If everybody had a little brown shack, we taxpayers could save the ton of money that is now spent on sewage treatment plants. And... as a bonus, we would have free fertilizer for our vegetable gardens.
Oh no! The health departments wouldn't allow that. Well, eliminate the communist health departments and save even more money, AND our right to live free.
I was a disk jockey for Armed Forces Radio in Korea in the mid 60s. The music we played came with multiple songs on one LP, and this was included on one. No sooner did we get it then we were informed that it was banned as was not to be played .... obscene they said. LOL wonder how they handle today's radio and TV! (we played it anyway).
Ha-ha, thanks for the memories, this song is almost as dear to me as my litlle ol' shack was. Yep..... we had a 2 holer at my place up north, whenever townies came to visit, we'd tell 'em one hole for each foot. Used to keep a roll of TP in an old tobacco can so the squirrels and mice didn't get it.
I remember in third grade we had an outhouse at school for boys and one for girls. But the snow drift was too deep for the teacher to get to the girls outhouse. She went to the mens before I did. There was a thin layer of frost over all the bench area. When when she sat down she melted the area she sat on! When I went in there was a large wide area of no frost which corresponded exactly with her rear end! Some mental images stick in your mind for 50 years.
@leonardgoodwin25 yes and even GAS HEAT! GGpaw got blowed up in one back in the 20's one winter morning...went to light smoke whilst persuing the Sears catalog and found out there was a gas leak, landed out in the half froze mud and spent half a month in the hospital with bbq'd ass. Not fun days...he quit smoking that day.
Hope you will check out our little outhouse song...I never knew there was so many songs about outhouses out there...LOL. I was visiting Arkansas and my folks. My Aunt Plumy dedicated a little 'outhouse' song to me...she's like in her 80's, and it was pretty funny...hope you enjoy. I am adding you as a friend and subbing. :)
Please give credit to Billy Edd, i really don't like to see his work posted and uncredited. Oh, and I'm going to post a video Billy edd and I made together called ' Ode to Poop'. Its a laugh.
This song has been a family favorite for years.....and it has also won 1st place in our 4th of July parade....yep,,...it sure has....here in vermont we know the meaning of this song....do you????
Nice song. Hey like that double seater.I got a nice laugh out of it.My sence of humor.Thank you for posting and sharing. I do love indoor plumbing. Agape, Lisa
I have a second generation tape of Billy Ed Wheeler's demo tape of "The Coming Of The Roads"!! I don't know if there is another one any where. It even has outtakes on it. Another great Kentucky banjo player by the name of Scotty Henson is also on the tape doing a self penned tune about a Lyndon Johnson's Basset hound that he got so much press over by holding it up by the ears.. Great tape!! I am having it transfered to disc but I will post it as soon as I get it back on the plastic.
Mine is a two-seater, too!
Throw in the ashes from your wood-burning stove and you got great fertilizer for the veggie garden ;-)

We had a nice one with white siding.
They don't stink if you use a bucket of stove ashes to "flush" with,
and it keeps the flies down.
Good old days. I'd trade NOW for THEN in a heartbeat!
