How am I reducing my carbon foot print ? I would still be using steel you had to use machinery to gather form and compress the straw. all I see is it a quick resopnse building meant for temperary use.
The rest of the world is much farther ahead in using renewable resources for building/gardening/etc. I am glad to see this but frustrated at the same time that it is not more prevalent. The houses don't have to look any different. They're just economically more sound and environmentally sound as well. I wish these panels were available at Home Depot.
@frankandcathy The rest of the non industrialized countries have been using the same earthy materials...and buying the by products of the developed nations because they did not create them, they did not have the tools in place to get rid of them (plastic products) so it became a nightmare because of the lack of landfills. They still today do not have the money to buy trash cans and dumpster trucks.
Houses like this could be easily made to creat housing here in the US for the "poor and Needy" imagine this a normal house that costs 80,000 would cost 10k or less.. Huricane force winds well we all know that Huricanes are wet. so yes the are water proof and if seald right. it could last for years. Now the only enemy of this would be the...BANKS!
The 3 pigs story was just propaganda by the same people who set the building codes, which just happen to be people from the cement and brick industries!

It definitely doesn't take 1 full acre of trees to build a house .. come on now.
SparksAlot420 2 years ago
yes actually it does. and depending on the size of the house it can take more than that
sp0ttedp0ny330 2 years ago
Well lots of factors involved, size of house .. how many trees they figure are in and acre ..
SparksAlot420 2 years ago
Standing trees not cut trees. Depending on how old the growth is.

Watch out because your "stick built" home gets blown down after the staw house. Guess we should all live in Brick or Cement homes.
