I really hope you guys would have been there before giving advices. After all, he might have become something great, not just one time world and European champion.
@epaluoma Yes thats definately him. Looks identical, exact same build, knees come in the exact same way and the way he kind of twists/twirls his ankle prior to doing the 1st & 3rd reps. If you look at his clean and jerks you will see that he always does this little ankle twist/twirl thing before he jerks the weight.
thats olymbic squats , and you didnt say its for 3 reps .
theres more integrity in these squats than ive seen from any p.lifter , better than the sumo barely parallel goodmornings we see by power lifters , also olimbic wrack , and no spotters ? are you sure you are a powerlifter and not a weightlifter?
@3xWilliam First step would be to lower the weight. After you lower the weight (10% off of what you're doing now should work), focus on pushing your knees OUT on both the descent AND ascent. It is harder at first, and takes getting used to, but it will pay off exponentially in the long run. Also, make sure to keep your head forward or slightly down so that you're getting that sweet hip drive, as this will take away from your perceived need to bend your knees in the first place.
This guy is good. Notice his huge strength in his legs rather than the usual top heavy body builders (myself included!). He is perfect with each lift, just uses different muscles in the last rep. To slip out like that shows confidence and experience.
good depth, but you need to not dive-bomb into it and work on actively pushing your knees out and opening your hips with your adbuctors, so you dont get that valgus deformity
His last rep was a bit off for technique, his knees went WAY inwards. But hey, I'd rather compromise technique and get back to the top of the movement then get stuck at the bottom with that kind of weight on me
@navaret86 how did you almost destroy your meniscus because of your knees squeezing in? my coach told me that it's just the your legs aren't strong enough... do you think the injury could also be from going to low and putting pressure on the knees?
Squat 500+ pounds deep and see if your knees do not encounter the same movement. Clearly the weight is a bit heavier than he should be handling, but there is absolutely nothing wrong with sacrificing form to throw a little extra weight around now and again.
@5waterpolo5 You're putting your knees at risk for an ACL tear, stressing the MCL more than you should too. If you can't keep your knees out, you have to move down in squat weight until you can, or else the part of the quad and groin that keep the knees out will never develop because they can't support the weight. But it's really good to get your knees out. No one lifts knees in at a high level.
@styykez If you watch in the mirror on that video he actually keeps his knees directly between his hips and his ankles. They bow out on the descent, and return to neutral on the way up, giving the impression that they bend in. His knees don't bow in at all.
nice squats but be careful about those knees...dnt bend them inward to much or u will literally pop them out. i do the same thing and try to always keep them parallel to eachother
you're strong as fuck, it's oviously because of the weight, but don't let your knees buckle like that if you can help it. great form though and ass to grass, good job bud.
@simongruber Though his form is great (I can't say fantastic cuz his knees buckle in a little - I'm not even criticizing, that weight would snap my knees in 2) - it wasn't ass to grass...ass to grass literally means getting ur ass to almost touch the floor. He had great depth, so don't think I'm one of those keyboard warriors bashing this guy. It was some inspirational lifting.
Sick lift bro

your knee bow in way too much.
danielleece 5 months ago 2
@danielleece That's why personally I always start with my knees bent outward slightly in a minor crouch. Although I was taught that.

Couple things.
1. You are fucking strong.
2. You should really try and sort that knee cave out.
