Is there a name for the first few pieces (I believe the band to be Zao). I've listened to most of their records and I can't find the names. The atmosphere at 0:42 is so serene.
Wow, that bill just about nails everything I was in awe of in the prog genre and excludes anything I found cheesy. Was this an event that Giorgio Gomelsky had his hands in? I attended a Gomelsky related event in NYC in the late seventies "the Zu festival" that featured Fred Frith, Chris Cutler, Peter Blegvad, Yochk'o Seffer, Daevid Allen w New York Gong, Gilli Smyth and the Zu Band who later morphed into Material. One of the top musical moments in my life.
Its amazing to see this ---I doubt Keith Tippett knows it exists. The first tenor player you see is Gary Window, I think Evan was on the gig but you don't see him. I'm the tenor player in the check shirt next to Elton Dean. The close up is John Williams on soprano -thanks for putting it up-really takes me back.
OK, can someone identify exactly what each clip is? There seems to be more than just three groups on this video. Who's the group playing during the third bit, with all the vocalists and the tenor sax player?
And also, which members of Henry Cow are playing on in Utopic Sporadic Orchestra bit? The liner notes on the CD that came out a few years doesn't mention anyone from Henry Cow.
Ah yes, Jean-My Truong! The way he tears his trapkit a new asshole during 1:00-1:30 is just far out! He's not just a drummer, not even a drum machine, he's more like a killing machine! An intense Vietnamese that just hammers his kit like a machine gun gone berserk. That's how mind-blowing his drumming can be.
The strange irony is that he can also hold back and play minimalist, like at the beginning (an excerpt from a "Z=7L" album track called "Marochsek" redone with a string arrangement).
Someone once mentioned this project when I used to run a hotline server back in the day but I never heard them before. Thanks for sharing this great video :)
I believe this is the only appearance of the members of Henry Cow playing with members of Magma. Also, this may be the only way to see David Cross in Centipede.
sorry, that's the all thing ! frustrating ,isn't it ? this is a tape I asked directly from a tv editor:there is only this footage of centipede...but maybe someone filmed the concert in super 8 ?...hope and see!

@Kohntarkosz At about 1:50, the singer next to the sax player is the legendary Mike Patto
