  • I enjoyed the stupidity way too much.

  • ehm, im prety sure that u get a lower preasure using that long tube... :)

  • I have no experience with cr500's but i can tell you my 02 cr250 had 180 psi on a piston with the top ring siezed has 230psi with a new piston and rings. My friends 99 cr250 has 230psi also on a fresh top end. I have always kicked them with the air filter off and throttle wide hopen until the dial stops rasing. Someone correct me if im wrong

  • my yz250 did way more

  • 1:25-1:41 lol dude you are hilarious

  • how many cr500s have u had?

  • @justinchaffin1013 I have had two

  • @groutaone the 1 you have now looks so sweet!! wish my bike looked that great

  • @justinchaffin1013 Thanks buddy

  • ahhh... i'm still learning!!! keep it up oh great Groutaone!!!

  • @foxuae03 Thanks for watching

  • i didnt read this book but i can only assume you misread it. if you really want to take my criticism to heart, you can check out macdizzy.com or even just google "comp ratio vs psi".

  • @VMATT500C i guess that means the factory honda service manual is wrong too (which says 6.8:1). comp ratio is a fraction that shows the difference between the volume of the cyl at top dead center and bottom dead center. that doesnt take altitude, blow by, cam or port timing into consideration like a compression test. it is a calculation made on paper. just tryin to make the world a smarter place, thats all. sorry bub,,,, i be right.

  • @sk8nsnow14 bub Dude:The Bosch Automotive Handbook gives the following formula:

Compression Ratio Compression (psi) Range (psi)

    6.5 96-114 18

    6.6 98-116 18

    6.7 100-119 19

    6.8 102-121 19

  • @sk8nsnow14: bub Dude e-mail Bosch they need you to make their place smarter. You'd so right.

  • right i know this. either my bike is running and im ringin its neck or its shut off. any other suggestions?

  • hey man, gotta question for ya. i have a 1996 yz125, and it fouls plugs fairly often. i can go through around 6 hours of ride time before it fouls. i run 40:1 with yamalube 2r and 95 octane. it has been rebuilt recently, and had all the crankcase seals replaced. i noticed the powervalve is leaking a lot off goo. and so is the silencer. any suggestions on what i should do about the plug fouling issue and the goo? thanks.

  • @xxyzx125xx Most of the time when two strokes foul plugs its riding style, if the engine seldom or never gets into power band then oil starts to build up in the cyl,

  • 10.8 to 1 compression, Great. Have you ever hooked a timing light to it ?

  • @VMATT500C Never had a light on it, might be worth to check it though

  • @groutaone Since the only 2-strokes I've had, were fixed advance, I wonder when and how much total advance kick in?

  • @VMATT500C Been a while since I had it apart so I'am not sure if its fixed, 22 degrees at 4000 rpm is what the timing should be though

  • number 93

  • my dads old 86 kx 500 manuel says anything more than 140 is good anything less and replace the top end and hone the cylinder i bet you could go as low as 110 120 and be fine do the test around break in a few times and use that as a baseline when the compression is low compaired to that replace it. thats what i would do

  • @jlcyamaha Thanks

  • I would expect a higher compression 4T to be 175 to 180, so 160 seems perfect for an open class 2 stroke. After viewing some of your other videos where large quantities of soil are being tossed about, the conclusion is that your bike is running "kick ass". Gotta love big bore 2 strokes. They are low maintenance compared to the new stuff. I miss my 500 :)

  • @duken4evr Thanks for watching, which 500 did you have?

  • two people did not like the awesome compression on the cr 500, assholes!

  • @simba612 Thanks for support

  • @groutaone no problems i think your videos are awesome, and you are a realy smart person, keep up and i will keep my subscription.

     haters ssucck!

  • what was the factory compression ??

  • @ijdhg87id To this day I dont know what Honda says it should be, only what others say

  • @groutaone are all the engines have the same compression ratio ??

  • @ijdhg87id No, not at all. this engine has 6.8-1 compression ratio, most engines have about 8-1/2 to 1 and competition engines may have as high as 16-1. A diesel will be close to 20-1.

  • holly fuck 170psi fuck kicking that

  • dude, ARE YOU RICH ??

  • @fmxfreak177 Nope, you?

  • @groutaone nope lol. are you ever gunna sell your 500 ?

  • @fmxfreak177 I guess one day, but that wont be for a few years, I think maybe next winter I will addapt the new style plastics to the bike, see how that goes.

  • It should be waaaaaaay over 150psi. My 250r is sopposed to be over 180

  • Did you have the throttle wide open when you performed the compressions test? It didn't sound like it. Supposed to test with the throttle wide open otherwise the carb is creating a restriction.

  • My 250r. Honda with a new topend tests at 210 or so I have blown it up at 170psi for all a topend cost I would replace the piston and rings good luck keep up the awesome videos

  • @mikes04silverado Thats whats nice about these bikes, cheap to do top ends. More videos in the works.

  • haha, nice weather report. Georgia offroad claims that a 1986 Cr 500 runs 7:1, and a 1994 runs 6.8:1. multiple bu 14.7psi/atm and that you get 100ish psi. another site (eastern dirt) claims 8.5 for the newer Cr500Af from service honda. that puts you at about 130psi. I'm not sure how accurate these sites are, but it sounds like you got plenty of life left in those rings either way.

  • @mynamesmitchel Yep, I think it good to go

  • I got to giggle at one more person who's new to kicking a big bore last weekend :P Have no idea what number you should be hoping for there but 170 sounds foot breaking to me! Yeah, I love the into! Nice work man!

  • @sbartasek Did you happen to get some video of this kick start dude? Took me a while to figure out what a 500 wants from me when it comes to starting it but now its all good.

  • @groutaone No, no, I wish. Wasn't even a 500 though, was a KTM SX380

  • @YZ125ups I may make a video on that, I shined it up just before I shot this video

  • i love the intro

  • @crash25016 Cool, thanks

  • i gotta learn how to weld aluminum , is it hard for you?

  • @JGFILMS24 Sorry I dont weld aluminum, I'am not set up for it, I have a friend TIG weld it for me.

  • @groutaone i never really learned how to , haven't had the chance

  • @JGFILMS24 I have a mig welder so I'am not to bad welding steel, aluminum needs a TIG to make a strong weld and there I have some learnin to do.

  • Can I borrow some of that compression for my RM. lol. Nice vid.

  • @paisteboy I wonder if I could send it by UPS? Maybe you also need a new heavy duty powerband? heh heh

  • Possible chance of darkness tonight with scattered light by dawn... lol

  • @edzgarage Yes thats it, youre hired!

  • how much does that bike weigh?

  • @LeMieux250 You got me on that one, 215? I need a little help on this one.

  • @groutaone Thats gotta be fun! my '03 cr-250 is 224 with a 4 gallon gas tank, so id bet its a little oer than 215 ;)

  • frame is so shiny i need sunglasses lol sweet intro and great weather report

  • @dmaheryfz450 Thanks buddy, thanks for watching my randomness

  • Damn I think you would make an awsome weather man at least your accurate lol

  • @Hiddenbeneath1 I'am 100% so far

  • Well, it's like a 30 year drought here, so I'll thumbs UP for the rain we got overnight, and the slight potential for more this afternoon! :D

  • @rekjavicxxx Thats awesome that your getting some rain, hope you get lots but without a flood that is

  • @groutaone Flood makes mud......and you know what that means ;)

  • @rekjavicxxx Almost forgot, ha ha

  • lol good vid !

  • @BrittanyNicole1990 I think the sunshine is heading your way

  • @groutaone i hope so !! its cloudy and rainy today

  • I thought you were supposed to turn it over untill it dosn't raise anymore.

  • @2LateIWon Four kicks was a bit of a guess as I couldnt really see how the pressure was climbing until I was editing the video, later I got it up to 170psi after about 8 kicks

  • Great Video !!!

  • @krazy45cat Thanks

  • lol , its like here also , snow was gone with 2 weeks , popped from -5 celsius to 15 in a blink.

  • @viirus35 I think summer is coming to Canada!

  • great video :) i like how that chrome shines and the engine seems very big :)

  • @beeqool Thanks, its fun to work on when its clean.

  • but notice it go;s up every time you kick it////// not hateing at all just saying what i see what would have happend if you kicked it 5 more or 10 more times would it still go up?

  • @svt4life You are right, I didnt see how it was climbing until I did the editing, I think I will try it again with more kicks and add the results in the anotations

  • 145-165, according to my cousin whos a honda mechanic

  • sprayer booms a flapping in the yard sprayer freestyle, sounds like an awesome competition

  • @WhackTheWax That clip is from my freestyle yard sprayer video, thought it would be fun to toss it into this video

  • Thank you for the weather report! Very informative and in-depth!

    It's wet here.

    Still... :[

  • @ndiboomer Always glad to provide the very best in weather reporting, maybe this sun is heading your way.

  • i thought four strokes were compression tests, two strokes leak down tests, 1 psi loss a minute

  • @iceee187 Compression test can be done on both

  • I rely on you for my weather reports, so make videos daily!

  • @Davidsfarmlives Up to the minute weather reporting, groutaone's got you covered.

  • i looked it up on a forum it says 145 to 150

  • @gangsterbryce Thanks for that

  • what ever would i do without that weather report...!!

  • @lskw1 Some listen to the radio for the weather but I dont think that is as accurate as the groutaone report heh heh

  • Awsome :)

  • @DMAN964 Thank you

  • I usually crank them til they stop climbing...is there any kind of auto-compression release on a big single like that?

  • @knikula No compression release, just have to kick it the right way, ya I bet I could have got another 10 or 15 psi out of it if I kept going

  • @mikocoon Yes thanks I should have mentioned that.

  • The weather reports are so informative keep them coming!!!

  • @DanielRemains Will do, always seems to be some weather of some sort around here

  • such a clean bike man hey remember awhile back i told you i was getting a vw baja bug well i get her and wanted to show you some pic's if you want but dont no how to show you maybe i could via facebook?

  • @zezimawanabefriends Oh man, facebook I dont do. I spend too much time on you tube and I'am scared to start with Facebook cause then I'll never get pff my chair. Could you make a video of the pics?

  • @groutaone umm i have trayed but its hard to upload ya no?

  • @groutaone he could email them to ya, just a suggestion.

  • @zezimawanabefriends Came up with a plan, since I dont have a Facebook account I could use my wifes account to have a look at your pics if you could let me know what your account is.

  • @groutaone ill send you a pm over youtube

  • my 01 cr250 is 210psi with a brand new top end thats out of my clymer manual and i've tested it my self got 209 called it a day

  • @terrobelone Thats a lot of squeeze, nice. The CR500 only has 6.8-1 compression so I dont think thats doable for mine.

  • my banshee is reading 90 psi on each cylinder but its running perfect, starts easy, lots of power, so i think my gauage is off.

  • @2StrokeSmokes Wonder what they have new?

  • @groutaone Im not too sure. But from what I understand it should not even start with only 90. When i rebuild it I will use that tester to see what it reads to give me a baseline

  • @2StrokeSmokes Good idea.

  • lol did you get the same storm we had in ontario lol snow one day gone the next

  • @gassolean Yep, I think it was the same one.

  • Where's that goofy twin of yours, I'm sure he knows what the compression should be!! Keep up the weather reports Buddy!!☺

  • @805ROADKING I just need a grouta chopper for the sky reports

  • 150 is right in the middle of the compression. The compression when new rings are installed is around 170 psi and the minimum or time when the rings need to be replaced is around 120. My 04 cr125 has 150 right now, so its good for an other year or two.

  • @OffroadBeaver I tried it again the next day with a few more kicks and got 170psi so I think its good to go.

  • damn thats a shiny frame and motor

  • @yamaharules163 Thanks, its a bit of work keeping the shine but I dont mind.

  • 14.7 psi * perfect compression ratio = expected compression gauge reading... My truck is ~ 8.5:1 so I look for ~120 to 130 on all cylinders. Looks like your gauge has the ratio on the inside, and psi on the outside.

  • @FLYINHIGH5 Cool, altitude also plays a part in test results as does camshaft duration and overlap on four strokes, always kinda nice being able to find out what the results are.

  • that's one sweet bike!

  • @kortt Thanks

  • And again, just went on Hondatech. They say that 150-170psi/cyl is exactly what it needs !

  • @Graneable Thanks for that

  • Ye ! No more snow to here in Quebec too !

They say the CR500 has an 6.8:1 compression ratio.

I dont know what that means !

But for myself, 170psi is the exact number !

  • groutaone is still the best weather man out there!!

  • @mogearz Maybe soon I can quit my day job

  • gotta wait for Hd :)

  • @mq1991 Its here now
