the GX and LX on the Land Cruiser/4Runner? Why should Lexus make a new SUV from zero? Land Cruiser/4Runner are very capable trucks, and Lexus makes them much more luxurious. Don't know why anyone would have a problem with that.

I drove the PRADO (the lowest version 2400 inline-4 diesel) for a while and it was AWESOME. I drove while in Indonesia and it would literally take you anywhere, I overtook Land Cruisers, Nissan Patrols, Mitsubishi Monteros, Land Rover Defenders.

Because of work I've driven many SUV but I honestly think a better 4x4 has never been built (... save for a 1970 Mercedes Unimog truck... maybe)

Well, I can't really say the Prado is EXACTLY as a Lexus GX... it looks more rugged and does better offroad. Plus, the backlights and front are differ. I'd say for the price, get the Prado because my cousin who lives in Australia says the Prados sell for about $30,000 (US), and here in the US, the GX can range from the $40,000's to the $60,000s.

what are you talking about? this is a toyota, not a lexus. there are some proper lexus's (the lexus is, the gs, and the ls) that share nothing with toyota's. but this, the es, the lx, the rx, and the sc are all simply rebadged toyotas.

this one is the european toyota landcruiser v6. look it up.

lexus is owned by toyota, but i'm saying that some lexuses are nothing more than rebadged toyotas with leather. there are some that are completely engineered by lexus, however.

like: the lexus rx is a rebadged toyota harrier. the lexus sc is a toyota soarer. the es is a toyota camry. the gx is the land cruiser v6 and the lx is the land cruiser v8.

but the is, ls, and gs were engineered completely by lexus from the ground up to be luxury cars. these are the only ones worth buying.

im sorry but the lexus is, is a toyota alteza, the gs is a toyota aresto, and the ls is a toyota crown, the only reason i can think of that would make you think that these are one off cars is that the alteza, aresto and crown are only avalible in japan, and you would never know about them unless you were into japonese cars with a passion. to be honist, i found out about there existance threw the game tokyo extreme racer for the PS2 in 2001.
