Good Lord! I keep coming back for more, I am addicted! This is as good as it gets. I have NEVER heard a better Chrysothemis. Her voice have everything. Warmth, breadth, focus, life, brilliance, it's grand! I love you Deborah Voigt!

Deborah Voigt singing this piece of music is, to my mind, one of the great operatic sounds of our era. She's the first Chrysothemis I ever heard (Metropolitan Opera radio broadcast, 2002), and she'll always be my favorite in the part!
Lord... The sound of Voigts voice here in this clip is more beautiful, rich and fresh than any other soprano I've heard singing this role. She proves that it is possible to SING this type of music and not shout it. In this piece she is my absolute favourite. Wonderful expression as well. :) What an inspiration for young dramatic voices. :)
I don't understand what people mean when they say that Mc. Zchau is not a good actress. I am very moved by her singing and her acting. She portrays an intense, demented, obsessive, vengeful/blood thirsty Elektra. Especially in relationship to the words of the piece. In fact, Zchau is a fine Elektra.
And Ms. Voigt is phenomenal as usual! That goes totally without saying!
I know she is still great, but I will always treasure this period of Voigts voice, it just seemed to be a limitless well of beauty. And she filled every phrase with such meaning, I think she is a great actress at any size, but her voice was so expressive to.
I was fortunate enough to go to the dress rehearsal of the current run of Elektra at the Met today. I was anxious to hear what Ms. Voigt sounded like and I was totally blown away. She was out of this world. She finally has her technique back under her belt in her new body and she seems to much more comfortable and at ease than she had in the last couple of years. It was just a steady, full, penetrating sound. I thought I would pass out every time she came on stage. I was let totally breathless.
@mattyslipp Yay! That makes me so happy to hear. Who is the Elektra, I hope that it is someone who can keep up with her. This role is so perfect for Ms. Voigts voice, I hope she makes a return to her Ariadne soon as well.
Wasn't it amazing I saw two performances and was shocked about how amazing she sounded. Nothing even close to what you about her new sound!!!!Just a fabulous fresh sound
This is one of the roles that brought Voigt to national prominence. One was Amelia in Ballo (she filled in at the last minute in San Francisco) and one was Ariadne (Boston first, I think, but not sure). The Met TV broadcast of Elektra with Behrens and Voigt really thrust her into national exposure. She gave Behrens a real "run for her money" and it all seemed so effortless.

Thank God, her Isolde was scary, and vocally edgy as hell. I look forward to hearing her beautiful voice once again.
