jon..I was a stunt driver in "Gone" and "Junkman". I also assisted in editing, writing script, and had one small speaking part. I'd known Toby for a few years when I was a motor cop on CHP and our office was just around the corner from his junkyard in Gardena. Toby just loved the local cops and always sent booze to our holiday parties. When he was organizing for the film, he put out the word for any cops to drive in the movie. We had guys from all over the area working. It was a real blast.
jonthegardener....The car was never switched.....It went back to the shop on a flatbed after each day's shoot and was repaired for the next day. In the scene that caused the most (unscripted) damage, the light pole on the freeway off ramp vs. left fender, we closed the set early, trucked the car back and Toby and crew spent a few hours replacing the left frame rail from the firewall forward, and it was good to go. The left exhaust manifold was broken, but Toby liked the new sound.
@ExCHP Wow, were you part of the crew then? I have to say this was one of my all time fave car chase films, pity they can't make actors, films and cars like this now.
@babyimawantyou She's definitely tough, but was beefed up with a NASCAR roll cage otherwise I think she'd have concertinaed earlier on in the film :) Fantastic film though, my kids were much more impressed with this the original version than the one with Nicholas Cage cage and the awful CGI....

It doesn't look quite as high as 30 foot, I'd say 12 at the most. Still, it takes balls of steel to do a stunt like that!

@jonthegardener I think it's 30 feet in length
