  • I can imagine it would be hilarious to take that into suburban New Jersey and park it next to the mall crawlers GREAT TRUCK And excellent re engineering of a classic

  • @banjoplayer93 Thanks. Yes, when it is parked next to a "normal" modern day "SUV" it really shows how big it is. The best part for me is when I drive around and see the young kids pull on their dad's shirt sleeve and point! Thanks for the nice comment.

  • Thanks! I have found it takes about 4 to 5 feet of heavy, wet NE USA snow to stop it on level ground. Once, in very light puff snow which is rare here in the NE, about 3 feet caused me issues. The puff snow got up under the engine compartment and started making all of my belts slip.

  • Nice harvester!

The camper looks and probably functions pretty nicely for cold snow runs =D

would of put a cummins in it but im sure that 502 is treating you great

    props!

  • Thanks a bunch. Yes, I have a 12,000 BTU propane RV furnace in the camper section plus I insulated it with 1" thick CLOSED CELL foam. Underneath the sleeping bags I have 4" of open cell foam on top of 1 inch of closed cless foam. it is very comfy for myself, the wife and our two old beagles! I stayed away frm the diesel more for weight distribution issues. The extra few hundred pounds on the front springs was a bit more than I wanted to have there given the front winch and so forth. Ron

  • Wow sounds like a camping machine!

and yea those diesels can rack up the weight

and im sure would send it out of whack with that much weight in the front when on snow.

all in all a amazing restoration of a now priceless gem

    happy trails! =]

  • this is without a doubt the most badass truck ive ever seen. wish i had your knowedge and experiance id love to take my M-1008 and do something like that to it. To bad im poor otherwise id already have rebuilt mine a bit more badass but man nuthin like yours. If i had the dough id contract you to do whatever you wanted with my rig as long as u let me watch and learn from a master. Im from stamford NY close to Oneonta wish you were my neighbor id be hanging out with ya helpin ya all the time man.

  • Hey my old truck was in the same Fourwheeler readers rigs special as this rig! It's in the kicken classics section. Red toyota with a flatdeck from nova scota, Canada. Nice IH!

  • Having fun is fun. If you had to sell that truck how much would you aks for?

  • I never added it all up but I figure about $40K. Big ticket items I can remember. Turn Key 502 Engine with Fuel Injection and all pumps, pulleys etc - $10K. transfer case $6k, tranny $3k, custom bellhousing & flywheel I designed and built to run an SAE #2 tranny - $3k, pumpkins (rebuilt from scratch)about $3k each, tires and custom wheels - $4k, custom aluminum 70 gal fuel cell - $1.5K, body & camper $5k, raw steel - $2k gages, exhaust, suspension $5k. Blood, Sweat & Tears - priceless!!

  • they said in the '70s or in the '80s in a commercial that Martini is dot dot dot. Then the famous DJ Frankie Wild said: Ibiza is dot dot dot dot. And now I say: this truck is dot dot dot dot

  • Now thats a truck!! Awesome video Ron. Sounds cool as hell too!! Runs great. Have a Merry Christmas and keep up the good work. I'll try an post new video soon also.

  • yay, something new! weve got a foot of snow over here in oregon, thats on top the 1-2"s of ice underneath.

  • The heavy ice underneath the snow, when such conditions exist, is where the tire chains become essential for basic trail safety. It is easy to get on a small 5 degree sideways tilt you would not even notice in the summer on your favorite trail and slide off into the trees or worse. I know from 1st hand experience! Shoot some video of the Oregon winter wheelng for me! Trade!! Regards and Happy Holidays Ron

  • keep it up, I love that truck, we just about foot od powder in the city of seattle, I'm loving it.

  • I had a hell of an engine problem for a while. It would break up at higher RPMs. It eventually got bad enough to effect even light rpms and then idle. Kind of flakey. Tracked it down to the MSD ignition module in the HEI distributor. Put in a new one and now she runs like a raped ape. Plan is to go do "real woods wheeling" 1st week after Xmas.

    Tnx for the comments.

    Ron

  • love it man. do you take it out in the woods and stuff? and next time take us for a ride. haha. hows it running? seems good

  • Looks like fun but i'd rather be riding than standing out in the cold video taping. lol

  • Well, its a tough job but someone has to do it!! Hey, she gets her turn behind the wheel. Of course, she tries to start out in 4rth gear a few times....all the more fun.
