  • @bellasome Halter is the same every time. You walk up to the judge, he moves awat, you trot off then get in line and set up for inspection. Showmanship is the one that has specific patterns that you need to study hard.

  • do you have to practice the course and do you ride englics to?

  • is this really a halter show. these dont look anything like halter horses, there isnt even a dress code! Lame.

  • okay thanks :)

  • im new to halter and was wondering how you know when to move to the other side of the horse, and is there a certain pattern you need to know before entering the arena?

  • The patterns are posted at the start of the show so, you know before you go into the arena. When presenting the horse to the judge you never want to be between the horse and the judge but as the judge goes around the by the tail you switch sides to see the judge at all times.

  • for halter, all u do is walk to the judge, then trot off and count to about 3 slowly then turn to the left and line up on the rail then square ur horse up, showmanship is where u have to execute a pattern, both of these type classes involve moving around ur horse wen they are squared up, wen the judge is between the withers and the head, be on the other side, wen hes between the hindquarters and the withers, same side, and vice versa on each side, good pattern tho!
