So the cloth is under the glass which is slightly raised above the cloth. And thus everything but the cloth is on glass. Then since its elevated it could just slip out. This is hard to do by hand. Impossible with a motorcycle. The torque alone would rip the sheet and send the dishes tumbling down. But if your tha

Mythbusters experiments are often as scientifically sound as watching a hollywood blockbuster ==|||

They don't use a control test most of the time, and carry out little or no repitions. The one with the backwards porsche (stupid) and the myth of shooting through a rifle scope (later proven on another show using a scope with fewer lenses, as would have been used by the soldier who had been shot in the "myth") shows just how inconclusive and often wrong they are. They've gotten boring as well..

No, I agree here too. Even on the small table the items move a few inches in the direction of the pull, but nothing moves on the big table at all except for a little rocking, & very little. There's no close up or slo-mo like you said, so I agree it's not real. I'm a physics major too, and while it may be possible to do this with that many objects, not without some things moving about or possibly falling over, friction is no myth.

I think they used a clear laminate sheet on which all the items were placed and the cloth under this perspex. You can see the items all moved an inch at the same time when the sheet it pulled.

Why shouldn't that work? I mean i haven't tried it, but i think it might work. It's just about friction. If you try this trick with a cotton tablecloth it might probably not work. But if you use the silky ones it might work, because the friction factor is much smaller. you just need to overcome the static friction.
