  • I hated her character throughout the show but after this i liked her haha

  • Throughout ALL the serial Aetia IS a "crazy bitch", and I haven't expected from her saying to her "Imperial son's wife" something like: ...REMEMBER...MANY MUCH BETTER WOMEN THAN YOU TRIED TO DESTROY ME ...

    ....AND THEY'RE ALL DEAD!!!

She's NOT any "crazy bitch", now.

It's a sentence that ONLY A GREAT WOMAN CAN SAY!

    She becames it right here...

  • Two days later, Atia of the Julii was found dead by poison.

  • Oh this makes me wish they'd continued the show into Octavian's reign just to see livia and atia go head to head more often!

  • There are two figures of Roman History that could make great dramas, but: Hollywood, BBC, HBO an the others; have never noticed them. They are Lucius Catilina and Clodia. Both of the same era, the one of adult youth of Julius Caesar and Cicero.Catilina a gangster but an aristocrat, a populist who despised the people, a hedonist that easily switched to stoic. Also, an early prototype of Julius Caesar lacking the genius, while surfeiting in self-indulgence. Clodia requires a full post for her alone.

  • Awesome man!.....except it never happened...too bad...lmao

    Makes a great soap tho!

  • I hated Atia... But OOOH did she own her there! :D

  • Far better womens then you

    She's referring to cleopatra

  • @seb2455

Historically, Livia is a figure of great stature, while Atia was relatively unknown. It took too much literary license in this series to fudge up Atia´s character and make her more interesting, powerful and beautiful than Cleopatra and Livia together. A generation of young viewers are gonna be misled by this HBO Rome Series, their knowledge of Rome´s History of that era is gonna be way off. The same or even worse in the Series "The Tudors", History was butchered.

  • Cunning, fierce, brutal, ruthless and 100% pure BITCH!. That's one mother you don't fuck!

  • Go Atia!!!!

  • lol Octavia's all like "my mom's a badass."

  • Kerry Condon being so happy, and her smile at the end, were the best things in a great scene imo.

  • Best scene of both seasons, the real life actor said so herself, "Atia could rule Rome if she weren't a woman," and this scene proves why! :)

  • @Mizukage6 Please. Atia was far too short-sighted to have been an effective conqueror or ruler, she would have just become another Marc Antony.

  • i laughed so loudly when i saw this scene

  • Don't know but I kinda always compare characters from Rome to characters in Caligula.I think Livia from I Claudius is much much better while augustus in Rome especially in the first season is better or at least more realistic. It would be interesting to think about how they morphed though.Seeing Rome's Octavius morfing into Brian Blessed

  • @sumadinac92 pardon,Instead of Caligula I meant I Claudius

  • @msgt33 John Hurt was a thorough dissapointment as Caligula in my view...

  • @Mistermax30

In that opinion, you are alone.

  • @powerdriller10 Not at all, I've known quite a few people who, after seeing "I Claudius" had the precise same estimation. He portrayed Caligula as the stereotypical sissy faced psychopathic nancy boy. The historical Caligula was quite different...

  • @Mistermax30

Ok, I agree with you that historical Caligula might have been quite different from the most common theatrical representations of him. But, Hurts interpretation in "Claudius", as an artistic work, was still very good. Even if it follows prejudiced script.

  • @powerdriller10 I agree. And don't get me wrong, I'm a big fan of Hurt's work in general. I did find some enjoyable elements in his Caligula performance, but at the end of the day, I saw it as being stereotypical...

  • flawless victory, atia wins

  • That end shot, brilliantly filmed.

  • @msgt33 I agree, that would be awesome!

  • @msgt33 I agree, 'Rome' did disgrace most of the historical facts and could've been better. Hopefully the producers will do WAY BETTER with "I, Claudius' and that they'll have some REAL and GOOD historical consultants on the project too, plus Im sure fans of the original will be expecting and hounding the producers to do the orignal justice.

  • @HistoryLover1550 alot of it is accurate, except we no little about Atia, her attitude which they gave her respond so the matrona of that time, woman-power behind the scene

  • @TheGenX1979 You've a good point, can't argue with that.

  • @HistoryLover1550 thnx, i just saw my english wasnt that good, always when i just wake up, and listen 2 youtube for some music, my english isnt that good , lol. But if ur english urself, alot of Plutarch and seutonius works can be found online. Especially Plutarchs works. if u like Rome, compare Plutarchs Marc Anthony with that of Rome, They were very accurate except Marc Anthony had a beard most of the time, in Rome they give it 2 him when he is in a cold climate like Gaull

  • @TheGenX1979 U r right, Antony's portrayal in the series is accurate to the accounts of Plutarch and other Roman writers, some surviving images of him are in fact beardless though.

  • Love her!

  • I've heard 'Rome' executive producers and BBC are planning to do a remake of the classic miniseries 'I, Claudius', hopefully it will be awesome!

  • atia. favorite woman character of Rome. period.

  • They never really met, to my knowledge Atia died before Octavian got married with Livia.

  • @tvpnbb indeed, Livia was his third wife.

  • i dont car a fuck what the priest says.

  • And thus the MILF myth begins.

  • I love how the happy ending of this show is "thank god attia is a crazy bitch again." A+ Rome

  • I have to say; Atia is one sexy bitch! She and Octavian were my favourite characters in the whole series.

Why did they cancel Rome? Why?!

  • @000000poizen000000 They put an end to the series because it was too expensive. Moreover, after the battle of Actium, there's no more wars, so it's not interesting...

  • Atia... you got to love her

  • I didn't know they dropped the F-Bomb that much in acncient Rome

  • Whether or not this really happened, you have to admit this is one awesome scene.

  • This scene is complete bullshit, never could have happened. They made up a lot of stuff but Octavian had already banished his mother for marrying her stepson , something the show ignored, and the whole Marc Antony / Aetia thing, never HAPPENED !!!!

  • @vasp99 It's a TV drama, NOT a historical documentary. Get a life!!!

  • @maclach1 It's always interesting to see the creeps who think that being anonymous makes it all right to be so rude. My guess would be that you have to watch your mouth very carefully in real life, and that's probably a good thing, you creep .

  • @vasp99 Um ... you're the one who used words like "bullshit" in your post. And I have to watch MY mouth is real life? I'm rude? Really? And since when does having a difference of opinion make someone a "creep"? I was simply pointing out how sad it is when someone has to pick apart a TV DRAMA - a well written TV drama, which is only LOOSELY based on actual events - and point out all the historical inaccuracies. If you want historical accuracy read a history text book or watch a DOCUMENTARY.

  • Never happened.

  • @ninjast4r It's a tv drama not a documentary tool, wake up.

  • @Phil6590 WHAT??? It's not a documentary tool??? Get out of town, you nut! By the way, what's a documentary tool? What does it do?

  • @ninjast4r Illiterate AND uneducated, how old are you? 12? Go finish high school before you post your useless opinion

  • @Phil6590 That was sarcasm, friend. Perhaps you've heard of it? No? Pity. I was taking the piss out of you and you fell for it, miserably. Take a bow, Phil, Lord of the Idiots. You've earned it.

  • @ninjast4r Sarcasm entails intelligence, and you're a 12 year old child. You make me laugh. Go jump off a bridge and end your suffering. Your stupidity is a disease that can't be cured.

  • @Phil6590 Ooh, struck a nerve, did I, exposing you for the fool you are? Well, I must say, you've hurt my feelings with those witty barbs and retorts, Phil. Does this mean we can't be friends? I mean, repeating the same insult over and over again will surely have to work at least once based on probability alone. And as the coup de grace, suggest someone take their own life after having your ass handed to you on a silver platter with all the trimmings. That takes class. I've clearly met my match!

  • @ninjast4r Hahahaha you really think you have the capacity to insult me, don't you? You think anything you have to say (an inbred who posts a hate comment on a video of a scene from a highly acclaimed tv show) that would actually insult me? lmao you flatter yourself. I'm sorry to be the one to tell you this, but no one care what you think, let alone the fact you exist.

  • @Phil6590 Hmm, if no one cares what I think, or even that I exist, for that matter, why have you wasted so much of your precious, 'purebred' time stooping to my level? QED. Epic logic fail. And I never insulted Rome, dipshit. You took it upon yourself that I did. I stated this meeting never occurred because Atia was dead by this time. That's really more of an observation than an insult. But it's clear you really don't know what an insult is. If I said your mother is a whore, that's an insult.

  • @ninjast4r Epic logic fail? lmao How about the failed logic about the fact that Atia is clearly not dead, in this Rome scene? Because, as I said before, tool, this show is a drama rather than a historical documentary. It's clear you can't tell the difference between genres. By the way, I haven't wasted any of my time. You made a fool of yourself all on your own. It is big of you to admit you're at a lower level than me though. Keep talking moron, you sound smarter with every comment.

  • @Phil6590 I do sound smarter, actually, because you're still obsessed with this shit, and keep needing to get the last word in and clearly don't understand when you've been duped, lost, or when you sound really stupid. At first it was amusing to see levels of subtlety and sarcasm go way over your head and how pissed you got. But now it's just sad. I almost (ALMOST) pity you. Do you have a list of people that were mean to you in high-school that you plan of killing someday? You're just sad, man.

  • @ninjast4r lmao you just keep entertaining me. I must be really pissed since I've been laughing in your face this entire time. It seems quite contradicting that I've "lost" as you say, considering you're a idiot that makes idiotic comments, and I've proven just that. You can't even defend yourself, but instead try to deflect like a coward. A 9 year old kid would have better success insulting me than you. You're a JOKE.

  • @Phil6590 You've really hurt my feelings with that last one. I didn't realize that arguing on the internet was such SERIOUS BUSINESS to you. You are a petulant loser who needs to get the last word in. Can't you realize that you're an idiot? Evidently not, as you keep going. I've offended your honor, by being a "coward" and can't defend myself. Defend against what, exactly? Mr. Internet Tough Guy Phil6590? Does this really mean that much to you? What's next? A breath holding contest? Pathetic.

  • @ninjast4r AHahaha now who's getting all worked up? Huh tool? Since you need me to spell it out for you, you can't even defend yourself against the fact that I was right to call out your comment, you douchebag. lmao please, post more comments about what "didn't happen" in the show, I'm sure you can think of a few more things. Let's hear it idiot, make me LAUGH =D

  • @Phil6590 I've given ample opportunity for you to prove the be the bigger man to walk away, but since you haven't taken it, I'll take it for you. The only thing wrong about the show is that retards like you are allowed to watch it. For the sake of humanity's collective IQ, please go fuck yourself and die. You are incredibly worthless, and I can't believe I've wasted so much of my time to try and talk some sense into you. I'm done. Please, waste more time. Let everyone see what a loser you are.

  • @ninjast4r Hahaha you seem pretty upset, you should go to a bar sometime and just chill out. A gay bar. Because you're a fag. That's right, bitch out and fuck off. By the way, it really was a pleasure to finally meet a future Darwin Award candidate. I look forward to reading about you one day.

  • Sian Phillips (the Livia from I Claudius) would have eaten this Livia for breakfast :D

  • @Stuart2554 and Atia too!

  • VERY NOT REALISTIC

  • I just love the "Far better women than you". She defeated Servilia, but she was no idiot: she knew she was dealing with a true rival. Even in death she practically ruined her life. But ATIA PREVAILS!

  • That was so amazing. XD Octavian's little bitch needs to learn how to shut the fuck up and listen to Atia.

  • Watch out Atia, Livia grows up to be Siân Phillips!

  • Atia is a bad woman. I do not like her at all.

  • You don't fuck w/ Octavian's mom, she'll gut you with a prison shank w/ a smile.

  • Go Atia. Show her who's boss.

  • I Wish Rome had gone series 3

    THUMBS UP

  • Atia was the personification of power politics ... one of the best Machiavellian character potrayals on the screen, ever. Loved her to bits. I miss Rome. :( Best accurate fiction, ever!

  • @mbdulka i agree Rome was a damn good depiction of the era and its mores. But hasn't anyone noticed that the writers never made mention that Octavian was actually married to Scribonia when he was introduced to Livia?True, she had no importance other than having born Octavian's only child, Julia.

  • @57monks Sure, they warped historical relationships a bit (Agrippa marries Octavian's daughter Julia, etc....), but as you noted, the elan of the series (pre-christian period), was extremely well-done. The language (obviously would have been cooler in Latin for a nerd like me :P), the mannerisms, the lack of shame of nudity, the lax ideas of sex, the brutality, etc... just awesome. I can watch this over and over, no problem, never get bored with it. Miss it!

  • @57monks If they added Scribonia then they would have had to add the 10 or more years they skipped in the series. I'm sure they wanted to add more history (and no doubt dramatize them for our pleasure), but I remember hearing at the time of the series that the budget wasn't helping their cause at all, so they had to fast forward and end abruptly. The accurate depiction of Roman art and culture (cinematography was excellent!) was just too expensive

  • Atia was way better than both the chics friom sparticus.......

  • haha fucking amazing!!! : " I dont give a fuck what the priest say" genious

  • @riddellydiddelly It's the HBO series "Rome". ran for only 2 seasons. check it out.

  • I hated Atia at first. She was a like a bitchy bourgie and cruel woman who became an ellegant diva by time her son became Emperor of Rome.

  • "I don't give a fuck what the priests say. I won't let a vicious little trollop like you walk ahead of me."

Go on, Atia! You let that arrogant bitch know not to fuck with you!

  • Polly is awsome! - Sevilla and Cleopatra....go look for them now

  • livia was one ruthless bitch

  • What is the last thing Atia says?

I hear something like... you count as one of them now...

    is that correct?

  • @Davy2rainShe said "You are swearing now that some day you will destroy me. Remember: far better women than you have sworn to do the same. Go and look for them now."

  • @Davy2rain she says:

Atia: I don't give a fuck what the priest say, I will not let a viscous little trollop like you, walk ahead of me, I GO First.

Livia: I take no offense off course, you are not yourself

Atia: I know who you are, I can see you, your swearing now, that someday, you'll destroy me. Remember! Far better women that you have sworn to do the same, go and look for them now!

  • Interesting to compare Livia and Augustus from Rome to those of I Claudius.I like to imagine how they evolved from Rome ti IC versions.I think the only way possible Livia could evolve into calculated villain of I Claudius is by looking up to Atia...and the only way Augustus could have evolved into Brian Blessed version from IC is by being pissed everyone thought of him of being soulless and trying his best to be nice, also eating extensively....

  • I really doubt Atia talked this way, according to Tacitus:

"In her presence no base word could be uttered without grave offence, and no wrong deed done. Religiously and with the utmost delicacy she regulated not only the serious tasks of her youthful charges, but also their recreations and their game" Dialogus de Oratoribus

  • @TheKsk1997 ati wasnt really octavians mother ati is based on the life of another roman women they just used the name, their is no relation between the historical atia and this one.

  • @ACrules100 Sounds to me there is a relation... as she insists on walking before [ ] .. What a shame to distort history like that to serve entertainment

  • @ACrules100 This is true. The historical charactor you are refering to is Cuigula's Mother. Correct?

  • @ddmhughes No Atia is based on Clodia.

  • Should have been born a man in Roman times.

  • i love atia. it is though her that i understand politics :)

  • That's Clodia not Livia, Augustus (Octavian) didn't marry Livia until after his daughter Julia was born to his second wife Scribonia.

  • I would like Atia to be my mother!!

  • No one puts Atia in a corner.

  • @88bdorn Anyway an old whore.

No woman can match against a long life cunt

  • Kerry condon is beyond hotter than hot.

  • Livia was the first empress of Rome and she was a shrewd, brilliant woman.

  • oooooo pwnd biiitch, u just got served, by the bitch

  • I love Atia. Undoubtedly the most supreme super bitch ever to grace television, and yet somehow we manage to feel sympathy and sorrow for her, after all the plotting and manipulating. It just goes to show what a talented actress Polly Walker is and how deft the writers of the show were. This scene is almost more epic than some of the bigger battles. Brilliant stuff!

  • Far better women then you. Well thats the nicest thing she ever said about Servilla.

  • @Crazydog7 omg YOU ARE RIGHT!!!!

  • @Crazydog7 this is my favorite scene of the second series, it was when i finally realised i like attia, i hated her at the start. i always liked that "far better women" line too, it was servilla's last hurrah. i think she deserved it after what she went through.

  • @Crazydog7 and of coures cleopatra too.

  • @Crazydog7 I agree!

  • @Crazydog7 Servilla and Cleopatra

  • I couldn't give a fuck!

That told the stuck up little bitch!

  • I don't give a fuck..... what the priest say...." "I will not let a visious little trollop like you, walk ahead of me.... I go first"

I take no offense, off course, you are not yourself

" I know who are you, i can see, your swearing now, that someday you'll destroy me.... remember..!, far better women than you..... have sworn to do the same, go look for them now"

Octavia.... snapppp... whoops sorry... ill remain impartial

  • i can't stand those overly posh english accents.

  • they are meant to show their status in society. thats why titus pullo and lucius vorenus have a more common accent

  • atia ia one sexy bitch!! she has a naughtiness about her, lol i definitely would

  • Octavia was like 'oooh snap. bitch got served!'

  • DAYUM!!!

  • Livia from "Rome" is no match for Livia from "I, Claudius".

  • ATIA!!!!!!!!!!

  • You gotta love Atia's vicious attitude..." I dont give a fuck what the priest say, I wont let a viscious little trollop like you walk a ahead of me, I go first" hahahh

Thats a woman i would'nt wanna fuck with, well, unless we are in bed.

  • Vicious Vixen in the truest sense; Atia

  • Wowwwww! ATTITUDE! lol

  • Momma Atia layin down the law !!!! get it right bitches

  • @edmundjessie

Rome was highly inaccurate in its depiction of Atia and Octavian for that matter too.

  • Go on Livia >3 i love her,she is so beautiful and the best !!

  • In the series- I Claudius -is a great scene of Liva where she speaks of youthful glory . She speaks as being thought one of the most beautiful woman in the world. There had been that other one,in Egypt, but she,Liva, had lasted .

  • "I don't give a fuck what the priests say."

Alright, I need to have a 'Wayne-Brady-needs-to-slap-a-bitch' moment.

  • I didn't like Atia at first but towards the end I fucking loved her.

  • Attia is made of win

  • 2 of the baddest bitches in rome but there was only gonna be one winner here. not even cleopatra could fuck with attia and live. she is the biggest bitch in the series but i loved her and she was sexy aswell. id be her slave anyday....lol

  • oooohhhh snapp

  • @gabbi3 There are no better words to describe that amazing scene x)

  • agreed edmund .. idiotic comment from mashfan

  • Owned.

  • God, Atia's so badass. I used to hate her but for some reason I started liking her (probably because of all her awesomeness), though not necessarily everything she did but she was such an a great character! I hate Livia. Period. Just didn't like her one bit.

  • love atia ,love her, would to be her friend and help her to be even more of a strong woman than she really 'was ///octavian would only lsten to her ,rome would have been saved for another 2 millenia ..all the bath houses; gradiatrors, bacanal partys....no beter place in this world...then the crazy jews and christans and muslins had to come and destroy everythyng , bunch of sick barbarians//// with thiier crazy fanatic religions/// it really sucks no more freedomm ///

  • @maizegod77 -- you really don't know much about ancient classical history and your comments are quite ignorant. The ancient Romans were quite religious in their own right, and worshiped a plethora of Gods. You've already embarrassed yourself here, but its not too late to get some books, do some research, and learn something.

  • It's like looking into a younger, less experienced mirror...

  • I really wish they'd bring this show back!

  • They're making a movie that takes place four years after the final episode!

  • The future empress and widow of Augustus Caesar gets bitch slapped by her mother in law: and sister in law Octavia is glad to see it.

  • @bookkeeper57

Atia is a fictional character!!!!!! Livia s historical!

    LMAO

  • @kippsi1 LAMO: Augustus had a mother whoever she was. The scene is about Livia Drusilla, empress in waiting. She never bore him a son, but she maybe killed off half his family, paving the way for Tiberius Nero, her son by her first husband.

Augustus paid the devil back for breaking up that marriage.

  • @bookkeeper57

LOL, GOD punished him for fucking Livia, Roman emperors did what they pleased!

  • @kippsi1 God just sits back and watches most of what we do:

He gave us free will, and you're right, the emperors of Rome did what they wanted.

It's ironic that Augustus, so loyal to his family most of the time, married this woman,

the most successful fraud disguised as wife that ever lived.

  • wow, what movie is this??

  • HBO's "Rome".. this is the last episode of the second (last) season.

  • The best "Oh my god, I hate my mother-in-law" moment ever. And the best closing scene for a television villaness as well.

  • It's one of the best scenes of the series.

    Team Atia.

  • Atia was the best char in the series by far!

  • Atia is one sexy bitch

  • @DDBOOGER

Most evil manipulating woman are. quite a shame.

  • This is so kicking!

  • Who played Livia in this clip?

  • That gal Augustus is fucking has an abnormally large forehead.

  • @taxmonkey123

    And ugly teeth.

  • i love her ruthlessness she went out with her dignity after all the shit she went through

  • Best. Line. Ever.

  • this is my favourite scen, I love Atia but I very like "grandmother" Livia.

  • Tremendous shame that Rome didn't go on into a third season, I would have loved to see what was going to happen with Livia because the poor girl didn't get much of a run in the series (I would have also liked to see Tiberius but all he got was a mention). At any rate the movie is really something to look forward to

  • @gialla111 what movie??

  • @lennydale92

there's been a script in the works for a while now, I don't know mch more about it other than it's been written by Bruno Heller.

  • I love Atia !!

  • Whooo, I love Atia in this scene! :-)

  • Atia looks roman but your right roman women have big noses and darker olive skin like my mother however my mother has blue eyes roman women ussally had brown ones but a blue eyed slave cost twiced as much as a regular brown eyed one.about 2000 silver coins more for a blue eyed slave girl.blond and red wigs were popular, poor german woman sold there hair to rich roman woman to make wigs with.

  • Its interesting...

at first I disliked Atia for being such a bitch, and at the end I loved her for being such a bitch! that is a great personification for a character

  • Atia is a real bitch

  • but that's why we love her. ;)

  • Same here. When I watched the series the first time, I thought she was a great character, but I didn't like her... until this scene. When I saw Rome a second time, I was very fond of her throughout the entire series.

  • @pizzaleon I felt the same way!

But my heart broke when she saw Antony's body get paraded. =( The face she made... Broke my heart.
