Thanks! I have found it takes about 4 to 5 feet of heavy, wet NE USA snow to stop it on level ground. Once, in very light puff snow which is rare here in the NE, about 3 feet caused me issues. The puff snow got up under the engine compartment and started making all of my belts slip.
Thanks a bunch. Yes, I have a 12,000 BTU propane RV furnace in the camper section plus I insulated it with 1" thick CLOSED CELL foam. Underneath the sleeping bags I have 4" of open cell foam on top of 1 inch of closed cless foam. it is very comfy for myself, the wife and our two old beagles! I stayed away frm the diesel more for weight distribution issues. The extra few hundred pounds on the front springs was a bit more than I wanted to have there given the front winch and so forth. Ron

To bad im poor otherwise id already have rebuilt mine a bit more badass but man nuthin like yours. If i had the dough id contract you to do whatever you wanted with my rig as long as u let me watch and learn from a master. Turn Key 502 Engine with Fuel Injection and all pumps, pulleys etc - $10K. transfer case $6k, tranny $3k, custom bellhousing & flywheel I designed and built to run an SAE #2 tranny - $3k, pumpkins (rebuilt from scratch)about $3k each, tires and custom wheels - $4k, custom aluminum 70 gal fuel cell - $1.5K, body & camper $5k, raw steel - $2k gages, exhaust, suspension $5k. Blood, Sweat & Tears - priceless!!

The heavy ice underneath the snow, when such conditions exist, is where the tire chains become essential for basic trail safety. It is easy to get on a small 5 degree sideways tilt you would not even notice in the summer on your favorite trail and slide off into the trees or worse. I know from 1st hand experience! I had a hell of an engine problem for a while. It would break up at higher RPMs. It eventually got bad enough to effect even light rpms and then idle. Kind of flakey. Tracked it down to the MSD ignition module in the HEI distributor. Put in a new one and now she runs like a raped ape. Plan is to go do "real woods wheeling" 1st week after Xmas.
Well, its a tough job but someone has to do it!! Hey, she gets her turn behind the wheel. Of course, she tries to start out in 4rth gear a few times....all the more fun.

and yea those diesels can rack up the weight
and im sure would send it out of whack with that much weight in the front when on snow.
