Ah, Royal Rumble mode as my mate called it. Best played with a mate, and you try to keep count of who chucked more guys off the side. Winner gets to choose if you're going for the bad end or not. Bags of fun and we still play it, even though it's been years.
This is me and my brother's fave level. We called it the Royal Rumble stage. The first to toss a higher number of baddies over the top rope wins. Kills by punches, kicks and Police Car doesn't count.

I know everyone is going to eat me alive for this, but Streets of Rage 1 sucks ass. Number 2 is good, and the Golden Axe games are good, but SOR1 is just shit.
@Rabspat I dislike SOR1 because it is mostly just walk forward and punch the crap out of the bad guys. There is no dash and the stages are mostly straightaways, unlike Golden Axe where the levels and twisty and turvy. Weapons are a nice addition but I think the magic system in Golden Axe does away with it.
@MajBlood Yeah, I would bed to differ there. While the fighting itself in the game is subpar, the atmosphere and visuals of the game are wonderful, I think, and really add to the gritty filthy city feel. SoR2, while better in fighting, the graphics are too cheery, the music is too cheery-gamey, and the story is pretty much SoR1 all over again (Mr. X is in a factory on an island! Kick his ass!). I by and far love SoR1 the most, followed by 3 (except music).

It hasn't aged well, and some of the mechanics (mostly how beating the bosses on higher difficulties requires cheap tactics) are lackluster, but the game's still pretty solid as a whole. Golden Axe if anything is just as bad if not worse due to the fact that you pretty much need to spam dash attacks or use Gilius Thunderhead's jump attack (he has better attack's overall in terms of range or priority). The magic basically is the same as the police system in this game.
In fact, SoR1 had stuff like team attack throws that made the co-op even better than Golden Axe's. Golden Axe isn't a bad game, but SoR1 is at least as decent as it is. After all, SoR1 basically helped get the Sega Genesis popular for a reason. People wanted a beat 'em up on a home console like Final Fight that had co-op (something the SNES port didn't have) and SoR1 delivered.

I'm still trying 2 figure out how to grab them to throw them! i can't figure it out! Can u give me some pointers? When i get near the enemy, all i can do is punch them or they will hit me, i can't grab them from the front and throw them. From the back, tha'ts easy.
i was gonna download this video and put in on my PS3 until that 'owned' thing came up all the time. how lame was that? quite possibly the best way to ruin a decent video.

Oh I almost forgot, in most old beat em ups on Genesis, you have a back attack by pressing B+C together. Blaze will do a High Kick to the back kicking anybody behind her.
You know if you're close enough to the edge facing the edge and your enemy has their back to the edge and you grab & flip over them, you'll land on the rail and you can slam german Suplex them off. I find that more painful for them when they fly down because they will then have to see the ground coming towards them and the sudden stop. It takes some time to master but it is super fun to do. Nice Owned count by the way.

I think throwing people off the stage was the only possible way to kill the baddues without dying.

my girl was sharp @ 21 (BLAZE) ;)
her opponents went deaf with that "!!AAY!!!"
tone down in SOR2 though... now the electra and the girls with the whip have her voice... blaze still'll whoop em! ;)

Blaze is easily the best character against bosses, which can kill you faster than any random goons in the game can.

Oh I almost forgot, in most old beat em ups on Genesis, you have a back attack by pressing B+C together. Blaze will do a High Kick to the back kicking anybody behind her.

You know if you're close enough to the edge facing the edge and your enemy has their back to the edge and you grab & flip over them, you'll land on the rail and you can slam german Suplex them off. I find that more painful for them when they fly down because they will then have to see the ground coming towards them and the sudden stop. It takes some time to master but it is super fun to do. Nice Owned count by the way.
