Peter Roach is a very well-known figure in the world of phonetics and phonology. I think he has made a very good job talking about Discourse Intonation, an approach which has not received its due attention. The remark Roach makes about Jack Lewis is true, though, and it is a pity that people like Lewis and Wells still hate Discourse Intonation on very subjective and unjustified grounds
