This is to cool. I remember going to a game with the 84 team versus another NBA All Star Team. It was played at the Metrodome in Mpls. Considering we didn't have pro basketball at the time, one of the most enjoyable sporting events I got to go to at the time.
p.s. Considering we have the T-Wolves, I guess we still don't have a pro team. :(
What I love about the video is that you kept the original commentary. There are a lot of good videos out there but sometimes they put music over it removing the true impact of the game.
listen to what the commentator said starting at 3:08. he sums it up pretty well for how complete jordan was entering professional basketball. handling and shooting, and moving without the ball, something that took kobe 10 years to learn and he still hasnt got it right.
again at 8:05, the guy said he got the inside and outside games already developed. never understood why people would think jordan never had the mid range game in his early years. people, especially sport media, are extremely forgetful.
i think iverson is just as good as Jordan. Regardless of height.
Every shot Iverson takes, requires so much skill, speed and effort, most of Jordan's shot's were pull up jumpers from off ball screens, & fade-aways. Still MJ did spectacular drives N dunks, 99% of AI shots/drives are phenomenally spectacular. 1 millionth of a second from being blocked. AI has greatest tip-jams. One on detlef schremph (sonics) is better than MJs tip of pippens free throw, & AI's tip jam on Camby is epic
@qweedow I enjoyed watching A.I. when he was at his peak, but you gotta be kidding me. Iverson's game, no matter what height he could have been, was no where near as complete and all-around as Jordan, or even Kobe, offensively and especially defensively! Iverson was an all-time great scorer and a great athlete and that's pretty much it.
Mine stands, although maybe overrated. A.I is a tenacious defender... PO record 10 steals in one game. I lost count how many times AI has shut down Kobe one-on-one, making Kobe shoot poorly. See NBA.com stats if u must. Matchup's majority of time Kobe played poorly, although his team might have one.
AI avg more AST p/gm than BOTH Kobe & MJ If A.I had a decent teamate he'd hav a ring. Kobe & Jordan always surrounded by talent when they won rings.
@popeyeisgood and it's all bretty ballsy for the guy to call it.. saying MJ would be an all time great.. considering he had never played a single game in the NBA!
@baldheadkid I remember when Jordan was playing college ball and you can see that he was going to be great but nobody could have predicted he would become the GOAT. I will say this though, Len Bias coming out of college at that time was going to be great. He was a beast both inside and out, it's just too bad that he made a bad decision that cost him his life.
@popeyeisgood The commentator was Billy Packer who was describing Jordan at that time. I believe that players coming out of high school need to go to college for at least two years to develop their game. That's why it took Kobe awhile to develop, as well as LeBron. That's one of the reasons that basketball was so much better during that time. BTW one of the players that played on the USA team was Leon Wood who is now a NBA referee.
2:05.. look how he floats in the air, amazing :-)

"I mentioned I think he can be one of the greatest players in the game...." - Hubie Brown, using common sense as most commentators don't today.

@popeyeisgood
kObe is a gret player, but he is FAR FROM being anything like Michael Jordan!
Michael Jordan is the one and only super baller. Nobody will surpass his skill, ability and domination of the game.
LeBron is a fail in comparison.
ONly Allen Iverson comes close to MJ in ability.

@qweedow agree, if iverson was 6'6, he'll give jordan a run for his $.
