  • excelente!!! very good.. great voice.. see my covers.. and suscribe if your like :)

  • Fabulous!

  • Dazzerlin is right. More than any other musician Tom waits should not be covered in general. Also, the second line is incorrect.

  • u sound like a nob and make me feel sick leave that song and all of tom waits songs alone please he has a good voice and u dont

  • Verrrry nice job. One of the saddest and most poignant songs ever written. I can see you felt every word in your excellent interpretation.

    nice

  • Very beautiful voice! One suggestion: You're an actor and your communication skills are good. The sunglasses make your performance lose a dimension because your face is so expressive.

I'd love to see you do this one again-sans the shades.

  • This is a fabulous cover, well done. I got chills in the first few notes; you've got a very mellow, tuneful voice that is so beautiful. You sing straight from the heart, Tom would be proud to hear such a sensitive cover of his song.

  • If you drank and smoked more you could hit those low notes better:) Otherwise nice voice and decent guitar.

  • This is the most beautiful cover of this song. So tender and moving. Can you fill me in on where you got the chords?

  • Nice job. I thought your voice captured the haunting sadness of this song.

  • amo esta cancion, es fuertisimaª!

    Un beso

  • Man, I love this song and your version too! Especially the way you are singing. And while talking lullaby; my daughter (15 months old) always falls asleep sitting in my lap listening to this song... :-)

  • That's kind of disturbing. ;)

  • hmm. uuh this is pretty good, i think the problem with this one is it sounds a lok softer than it should be.

almost like a lullaby about death.

the point of the song is that it's bleak and depressing, even when I listen to it after 3000x of listening to it, it's incredibly saddening to hear. this almost sounds like it'd be somethign you turn on as you go to bed

  • I don't disagree with your assessment at all. In fact, listening back to this tune, I find it softer than I usually play it. You know, anytime one plays anything, you are kind of a slave to the moment. Clearly in the moment I played this, I was feeling more sentimental than dark...

  • well that was really the only problem i could find with it, when he wrote the song it was after he heard about a girl who had been murdered off the highway, and all anyone could think at the time was "where the hell was everyone?" "could I have stopped this?" i think it's missing that effect in this version, which is what really made it good

  • also I'd bet you'd do a pretty good version of pony. kind of change it from a down song to a hopefull song, i think if you did it the way you did this it would totally work

  • i like it .. nice

  • It's not about the skills and licks on tom waits songs! It's about emotional stuff.

  • I think guitar playing was really good and honestly I don't say positive thing about tom waits cover songs too easily. Been doing the same thing for a quite long time. After christmas we'll have another Tom Waits concert. We are Bad Livers, playinh his songs. This was totally positive experience to hear, your voice and passion on this was extremely somewhat original. Thanks. Timo From Finland.

  • He takes a great song and pretty much ruins it. He plays guitar like the frat boy who played on "Animal House". I kept hoping John Belushi would grab his guitar and smash it to bits.

  • lol... wow. pretty harsh. but o.k., point taken...

  • I must admit that I've never heard the original version of this tune, and I love Tom Waits.. Nevertheless, if you can't hear the sincerity in this (key word coming up) INTERPRETATION.. then stay inside your bubble.

The fact that you admit the movie Animal House has made an impression on you(positive or negative.. I forgot about it after the first time I watched it)really reveals something about your intellect and therefore your credibility.

  • So hmm, let's see. You admit you've never heard the original version, then turn around and question MY intellect and credibility? Funny. Case closed.

  • I can judge a performance on it's own merits , you don't seem to be able to...

  • Heh. On its own merits? Hello? It's a cover song remember? Not an original song, so of course it can't be judged on its own merits.

  • Of course a song (cover or original) can be judged on it's own merits in terms of live performance.

Are you trying to tell me that some of the best "covers" by many a talented artist over the last god knows how many years were a waste of time... just because they never wrote them???

  • Uh no, not trying to say that. All cover songs, good and bad, have to be critiqued based on the original song. This gentleman didn't write the song; he seems to be a capable musician, but seriously misses the mark. Although not much of a Springsteen fan, if you want to see a good cover version of a Tom Waits song, listen to Springsteen's "Jersey Girl." Alternatively, listen to Rod Stewart butcher and destroy Waits's "Downtown Train." Both covers are judged vis a vis the original.

  • OK OK...I'm ready for bed... it seems like we both have different ideas on music, I can see that we're both just as passionate about it and even share something in common (Tom Waits).

Just look at it this way... if you never knew that this version by Egpiles was a cover tune (like me)...regardless of who was the original author... would it move you?... It moved me,(yawn)

    Nighty Nite... Bubble Boy

  • This is awsome.

  • I like your performance. Great singing and guitar playing.
