@bluejamesbond Great question!
The reason I wear headphones is because I don't actually record the sound of my keyboard that you see. What I do instead is I connect my keyboard/piano to my computer and record what's called MIDI keystrokes. MIDI means that everytime I hit a key on my piano it sends a signal to my computer telling it what note I hit. I then map this to a very expensive sounding Boston Steinway grand piano :).

Since there is no sound coming out of my piano, the only way for me to be able to hear the piano sound is through the headphones and that is the reason I wear the headphones :)
