I think Maurice put a lot of effort and travel into introducing this very exotic sound in the percussion world....seems things moved fast for him after he returned from Africa...( he did go..right?" His mastery of all the percussion instruments became electrifying , and a marriage made in heaven happened....Jazz and African sounds...Ramsey Lewis has always beable to pick the best...My favorite "Trio"..Ramsey, Maurice and Cleveland Eaton!!!...And that's Jazz!!
