  • is this recorded with a shoe omg

  • flames, explosions and live animals prohibited. i'd love to see a chicken hitting a switch like in minecraft rube goldbergs. =)

  • hehehe

  • @:25

    OOOH A GREEN BALOON!!

  • "so my kids can come and see that science is FUN" ya right

  • @airsoft78910

My question is how in the hell is a Rube Goldberg machine considered science? At best its a show of engineering.

  • asian did all the job not the others XD

  • We are a better species for doing things like this.

  • @jakesroomguiter25 And you're true love us grammars.

  • I dont think any of them have girlfriends. They're true love is science.

  • washington state college from Ohio?

    1:47

  • Was this recorded with a calculator? xO

  • hihÌ_åñY_güYs_wAñt_tÓ_chÄt_with_mê

  • notice the kid playing with the baloon in the background from 0:26 to 0:37

  • 0:31 seconds "I like to cum"

  • wish they did something like this in australia! id enter for sure

  • WHY!!!!

  • 1:32 his beard reminds me of an earwig :P

  • god i wanted to see something cool but all i get is stupid crittics SHOW THE DAMN RUN

  • 0:30 retard in background?

  • um.. guys, i forgot to press record :P

  • Great!!!!! You should submit this to the writers of The Big Bang Theory. Would love to see what they come up with. Lets start a canpaign to get it happening.

I made one of these machines in an art class in the 70s. Thought i was doing good keeping the ball moving for 40 second. U put me 2 shame.

  • OMG THE EPICNEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEES

  • lets see those nerds get laid. that would be a lot herder than theses things.

  • This contest really needs to get away from the use of subjective judging to determine a winner.

  • Wow. I can't imagine transporting these things very far.

  • Tch.... Go look at Japanese versions and cry >.>

  • that dude's beard reminds me of an ant's pinscers

  • orange juice and juper agent 00J?? lol thats a bit fishy

  • 0:22 the guy drinks the juice like hes taking a shot

hes all like 'bottoms up cheers'

  • MY TEACHER SEND ME THIS XD.

  • I like this kind of stuff

  • @Mkottoff.. So what about all the division 1 scholar athletes that put in countless hours on the field/court??? Are people not allowed to have hobbies anymore??? It's like saying why are you wasting your time commenting on this video when in fact in those few min it took to watch and comment you could have stumbled across the cure yourself!! Oh and their engineer majors, not biology...

  • Cool contest, but lame video. I was hoping to see some of the machines runs.

  • Holy shit! I know the red haired girl at 0:37!

  • @freezing3345 WHAT RED HAIRED GIRL?

  • @MKotthoff college kids

  • @MKotthoff Wow, comparing the creation of a rube goldberg machine or two to the ongoing attempt to create a cure for cancer... I'm sorry but that's just stupid, by that logic, you shouldn't be wasting your time posting stupid comments on youtube, go find a cure for cancer!

You should really think about what you're saying before you say it.

  • Considering I'm still in high school, it's pretty difficult to have those sorts of resources. My comment is that spending hundreds of hours on a stupid energy change project, that teaches the basics of physics, is a complete waste of time for college kids who obviously have the potential to go on into the field of science.

BTW, my dad has cancer and the primitive "Well lets just kill all the cells" idea just isn't working. It was also meant as a tongue in cheek comment in the first place.

  • @MKotthoff

You just proved yourself wrong by "just [killing] all the cells" with wasting time commenting here instead of searching for a cure for cancer.

  • @MKotthoff they are participating in an activity that sharpens their minds and developes their creativity. There are few better uses of their time during college. Most of these students wouldn't be in the field of medicine, there would be many engineers a few mathmaticians/computer science types and maybe a few creative arts types. so unless you want compleately unqualified people working on a cure for cancer (these are undergraduates of various courses) I don't know what you expect.

  • @MKotthoff The "primitive" idea you refer to is all we have currently. We certainly haven't left it at that, but the problem is in creating something that can independently identify your cells from your cells... This is, for obvious reasons, not a simple task. But to say that this contest is a waste of time and resources because we DON'T have that answer is like saying that all endeavours that are not in some way trying to cure cancer are without merit, and that is simply not true.

  • When i was young, i made those things in my room... Love to see i'm not the only one... lol!!

  • Really!

  • It looks well done.

  • it is suppose to improve creativity of people, you are such an idiot!!!

  • thank you for seeing my comment : ) ...if your statement is true then creativity would really improve if they challenged themself to take complicated/difficult tasks and simplified them

    ...just a thought : )

  • They just meant it for amusement. Well lets join the fun.

  • because they are bored?

Or maybe they have nothing else to do?

  • I'm curious to see so many thumbs down ...to a comment that is respectful of these brilliant minds yet curious : )

  • King Triton called. He wants his crab back.

  • OMG A HEADCRAB INVADER

  • JAPANESE r BEtteR..lol...

  • 1:32

    Amber Alert.

If you know you'll get it

  • Yeah, I don't see it.

  • CHeck out my Rube Goldberg machine!!

  • PSPE FTW!

  • Just show us the damn run!

  • U got it! This was amazingly boring. I was just waiting to see the machines run!

  • no he wont'

  • Amazing!

  • what is with that beard?!?!?!?!

  • BOILER UP!!!

  • i think the hardest bit is to set it back up for another show

  • You guys worked through Spring Break!?

  • americans say carrabien so werid

  • you spell Caribbean so weird

  • Comment removed

  • haha, that lady at 3:02 in the yellow jacket sure seems excited...

  • Lolllllllllll.

  • the guy at 1:42 looks like he has half a crab strapped to his face

  • No live animals? That was one of Rube Goldberg's trademarks -- why would they prohibit that?

  • 1:42 / 4:16

    nice beard dude

  • lol if his beard wasnt so long he'd look like james hetfield (lead singer of metallica). he sounds like him too!!!

  • he really wouldnt look anything like him

  • Best part of this video is, without a doubt,.......the absolutely epic facial hair!!!

  • well,,,, isn't it somewhat stupid to call this engineer and science for college level? I understand for elementary up to high school but.. yeah.,

  • The more complicated steps can (and sometimes have to) be calculated immensely to ensure that the same result happens over and over again, it's basically stringing several machines together and having one activate the other. There simply is no better way to practice engineering than with a Rube Goldberg machine.

  • lmfao 1:40 thats a beard if i ever seen one

  • the guy with the funny gotee...*sniggers*...when he talks, the gotee looks like the mandibles of a praying mantis xP

  • the first time i saw a Rube Goldberg machine was at the age of 4. i thought it was just a giant toy

  • Rube Goldberg was a cartoonist who made a comic strip with invention designs with the sole purpose of making a very simple task very complicated. The most common example is the children's game mousetrap- which has many levers, pulleys, weights and in the end... drops plastic cage onto a mouse-shaped game piece. Now, some people actually BUILD these machines, and they're quite interesting to see and call them "Rube Goldberg" machines out of reverence.

  • Rube goldberg is a person.

  • you must be pretty stupid, we had to learn about him in school and make one a project, i guess either youre too young to have learned it in science, or youre too imature to pay attention

  • Or possibly you attend a school that actually teaches things that matter. I'm a huge fan of Rube Goldberg machines, don't get me wrong, but I've certainly never learned of him in a science classroom.

  • flames, explosives, and live animals prohibited!!! rune goldberg would be pissed if he heard that

  • Very true, haha

  • i think he would be more pissed off you miss spelled his name

  • @Potatochucker6 ironic that you misspelt misspelled then.

  • @andobandito true dat!!!!

  • @andobandito LOL!!! Yeah, I am surprised skinning a cat isn't an option. ;P

Kidding, kidding! I have two cats and love them dearly (I /promise/ I don't do anything bad to them >.<)

  • @andobandito Its Rube dumbass

  • @andobandito Rube*? M8?

  • yeah, nerds that will be rich in about ten years...

  • sorry at 0035, not really science is it, lol,

  • I need a man 2 treat me like a queen 8

  • i dont see any oranges

  • 1:36 the guys beird is ROFL

  • As much as I love these machines, I gotta say that if it came down to either hot girls in bikinis or long hours of constructing little machines, I'd have to go with the first one :D

  • But you ended up here watching this and commenting. I guess you didnt get any bikini girls after all ^^

  • agreed.

  • Diddn't Ferris U beat you in 2007?

  • I know it was the reason I watched it and there was nothing!

  • transporting those things must be hell

  • for real...and thats obv a white kid. ive never heard a black person say loser in my life

  • Both of you are WRONG

    It's "They're"!!!!!!

So smack youselves on the faces and call it a day!

  • winnar!

  • he speaks the truth

  • +Rep.

  • nice self-ownage there.

  • he got it right but hes still an idiot

  • there will be no time to show everthing to answer your question

  • Why don't they ever show the WHOLE thing in action!?

  • 1:39, omg wtf is up with that beard!

  • wow.....

rube goldberg machines ALWAYS fascinate me.

    i love these things.

    keep up the good work.

i love these so much, i made one of my own!

    it's called my contraption

    by gh3dominator201

  • nice

  • WHOA...

  • This stuff just fascinates me.
