I assume that they played the top mormon schools in NZ at rugby, not the Boys only schools like Christchurch/Otago/Southland/Hamilton/Gisborne etc etc.
They look decent enough team, but playing crap teams can make u look alot better.

They dont do it before every game like the all blacks, they only do it before and after championship games. They should have just got some Maori tribe to write their own specific haka for their team an school. When I was at my Boys high school we would have to line up on the grass embankment an do a school Haka with like 1000 boys, then the 1st 15 an opp team would do theirs, if ya didnt usually got detention.

Im not of Ngati Toa decent ( Im Ngati Kahungunu) and when I first heard about Highland rugby using Ka Mate I was quite nervous as Ive seen many team butcher it, but this team is different. They seem to grasp the concept of what haka is about and how its meant to empower you. I agree with Kahunagan though, maybe its time they started their own tradition and developed a new haka about Highland Rugby and all that it stands for to them?
HR probably know more about what haka is than most kiwis. It comes from deep within, from your spirit, from your mental well being, and is expressed through your body, and with your comrades around you. This is what i see when these boys do the haka. Hey All Blacks, no offence , but we South Africa is currently the best and number one rated team in the world. we are unbeaten in the Tri Nations and world cup is also hewe in SA......As a south african I think it is great that they give the Haka that kind of exposure in such a movie. As well as rugby exposure, not that rugby really needs it with millions playing and watching it worldwide. Would be good if US showed some interest in the sport....

A new version? All they did was add something to the existing one. I have just read an article regarding the chief of the ngato toa tribe(the people who created this haka) and the fact that they have never ever been consulted on the use of this haka. Infact gelwix the coach even lied about the use of it in the recent movie on highland rugby. He said that the movie makers consulted representatives from NZ. This never happened. Asking any old maori from NZ is not getting permission!
