  • Yeah. 5 years to go!!!!!!!!!!!!!

  • @nindustrialny Yeah just thinking exactly that LOL

  • Is it me or "Hunger Games" author just stole the idea ???

  • Al Be Black.

  • Girl: "What happened to Buzzsaw?" Arnold: "He had to split."

  • @tubenachos

    what a hothead

  • wow were right on track to being like this in 2017

  • CRAP FILM,GOOD BOOK.

  • arnold is my favorite actor i really wanna see this movie but i cn never find it

  • isn't the background music from aliens?

  • ROFLMAO please tell the author of The Hunger Games didn't get inspired by this movie...very original Suzzane Collins...(Golf Clap)

  • @ktucan1 thank you!!!! Everyone is like "omg too much like the running man." yes its a bit similar to battle royale but who gives. Suzanne Collins is my favourite author ever!!

  • skip to 1:57 on this video and play them to and play this video and this one /watch?v=GZ0d-Hjhtj4&feature=artist together

  • a bit like rollerball no?

  • @Mbob92 rollerball is a bit like this

  • i trying to get hold of the song when there escaping from prison but cant find it any where :(

  • Arnold is op

  • Maria Conchita Alonso's ass is phenomenal in that runner suit. Plus the movie is great!!

  • This is so SMASH TV the game... check the Smash Tv arcade game in you never played it

  • nice

  • I love Arnold, and his cheeeze

  • wat the... was i reading the book wrong or??...... wtf richard wasnt accused of a crime he has a sick daughter and went on the show to get his daughter a doctor... this is the stephen king book right?

  • @hoittybabesticles Yeah but this was the 80's, Stephen king films had very little to do with the books outside of the basic concept..

  • @hoittybabesticles This movie was ''loosely'' based off the book. Keep that in mind.

  • This movie was way beyond its time....

  • @Furtraderrim a lot of movies pictured a controlled police state before this movie came out in 1987.it wasn't ahead of it's time

  • @geiuy And how many of those police state movies had reality TV as their backdrop? When running man came out Real World was still years away. Now 1 out of every 2 programs on television is reality tv. And on top of that, audience participation on reality TV. Like I said: Ahead of its time.

  • @Furtraderrim the big brother concept existed years before this was made.orwell's "1984" book was written in 1949.but yeah,i understand what you mean

  • I think it is also important to remember a remake would make the problem of "hiding" even more troublesome today. There are cameras and ATM machines everywhere Evan MaCohne and the hunters could use to track down Richards even faster than they do in the book. What about digital data distribution, the book was one of its time, written within the tech limitations S.K. was cognizant of. Written today, the book may have been very different.

  • The responses by people for remaking this like the book are in their right to do so, but like any S.K. book, rendering the subltle, the prosaic, the momentary fragments of genuine humanity that ring out in his novels is a tall tall order. There are whole sections in the Running Man book where Richards reviews his life, makes judgement on it and it is always the internal dialogue that is rushing the plot forward, as much as external events do.

  • Killian is an amalgam of 2 characters that are prominent in the novella. The Director of the Running Man Dan killian, and Bobby Thompson, the show's host. Whose hair is silvery fine enough to be suspect :)

  • The book is based around a man whom society, both social and technological have hollowed out, he finds within himself a latent revolutionary and comedian. The book is very poignant, written in the best pen of S.K. There are gems of expression, for instance " The mall as it stood looked like the skeleton of a murdered idea"

  • The book this is based off of, "the Running Man" by Stephen King using his pseudonym Richard Bachman is superior on all levels. If any old movie should be remade, it is this one. The book, while short, is a compact, thought provoking darkly humorous satire of modern day polarization and corporate manipulation of the masses. It has a furtive energy and plot that is heads and shoulders above the movie adaptation.

  • This movie was DOPE! lol Yezzir!

  • Hello, cutie pie!

  • ''The year is 2017. The world economy has collapsed. The United States has sealed off it's borders and has become a military controlled police state which controls TV, movies, art, books, communication and censorship.''

Hahahaha, well all they got wrong was the year, everything else is already a fact.

  • In 2017, the worlds economy has collapsed, and Hollywood has wrecked another classic piece of literature.

  • book is better

  • ok "in 2017 the world's economy has collapsed" is probably scarily accurate cz its 2011 n its close to. Running man could end up bn nt to far from the truth of wat will happen. Everyone poor except corporations n they will av so much power they cn do this

  • I guess even in 2017 we'll have a shitbox for a car

  • Hunger Games, eat your heart out....

  • @PiedPiper96 This is simply what happened before the Hunger Games :P

  • only 6 years away!

  • the whole film of death race has been copied form this film

he get a accursed of something and then he take part in some game to be free

  • After "The shining" and "IT", not to mention "The mist" it's a relief to see a Stephen King adaption that's not utter merda rasa. Well, "Anything is possible" as Bohr said.

  • I'l be back!

  • The first reality tv

  • This is my all time favorite Schwarzenegger movie. Also, thank god that spell check has Schwarzenegger in its database.

  • This movie must have been the inspiration behind classic video game "Smash TV" (itself a remake of an early 80s classic, "Robotron 2084")

  • Todays action stars dont even come close.

  • Class film...watching it now

  • Trailer of the day!

  • the ugly fat guy with the light bulbs was the funniest, great movie

the producers in the 80s cant't predict the power of the internet, TV Shows are not the future

  • ...it's just like the hunger games....

  • 'it was the freshest move i'd ever seen..like he was walkin on air...'

  • Comment removed

  • The plot for this movie is pretty cheesy if you ask me... :P

  • @sonicmario64

You should read the short story by Steven King then. (Was written by "Richard Bachmann" though - his aka. pen name). The short story is really cool. I agree the film was somewhat "cheeseafacated"

  • I can't believe how close we are to living through this future 2017.

  • @bertyUK maybe you should be less paranoid, i assume your single based on your comment, so that will help get you a date.

this is fiction we are nowhere near or will ever be this future. so stop being like those geeky star trek freaks or a terrible future/ new world order nut because none of those things exist.

  • i can't believe they're making a sequel without Arnold!

  • He'll be back once more...

  • Arnold Schwarzenegger is......... A fucking badass.

  • i have this movie, autographed!

  • THIS SHOULD BE A VIDEO GAME. C'mon EPIC GAMES I want this online!

  • This is Stephen King's "Running man"? I read the book... and for God's sake... PLEEEEEEASE REEEEEMAKE!

This isn't roughly King's story... I am sorry... IT ISN'T!!!

  • @BlueBox906

There's no way anyone will remake "The Running Man" faithfully.

Because it has - in light of what happened 10 years ago - one of the most chilling endings.

I won't spoil it - except to say it involves crashing a plane into a massive skyscraper.

  • 21 Running Man contestants disliked this!

  • @wrath231 LOOOOL!!!

  • Starsky from Starsky & Hutch directed this.

  • i miss over the top 80's action movies

  • Hallo Süsser!

Ich glaube, einer von uns sitzt tief in der Scheisse!

  • i would love to see this type of game show on tv, we could round up rag heads from some shit hole of a sand covered country and make them go on this show, just think of the ratings people.

  • "The year is 2017. The world economy has collapsed. The United States has sealed off it's borders and has become a military controlled police state which controls TV, movies, art, books, communication and censorship."

Welcome to the real world bitches. Only six more years.

  • @XeroNXS

    Yeah!

    It's all coming TRUE!!!

    5hit!!

  • @XeroNXS Wasnt that the bush admin.

Well except for the borders part.

  • @XeroNXS It couldn't get any more prophetic than this.

  • @XeroNXS i'll post this comment again like i did to another nutjob on this video...

maybe you should be less paranoid, i assume your single based on your comment, so that will help get you a date.

  • Thumbs up if you're watching this in 2017. :3

  • Why is there music from Aliens playing on the background?

  • @KorHenri

    When?

  • @PassionPromote

    Almost the whole trailer.

  • @KorHenri

Well maybe its just simular. The intro for the shinning sounds a lot like sleeping w the enemy

  • @PassionPromote

I'm sure it's still from Aliens [1986]. Check it's soundtrack. It is composed by James Horner.

  • @KorHenri

    They shud sue for copyright

  • i heard Schwarzenegger is planning to remake some of his hit movies including this

  • Way to ruin an awesome stephen king book!

  • @southaxe

    that´s true :(

  • I remember playing this on my old c64.

  • 20 people are contestants on "Climbing for Dollars"

  • The film is a lot more relevant today, or at least the original source material, given the fact that reality based TV is still king of the airwaves (cheap and relatively easy to produce, no unionized talent to get in the way), so a remake might actually be more relevant today, if they stick to the source material. But, given the ending of the source material, I don't know if enough time has past since 9-11 that they can show that ending.

  • GREAT action film!

  • king on one-liners

  • I think the movie "Gamer" is based on this movie, but with some new stuff thrown in. I still love this movie (TRM) though. Arnold still rocks!!!

  • Hello cutie pie.... one of us is in deep trouble..... love that quote

  • That's a remake of a french movie called "Le prix du danger" (1983, by Yves Boisset) (Prize of Peril), more than the Stephen King adaptation.

  • 2017. you say? Great, only 6 years to go. I can't wait to see what really happens.

  • This looks nothing like the Bachman/King book it's based off of...

  • " I'll be back " xD

  • This is television, that's all it is. It has nothing to do with people, it's to do with ratings! For fifty years, we've told them what to eat, what to drink, what to wear... for Christ's sake, Ben, don't you understand? Americans love television. They wean their kids on it. Listen. They love game shows, they love wrestling, they love sports and violence. So what do we do? We give 'em *what they want*! We're number one, Ben, that's all that counts, believe me.

  • @reniisgod

What have you been smoking ?

  • @reniisgod This tube is the gospel: the ultimate revelation. This tube can make, or break, Presidents, Popes, Prime Ministers. This tube is the most awesome, God damn force in the whole godless world.

Television is not the truth. Television is a God damn amusement park. Television is a traveling troupe of acrobats, story tellers, dancers, lion tamers, sideshow freaks, and football players. we're in the boredom killing business.

  • @reniisgod Just don't live in the states anymore. Big deal ;) There is plento of countries without tv

  • i remember watching this as a kid its a very Awesome movie but for some reason it freaked me out. but i love it.

  • This movie is totally under-rated on IMDb!

I just watched it and it was just fugg'n AWESOME, pure genius!

Arnie is a total stalker-killer! Brilliant movie!!

I think this is one of the very best after Arnie's Total Recall!! This is so much more fun than Commando or Eraser, althought they were GREAT too!

This should have got awards ;D!

  • i dont think it had enough explosive sounds in it.

  • @cheomire= Because Michael Bay didn't direct it.

  • @vigo894 back then he was directing music videos wasnt he?

  • There should be a remake of this

  • "how bout a light?" i lol'd... hard

  • See, i like that quality.

  • anyone stuck with old tv buy the 2 disc sony release. It has the 4:3 tv print. Hope this helps.

  • His best movie if you ask me...today's action movies move too fast..they are full of special effects and action but don't take the time to develop the characters.

  • @whiskeyify= It's my favorite of Arnold's movies too. Love this film.

  • 2017? Goddamn do I hope the world is like this in 6 years.

  • quite possibly the worst move ive ever seen

  • Has this ANYTHING common with the book? I'm reading that now.

  • @HUNspike apparently stephen king said arnold's character could not be more different to ben richards

i have a feeling that this movie isnt very good, but i really enjoyed the book, so im still gonna watch it

and when i say really enjoyed, i dont mean it was amazing, but it was worth reading

  • @Parker10997

While it is very different, it's still a pretty awesome movie. While some SK books are adapted horriblyl, a select few are just as good in a different way) for example, The Lawnmower Man film I'd say was better than the short story it was allegedly based off (with heavy changes). Give it an open eart man, you may find one awesome 80s flick. Tell us what you think of it.

  • @Grahamx227 oh, im not saying that all 80s movies are bad, i just have a feeling this wont be that great

i did watch stand by me which i really liked

  • @PassionToTheSky by the way, im on a different computer so i didnt realise my old yt account was signed in

    this is still parker10997

  • @Parker10997

in the films opening credits stephen king was credited as

richard bachman but the book of the film was under stephen king

    as richard bachman.

  • *Hot governor on governor action!*

  • The description of the movie is spot on for today. Only 6 years left now and USA is following the plan pretty damn good I must say.

  • get too the chopper

  • I'll be back? Sonova!

  • STEPHEN KING's THE RUNNING MAN! got the book.

  • Death Race (the movie) was probably based on this movie. Well, at least the main plot is.

  • @11ninjas1 Death Race is a shitty remake. Its nothing like the original. The original Death Race 2000 was about a cross country race and the drivers got points for the number of people they ran over.

  • The year is 2011. The world economy has collapsed. The United States has sealed off it's borders and has become a military controlled police state which controls TV, movies, art, books, communication and censorship. In the police state America has become, criminals have a choice

  • @Chaocracy lol

  • @Chaocracy Citizen! You have been monitored using the internet to make seditious comments against the state! (Humorous cynical comment category 3) Remain still! The Department of Homeland Security will be at your place of residence within the next 3 minutes to administer Compulsory Opinion Adjustment.

  • This could be the future, but for some it already is...

    :C

  • OH MY GOD!

I just remember to have sse this movie in 2000!

  • Also the awesome ending of the book is not in the movie. And it will definitely will not be in any future remake. When Richards guides the plane to crash into the skyscraper of the corporate elite, he gives a middle finger, then the second one :-D But if you really think about it, it is basically the same situation as 9/11 (if you belive the story that people who did it were actually enemies of corporate imperialism, not its servants for dirty jobs).

  • I have seen the movie for several times and have read the book for at least 3 times. Since I like Arnold's movies I can't say the movie is crap. But it is quite weak compared to Terminator or Totall Recall.

I read more than 30 books by S. King. This book is not a horror unlike the most of the rest. It is a highly prophetic vision of the world today or in the near future with a strong social message which was deleted in the movie.Reality shows, surveillance, gated communities, unemployment etc

  • is this suppost to be a scary movie? b/c it was written by stephen king....

  • 2017 is a direct bullseye for this movie to turn into real life xept 4 the game show, maybe the NWO will have us play "Life or Death Family Double Dare"

  • this film was pre-reality television and they should

have robert patinson in the revamp when hollywood

decides to ran out of ideas and make the running man.

  • to me the film was very good, but if they did do a remake, it should be...

    A: directly from the book

B:able to get around the real ending from the book.

C: no damn, cgi at every step!

  • We should produce a show exactly like the Running Man and have Ian Huntly, Peter Sutcliffe and Roy Whitting as contestants. The stalkers should be Vinney Jones, Danny Trejo, Alex Reid and 50 cent.

  • @simposayerman Dont forget to include Levi Bellfield as a contestant too !

  • @Smudgeroon74 Yes, thats right-he should go first with Danny Trejo as his stalker. Or is there any other stalkers that you would recommend for this scumbag?

  • @simposayerman @simposayerman Id love to have seen Captain Freedom chasing after him , and tying him in knots coz in real life he's played by Jesse Ventura who was a champion wrestler .

  • If only our reality TV was as good as that...

In 2017 we'll still have fat hairy women pretending to be singers on the TV.

  • ..Havent seen the movie but read the book, the book seems much better

  • How about a light? :)

  • a dvd must!!!! sold mine

  • CGI should only be used when necessary. Now they try to use it whenever possible. The Running Man was amazing and so was Arnold, he's a once in a life time guy.

  • i'll be back

  • Yeah, the ending is nothing like the book at all.

  • This Blows! I Would like someone to remake this movie and make it just like the book

  • hunger games?

  • I lold when that woman won the home video... in 2017

  • The music is "Combat Drop" from the Aliens soundtrack :D

  • i would like to see the long walk and road work also done. rage, hell no

  • 0:31 is music from the alien series?

  • This movie, is based in the novel, the fugitive, of stephen king ???

  • @alexvilard It's also called The Running Man and the concept is much darker than the film. I haven't read it since high school.

  • @alexvilard i read the book a looong time ago I think it was called the running man. and Stephen king didn't use his real name

  • @tetranoob It was written under his pen name Richard Bachman.

  • i think this trailor is actually one of those videos ".... in 5 seconds"

  • love it

  • i never really understood this movie!

  • remakes hardly ever capture the magic of the original, vinnie jones doing escape to victory great cant wait ! (not) saw mean machine remake...says it all.

  • holy cow

  • i will be back :D

  • it's 1011 allready and all we have is big brother! We want a modern coloseum!!!!!!!!! :P

  • this is like the best reality show ever!

  • my dad was in this movie!

  • Any fans with an old tube tv can buy the 2 set dvd cheap. 1 disc has the 4:3 frame version and the quality will be much better then the vhs.

  • Music from the Aliens..

  • I live to see you eat that contract, but I hope you leave enough room for my fist because I'm going to ram it into your stomach and break your goddamn spine!
